is it actaul rock or cement?
If its rock - is it rubble or big too heavy to carry pieces?
sandstone/limestone?

All I saw was cement, but there may be more stuff down there.

its like... cement or whatever... i dunno anything about cement types..... its gotta buncha different colored rocks up in in though... it looks weird as hell.

I found out the other day, when talkin with my mom, about how the bridge (street) was bricks before, they paved it with tar or whatever.... she was thinkin that if they knocked the thing down, that some of the bricks would probably be at the bottom of the piles.... dunno.... just a thought I guess.

Anybody familiar with the bridge will recognize the big steel rails that used to run down each side.

I was down there again yesterday, and got another piece.... it had a big ass piece of metal sticking out of one side of it, that fell off, when I picked it up.

I think they tore up the brick road that went down the side of the bridge, next to where Spanky's used to be.... I wonder what they did with all of that, and the stuff that was underneath the tar on the bridge, itself...

Good memories on a bridge?

What exactly were you doing?

I spit off it once, when I was a lil kid...

Me and Shaggs brother climbed up there right after they closed it and hung up a huge ass bed sheet with stuff spray painted on it about the war...

My kids used to love running up and down the iron steps they had on that bridge. They also liked sitting up there and watching the wreckers move cars around at Budget Towing.

My question is, what are they going to put in it's place? Phalen Corridor is supposed to run through somewhere down there. I'm wondering if they will have a bridge at all.

They have to have something for people and cars to get across the tracks. Maybe just a regular road that has to stop for trains?
(cars have to stop for the train NOT the road-)

That's what I'm wondering. Maybe they're going to have the road go down and connect right to Phalen Blvd. Those tracks aren't heavily used, so it wouldn't be that big a deal to wait for trains. Their map doesn't give a lot of info.

Their putting another bridge in.

My sister has been e-mail back and forth with the people from the city who are incharge of the project. Their going to work on the new bridge throughout the winter.

Through the winter? Jebus. They're certainly taking their sweet time getting that thing done...

Yeah... they started WAY after they were oringinally going to.... according to the guy that my sister has been talking to, it was because they were waiting for two businesses to close down that never wanted to, and ended up evicting them instead.

My only question was "what businesses" because from what I can see, the only one gone, is the place where Spanky's used to be.... but thats been gone for a while already.

3M shouldn't be close enough to disturb the bridge. I know that the city was having difficulty negotiating with 3M over the Phalen Corridor project, but I think it was for another area of the project.

nice avatar ESD! We love Paris (more for the romance and wine) but if you change your thoughts a bit to think more like me...It doesn't really look like the Eiffel Tower if yah know what I mean ;)

Spanky's is on Jefferson Ave. near Victoria.
used to be a nice place-but I havnt been there lately.

Hey Kel - I was talking to a friend of mine about you
how lucky of a person you are
didn't you win a spot on a tv show and then you didn't do it and they compensated you-? what show was that? I wanted to say Beavis and Butthead but I couldnt remember

Fri, 09/19/2003 - 7:31 AM Permalink
Marleyking

Nope I was not in That was then this is now: > (

And about kell kinda--

We sent in post cards for the "Beavis and Butthead Do America" contest on Mtv. She won--The prize was $5000 cash and a big screen tv and she was also suppose to get to have her likeness to appear in a episode of Beavis and Butthead. Beavis and Butthead got cancelled so therefor her show never got made. : > (

they shoulda put her in another show then-who owns that show?
