whats funny is they got rid of the only two guys in my department that did any work, it would be funny to be a fly on the wall and watch all those million dollar presses going down cus the guy in the plate room dose not know how to do his job. LOL looks like my vac. starts early.
I havent missed a year since i been born ( laurence of arabia was best film that year) I plan on spending 300 bucks and gaing 35 pounds. I call it "hunting warmth" for the upcoming treasure hunt. Besides i luv french fries... :) remember if u hear someone playing Come Sail Away on the piano somewhere, say hi :)
Damn VJ. We need to start up a support group for us non-employed. We can meet at some local bar to discuss our future plans and such. ;-) Sad to hear duude. Enjoy the summer now that it's cooled down buddy.
Well dawg and I went round and round about job's that were available and we decided that I should go back to school. So I call up Brown College to see how hard it would be to get back in and since it has not been a year yet since I dropped out they can get me back in right where I left off. Is that cooler or what.
ok- this Farley thing sounds cool-especially if you go today or tomorrow -then maybe not as many people either A: know about it yet or B: not that many people are going compared to later in the week! but I suppose tomorrow will be one of the busiest.
HEY FYI- My husband Mark will be on (I think channel 9-the channel with Roxanne Battle) again talking plant stuff...FROM THE FAIR! cooler or what- he gets a free day pass and gets to be on TV :)
He's very 'befitting' as a spokesman for Linders. You got yourself a smart and good looking guy there J. He seems very comfortable in front of the cameras too.
So, like - you know? I'm into scale models. 1" to 1'. And Pops and I happened to be over in Sin City (Minneapolis) and saw a garage sale sign wherein was advertised "a large, uncompleted dollhouse."
It became mine/ours (Pops likes scale models, too.) because I felt sorry for it and wanted to give her a home - even though I had no idea what she was going to become architechturally style-wise.
That was on a Sun. The VERY NEXT DAY Larry Millett did an article on this house designed by Clarence Johnston, in 1907, on Snelling. Alex Haley had lived there and Malcom X (this part's not substantiated) was there the year bee4 he was killed. The house had been owned by Macalester College, they'd sold it, and now own it again. The President o'the College's gonna live there now.
And man! THAT was my house!!! The picture in the paper looked just like the dollhouse we'd gotten the day bee4!!! Pops and I both like the Arts & Crafts Movement, Frankie Wright, and all that architectural stuff, so we decided we'd do the dollhouse just like the house on Snelling Ave.
About two weekends ago, after Pops working the Highland Water Tower Open House, we decided to tool past the house on Snelling to have a look-see, you know? In person? Not a pic.
Man! WHAT A GORGEOUS HOUSE!!! Pops pulled over next to the curb and I went running up to the door so I could touch it. Such a beautiful door (sigh). Millett had said the house was empty...
Well, as I peek in the side light window, next to the door I see this guy, this workman, moving around and he comes to the door and asks if he could help me.
I told him about reading the article in Mom Press about the house, and we were driving by and I just HAD to touch the house and look at it up close - it's so beautiful. I apologized for disturbing him and xplained that I thought the house was empty.
He replies, "Yes, we're just moving in."
You could hear Pops behind me, muttering and praying for the ground to open up and swollow not only him, but me as well...
And one to NEVER get or remember the high points of articles chirped, "Oh! YOU must be the college guy!" (I heard Pops moan, then hit the pavement behind me...)
"Yes," and he smiled and put out his hand, "I'm (quote) 'the collge guy' (end quote)."
I did my best to apologize - Pops was hyperventilating - and this gracious, wonderful man - Mr. Brian Rosenberg - INVITED US INTO HIS BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS HOUSE SO THAT WE COULD SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The house is stunning; just breath-taking. I've trod where Alex Haley paced while writing "Roots"!!! The floors, the fixtures - you should SEE the fireplace!!!
And... In explaining to this kind man just why I'd been peering in his front window, he said we could come back in 2-3 or so months and take pictures of the house in order to better do the dollhouse!!!
Allison, I was sorry to read about your recent visit to Woodwinds. I, too, had an unxpected drop-in there... I refuse to go quietly into that nite called "old age"... Was at BC (once a Coolerhead, always a Coolerhead!), my first 'real' time on Rollerblades. I ended up completely breaking my radius in two, broke the tip end off my ulna, and - in the words of the doctors - "completely crushed the end" of my radius. Two surgeries and MUCH physical therapy later, I'm almost back to normal!
No, ittiz snot easy being green. Ittiz hard being STUPID. I - prior to getting on the RB's... - thought back to all the things I weathered as a kid. Didn't need no stinkin' helments, elbow pads, knee pads, wrist guards back then!
WE WERE TUFF!!!
Well, there's no fool like an old fool - or a green old fool. You can bet yur ever-lovin' arse the NEXT time I get up on Rollerblades, I WILL have taken proper precautions and practice safe Rollerblading. (Will also be on level ground and INDOORS.)
Though, in my defense, I must say that when asked at the ER if I'd had on wrist guards and I answered, "Does it look like it?" I was told that wrist guards are not a guarantee one will not break their wrist(s).
I see kids whizzing by me these days and I'm torn. Half o'me wants to knock the livin' spit outta them, and knock some sense into their heads. The udder half envys them and I think, "If THEY can do it, *I* can do it!"
I think I'll continue to err on the side o'caution my next time out...
P.S. Udder than my broken-in-three-places left arm (THANK GODS IT WAS MY LEFT!), I sustained a very very small bruise on my right knee and a wee, tiny scrap on my right elbow.
Hey G, nice to hear from ya. Cooler story on the doll house deal! Sorry to hear 'bout your run in with old age. Can I kiss it and make it feel better? :-) Dr. Master in da hizouse
well went to the fair and ate plenty of food. I think I gained 39 pounds in one day :) life is great!!!! They got rid of the baby grand piano though I used to play it every year at the fair :( hmmm..french fries and sweet martha cookies... even better than sex!
ooooh- and it was hot out yesterday too- they claimed it was the hottest day of the year- I contest! A week ago Friday was the hottest day- try telling that to a woman during her time.
We may go to the fair tomorrow
we thought Thursday was "kids day" but I guess that is today.
hey everyone-I found out about this at Grand Old Days- people handed out little 3 by 3 cards with information---I just found it again--- this would be fun to get everyone together again NOW--except poor Ian probly wont come :) hahahaha

hey -thanks tmk- nice to see you :) my neighbor has a blind date on Thursday with a man from Iowa-she thought it odd to go out with someone from so far away-I explained to her that I know of at least 2 people currently dating someone from such distance. The man is flying in for 2 days to visit family, get a haircut... and go on this date-
my thought was, maybe he has a specific person he likes that cuts his hair. I have a stylist but Mark could care less and go to great clips or cost cutters. His $15 cut to my $150 cut and color. (note though that my stylist is a man that cuts hair for models, Chers group, Cindy Laupers group, that guy from Pearl Harbor that lives around here somewhere-Josh Hartnett.
I know I know-NO comments from the peanut gallery on how my hair looks now! I need to get in to see him again.
ok- I am looking at ALL the B&B websites in the Duluth area because we have to attend a wedding in September up there.
