Med2K3 - There is a shop in Rosedale Mall - near the JCPenney - right next to the OLD Spencers location -dont know the name but they sell colorful things- including a nice selection of frisbees for frisbee golf.
I believe it's called Air Traffic. And I think the theater CM was thinking of is the Maplewood Plaza which is not only still there, but was rennovated a bit not too long ago. It's owned by a fairly young guy who I think is also the same guy that owns the Brookdale 8. he has special movie screenings there sometimes of old classic movies. I've even seen him taking tickets himself before.
Hey AW - Is that theater the dollar theater my mom talks about? She says the owner of her dollar theater takes tickets and talks to the audience before each show. That is, until she boycotted the place when one of the cashiers griped when she seen her grandson toss a candy wrapper into the garbage after the show saying that it was wrong and cuts into their revenue. She talked to the owner, who she knew for a while because she went there 3 times a week (buying a large popcorn, Coke and Milk Duds each time), and he agreed with the cashier. I guess I don't disagree, but look how much her patriotism to that theater has cost the guy. He could of simply told her it was OK this time but please don't do it again as other patrons might get the same idea or something. I'm sure she would understand since she really enjoyed the place. Unfortunately for me, her annual Mothers Day present costs a heckofalot more now that she goes to that full priced theater in Oakdale.

