My score is 4.14201%

That was one of the longest test/quizzes i've ever taken online! Sheesh!

Okay, who is up for a rehash bash with a twist? I've talked with a few and who wants to go bowling? 7:30 Wednesday night at Minnehaha Lanes in St Paul. There will be karaoke at 8:30 if people stay and want to sing. Who's in?

First of all...Way to go TMK!!! Congrats, and its about time! :~)

Secondly, sorry for being so long with the 12th clue and explanations. As Kids said, we've been managing a bar up at Mille Lacs, we opened on the 23rd and its been crazy, we haven't even been on-line since we posted clue 11!

Bowling and karaoke sounds like a great time, but I'm not sure we'll be able to make it, we probably have to close the bar that night unless we can con one of the owners to do it.

Clue 12:

Battle Creek is the park
If you’re still in the dark
Go now and you will see

\09In the lot park your car
\09Cross the bridge not too far
\09By the creek is a lonely tree

Search down to the right
While keeping in sight
Picnic tables that number three

\09Inside a black hockey puck
\09Our coin is securely stuck
\09In a hole covered by compost debris

Kids called the last clue almost to a T!

Clue 1
Every State has one
Around ours you'll do just fine
So to be the Jedi son
You'll have to look for a park sign

Easy- It’s in a park in St. Paul. Jedi is a “Star Wars” reference, war pointing to Battle. You can also see the park sign from the hiding spot.

Clue #2
People as you glance around
Use your rake, search like a ferret
Cause its right there on the ground
Kelly's treasure you will inherit

The coin was hidden in a hockey puck on the ground covered with dirt, leaves and dry grass, which you would need a rake (or some kind of tool) to search through.

Clue 3:
Not Eisenhower, but readjusted, a 5 and a 3
O.K. now a 4 and a 2 then 0
Three you should see
Even before you're the hero

Re-adjust 5 and 3 to 35, but not Hwy 35 (the Eisenhower Interstate system), County Rd 35 (Upper Afton Rd). Re-adjust 4 and 2 to 24 then add 0 to get the address 240 on the only mailbox on Battle Creek Entrance Rd , the three you would see before driving into this part of the park. You could also see three picnic tables from the hiding spot. Note- this clue tells you what park, which part of the park, and narrows the hiding spot if you figure it out.

Clue 4:
You say you can't win in a court
And that you don't like hockey
Well think of a new sport
`N stay out of the sand Disc Jockey

Stay away from the tennis court and hockey rink area. The “new sport” and “stay out of the sand” refers to the new golf course on the Maplewood side of the park, and indicates to stay away from it .

Clue 5:
Four, maybe more
Lurking with the name the same
Inside around and through
Plod to find which
Is in the game
Top to a bottom you

Four maybe more with the name the same are Battle Creek (creek) Battle Creek School, Battle Creek Lake, Battle Creek Road, and Battle Creek Entrance Road. The Creek and Battle Creek Entrance Road are in the game, you plod from the top to the bottom of one to get to the other, bringing you to the area of the coin.

Clue #6
If you see some trash, throw it away
For Earth Day is Everyday
But don't be rash, it's slow to discover
What lies beneath camo ground cover

“Earth Day is Every Day” is the motto of the Elementary School at Battle Creek.
To find it you needed to search thoroughly , the puck was covered with dirt, leaves and dry grass (camo ground cover).

Clue 7:
Here but a course not in view
Is it a lake or a pond?
Follow the trails south on your pursue
And you too could scream YA MON!

This clue refers again to the new golf course, named “The Pond at Battle Creek”, and tells you to follow the trails away from it to the southern part of the park.

Clue 8:
This one is more than a two-stepper
I do mean this from the heart
So find a man as funny as himself
To get an early smart start

The coin was hidden a little more than 2 steps away from the heart of the tree. Bill Cosby (B.C.) starred in the comedy “Himself”. Smart Start is a cereal made by Kellogg, who’s headquarters is in Battle Creek, MI.

Our coin has been out there
Since the beginning of time it seems
It's been out there so long
It's haunting my dreams

The beginning of time=B.C.

