I grew up with the impression that the flag, golf balls, and footprints were all up there unchanged, and would be until the end of time because of the lack of atmosphere. I never considered the thrust of the landing module. It's kind of depressing, thinking that stuff is all buried under a layer of exhaust dust.
Had to bring my car in to the shop this mornin cus the service engine soon light came on last Sunday. the guy call's me up and says all they can figure is the gas cap is not shut all the way. I hate new model cars, at least it did not cost me any thing.
Thank you for your recent e-mail/survey results. I really appreciate response and updates from elected officials.
My sister-in-law is a former long-time employee of Mystic Lake, and has worked at the Canterbury cardroom since it opened. She told me that dealers at Mystic Lake are being trained to deal some (or all?) of the poker games offered at Canterbury Park. I will admit that I don't know the law or legislation which permitted the cardroom to open. I had assumed that it was a one-time license, strictly for Canterbury Park.
During this past session, the tribes were upset that a FEW slot machines at a racetrack where gambling ALREADY occurs, would hurt their business and lead to lost jobs. Now that Canterbury Park has been denied the NEEDED racino legislation, how is it possible for the casinos to start offering poker?
I'm very much interested in learning how this can happen.
Thanks for your letter. I also thought Canterbury received a sole license to operate poker tables, but since it was before my time at the Legislature I will have to look at the statute to find out.
I don't believe the other casinos were given authority to operate poker tables in their original authorization and I don't know of any since, but I will check on that also.
at the moment, the only poker you can play at mystic is video poker, at least as far as i know anyway. and since that's all done by computer, being a computer geek, i have to assume that its rigged. :)
but that's also where real card poker is different from every other game at a casino. you're not playing against the house; they just take their share of each pot.
M2K3 - You can check out the following link or you can always show up at North Valley in IGH too. There's usually a guy set up out of his van there. And if he isn't, you can always go to the Texaco station located right up the hill from there on Cahill and 70th. It looks like Kaposia is still closed due to erosion problems that need fixing first. Most people have been playing NV instead. I've actually have come to enjoy the park much more now that we've been playing it instead of KP. Good luck. I'm always game for a game if you're lookin' for a partner.
Mornin all just got home from another night in the pit. The latest rumor going around work is no raises this year think I'm going to start looking for another job.
Hokey smoke, they're tearing down Maplewood II movie theater! I grew up in WBL and saw a lot of flicks there. It was kind of cool to see the inner guts of the theater when I drove past last night. They're almost 50% done, so if you want to see it, today could be your last chance...
I didn't think there were any more of those 'ancient' theaters around any longer since the megaplex was introduced. When comparing the old and new styles, I say good riddance. Unless it's a theater that was built before 1960 with the large seats and wide aisles, those 70's era theaters always kinda sucked. Other than the memories, I won't be sad to see them go. Although I do like destruction. Thanks Frosti.
P.S. - Is that the stand-alone theater where they used to have those midnight movies all the time? If so, that is sad thing indeed. I think I saw Pink Floyd's The Wall at least 40 times there. It was a regular Friday night event after the bar or a party in my younger days. Those late night theaters always had a kinda weird funky smell to them. ;-)
Med2K3 - There is a shop in Rosedale Mall - near the JCPenney - right next to the OLD Spencers location -dont know the name but they sell colorful things- including a nice selection of frisbees for frisbee golf.
Maplewood II was one of the early-type multiplexes. They had 6 screens and it was probably built in the late 70's/early 80's. I don't remember Maplewood I being built, but I remember when Maplewood II was added. It was a decent place, nothing fancy. Driven out of business by the next generation of stadium seating. Maplewood I is still standing vacant. That's where I used to see the midnight movies. I worked next door at Esteban's (now Acapulco)during high school. We always got the movie rushes. I saw The Hitcherthere at the midnight show. Very fun!
I hear they're going to build a transit hub for bus service on the Maplewood II site.
thats cool frosti I have heard that some nut job asked buzz aldren if the moon landings were fake and he punched the nut in the face. LOL

but I don't get why they don't know...how come they don't check?
I know our children, our future generation want to know!
What does M and M stand for anyway?

That's sooooooooooo cute. I never knew that tho.
Oh, and thanks for posting here instead of there. It's about time you realized that you weren't welcomed over there. ;-)
Hmmm, I wonder where over there might be? Where would Me2 not be welcomed?

Ahh that feels much better had one doppelbock and I think I'll have another.

That's 2 days ago. I can't remember that far back now that I'm unemployed. ;-)
Don't think it was me tho. Gray Cougar? Personalized plates?

I think it was a dark color. Didn't notice the plates.
Looked like you though.
Did I have a camera strapped to my face, a disc golf bag under my arm and a beer in my hand while listening to some loud-ass, thumpin' metal tune? ;-)