I don't get it. Aren't candy wrappers supposed to go in the garbage?
And to be honest, if an employee says something and they're not wrong about it, but then the manager doesn't back them up on it and makes the employee look bad just to please the customer, that's kind of low too.
mornin all I bolted out of bed this morning at 7am after 4 hrs. of sleep to get ready for the tree guys. They are taking down my oak tree this morning the yard is all ready full and all they have down is the branches. since dawg and I decided to keep all the wood for fires I will be vary busy this and most likely next weekend.
Was the candy wrapper from candy bought somewhere else?
Oops, now that I reread it, I didn't quite say that it was one of those bite size Snicker bars that he just unwrapped and ate there on the spot. Sorry 'bout that.
if an employee says something and they're not wrong about it, but then the manager doesn't back them up on it and makes the employee look bad just to please the customer, that's kind of low too.
True, but the manager could play both sides of the fence since the employee wasn't involved in their separate conversation. Either way the point was made and the employee did the right thing. Being a manager for many years, I know the importance of keeping everybody happy on both sides.
In a way, it almost seems like a good sign that someone working as a cashier actually even cares enough about the welfare of the theater to say something like that in the first place.
On the other hand, if someone's not going to buy candy at movie theater prices, then they're not going to buy it and disallowing them to sneak in other food probably isn't going to make a big difference.
Happy fathers day to all the dads out there. I'm 3/4s of the way done cutting up all the branches from our tree that we had taken down on Friday man talk about hard labor I'll never make fun of lumber jacks again.
Hope every one had a wonderful weekend. I got most of the tree branches cut up and I'm wiped out. Guess I'll finish it up next weekend. Cant wait to have my first fire in my own back yard.
Ares, any idea how to stop Kaaza from loading on boot? I've turned it off in the program, and it's not in start-up, but it continues to load when I boot?
sorry ... My son had the same problem on his computer. He wasn't using it anymore, so I got rid of it. Has it changed in the last year? He said he couldn't find what he wanted.
They just had an update on 5/27 to fix that exact problem. V2.1.1 allows you to turn off the auto-startup feature. It does have some conflicts with Norton and other anti-virus progs tho. I think that's why they push their own security prog. Either way it still works but just has a few kinks every now and then unless you disable your protection. After DLing the new version just go to Tools/Options/MyKazaa and uncheck the 'Launch Kazaa Media Desktop automatically' box. Either that or just go back to using WinMx. I definitely like Win better but unfortunately it is steadily loosing it's users to Kazaa. Good luck
hello- we had bonfires in our backyard Saturday and Sunday evening - we love the smell of burning wood but not the aftersmell that lingers if you kept your house windows open during the bonfires. :(
We also set off a lot of fireworks. we kinda had a fireworks wars with a few neighbors-2 houses on our west and 1 house to our east - they set off theirs then we set off ours- they had mostly noisemakers we had the big guns so we won!
when I was at work last night my next door neighbor came over and cut up about half the branches I have left to cut up. Since before I moved in to this house with Dawg I have all ways rented seems when you own your house the neighbors are a lot nicer then when you are the scum that rented the house next door.
the neighbors are a lot nicer then when you are the scum that rented the house next door.
Yeah, I always wondered why it was so hard to invest in a 'hi' every now and then.
Hey, I have a question for you guys. Please let me know how you feel about this as I'm not sure if I'm just making this a big deal or if it is actually bothersome. I bought a car flag yesterday from Walgreens of the American flag. I didn't see the price, I just wanted a replacement for my old one. The cashier had to do a price check on it and it was 2.99. Pretty cheap for a car flag as I paid $10 for the one I bought right after 9/11. Anyway, I get home and open it up only to find the most cheap-ass product that I've ever bought in my life. I waved it around a couple of times and the flag ripped right off the pole without hesitation. If I put it on my car in the Walgreens parking lot it wouldn't of made it out to the street. And the main issue I have is when I looked at the base of the pole and saw that it was made in China. China! WTF?!? I realize that there are many, many products that I use on a daily basis that are made in other countries, but this American flag thing was bugging me. I returned it today for a refund and the Manager agreed with me and said that he would pass it on but I didn't know if he was just saying that for my sake or what. I went to look at the other products on the 'patriotic' display and found about half of them were made in other countries like Belgium and the Philippines. The books and quality wood products were made in Wisconsin. (although there might be some of you that think Wisconsin is a foreign country, we'll say it isn't for the purpose of this story anyway.) Sorry about the rambling but I want you to get a clear picture of the situation. I might not normally even think of something like this if I wasn't unemployed so I'd like some unbiased opinions. Thanks in advance for your response to this long ass post.
i'm not so sure there ought to be a law about it; however there's just something inherently wrong with flying an american flag tht was made in china. it doesn't quite click, ya know?
Well certainly the American way would be to let the market determine it. If people don't want American flags made in China, they won't buy them and if there's no demand, they won't make them.
CM if the flag was made in America it would most likely cost $50.00. I was going to buy one of those flags from there about two weeks ago I'm glad I did not waist my money, thank you for the consumer report.
Just had one of the weirdest experiences of my 34 years. Sitting on the floor, folding laundry. All of a sudden, a woman walks in my front door. She says one of my neighbors pulled a gun on her and wants to use my phone. I'm thinking "Heck yes, call 911!" No. She calls her friend. Friend won't pick her up. Calls somebody else. No dice. Then she wants to borrow cab money from me. One, I don't have a lot of cash on hand. Two, the last person who came to my door had a gas can and wanted to borrow $3 to get gas. Never saw him again in my life. Rule is, I don't "borrow" money to strangers. I do offer to help and drive her home. After lots of , "no, just money" she agrees. So I drive her to what I think is her home. Nope. "Wait here, I've gotta run in." So I wait. 10 minutes later she's back. Then I take her someplace else. I don't think it was home, but it's where I left her.
No...
You were listening to Air Supply.
You were wearing purple and pink polka dotted pants, and a tight orange sweater.
You had a bag, but it had "Bag of Love" embroidered on it (With a cheesy heart in place of the "O").
You kept saying "Hi sailor, wanna see my tug-boat?" to every guy that walked by.

It must have been me then. You've perfectly described my off-screen persona.
Thanks A Lot!

So what do you think of this for a quote?
"You're never going to get anywhere if you don't have somewhere to go."

I guess the line has to be drawn somewhere.

is it even possible to buy an american flag that was made in america?
I agree with you completely CM. Being unemployed has given you too much time to think about random stuff. hehe
So you're saying, there ought to be a law to have patriotic items only manufactured in the US?
i'm not so sure there ought to be a law about it; however there's just something inherently wrong with flying an american flag tht was made in china. it doesn't quite click, ya know?