Clue 9:
Before we put you in
Another kind of mental trance
This should help you find your road
Learn phonetics to advance

Keep in view the running stream
Remember Snow, Wizardry and Magic
Elements to button up it seems
Knowing not this park is tragic

Phonetically spelled Batl Krek in the first letters of each line, also put in trance road at the end of the first few lines to give you Battle Creek Entrance Road. Wizardry Magic and Snow were the themes of winter carnival buttons 3 years (57, 70, 95) it was at Battle Creek.

Clue 10:
Without trouble think of how
I will ease your mind
Grass, woods and walkways, Pow!
And a hard 1 of a kind

The second line is from the song “A Bridge Over Troubled Water” referring to the bridge near the treasure site, and “troubled water” refers again to “Battle Creek”. There is grass woods and walkways in the area. Pow! Was a Batman reference to suggest the caves, and a hard one of a kind is the missing plaque nearby.

Clue 11:
Marleys 1st name and a short comedian
Combined to make a transportation show star
All these you can see from the brown meridian
And from the treasure one near, one far

Steve is Marley’s first name, and Martin Short the short comedian, combined to make Steve Martin- star of “Planes Trains and Automobiles”. You can see all three from the brown sign on the circular median, and autos and planes from the treasure site.

From the treasures eye
Seen is water on high
And another that falls
Near holes in the walls

You can see (at least) one water tower in the distance from the treasure site, a small waterfall, sparrow holes, and caves in the cliffs.

Bonus clue from Marley
If zone 1 was evil
And zone 2 was a fake
4 and 5 bring your advil
well its zone 3 for criminey sake!

Obvious

Clue 12:

Battle Creek is the park
If you’re still in the dark
Go now and you will see

\09In the lot park your car
\09Cross the bridge not too far
\09By the creek is a lonely tree

Search down to the right
While keeping in sight
Picnic tables that number three

\09Inside a black hockey puck
\09Our coin is securely stuck
\09In a hole covered by compost debris

Clues 1, 3,4 and 5 were tweaked at the last minute, before the first clue, to spell something as an extra hint to the year the clue writer spelled out Battle Creek with the first letter of each clue. We stopped after clue 5 because thats the clue it was found on that year.

Clue 9 was taken from our extra clues and tweaked and added at the last minute. People were still talking about Crosby and we thought (intended that) everyone would be in the right park by 6 or 7 (or possibly as early as clue 3).

The bonus clue added to 11 was written at the last minute just to make sure everyone in the same area.

I'm glad everyone had fun, we had a blast watching from the side lines!

Good Explanation...now tell me more about this bar in Isle. I go up that way every weekend. I remember when Smokin Hill was being built but that was several years ago. Is this establishment under new ownership? or is this a new place I havent seen yet? I helped out there once changing light bulbs in all the recessed lights by the bar. I also am the one that suggested they have a "men's" night there. They need to open up early on Thursday. Also do you know that nice looking blonde lady who won alot of money playing the pull tabs and bought me beer all night? I never got her name. She drove a new Caddy(Black) IF you do, tell her I said thanks. Check out Pine Inn near Glen next time you are up that way. Thats where I hang out usually after Smokin HIll of course :)

Art - Thanks for posting the definitions to the clues. They were fun to try and figure out, even though East Side & I didn't have too much time to actually go out and "dig" for it.

The bowling party sounds like fun! I think i'll have to stop by for a little while, grab a bite to eat and watch everyone play.

I got quite a bit of the clues right but the pleasant surprises were...

Wizardry Magic and Snow were the themes of winter carnival buttons 3 years (57, 70, 95) it was at Battle Creek.

I was gonna use that idea in my hunt- HOLY COW- I cannot believe you guys thought of that idea too -using button themes!!!!

Pow! Was a Batman reference to suggest the caves

and the POW! I thought of the cartoons but didnt take it a step furthur with caves! I actually walked around in BC punching like in Batman! POW! BANG!

AW is right when he says I will throw out ideas and the right one gets buried somehow! cool!
