Thanks for the help Bud. KFAN is not advertising it very well. I go there and must have missed it.

Thanks, JT. Same to you! = )

I know what yer saying , Wolvie. I had to hunt around. Last I heard the Vikings radio broadcasts went from KFAN to WCCO. It appears that KFAN got the rights back. I didn't see any evidence of that until I found their schedule and read it in the link above. But, that's that. Problem solved. = )

Oh great now you have to pay to listen to the NFL on line. It used to be free, now you have to pay. Looks like Wolvie will be getting a dish now.

Some Kind Of Love?

The original meaning is Scandinavian and means cheers - as in the beer toast. Also used as 'Go' Vikings.

They didn't look bad. Preseason is so hard to tell but it gave me a little hope as to what the season holds. Dante looks like a new QB and back to old form perhaps. The "O" line looked solid as well which should help the running game, hell I could have ran through some of the holes they made. The "D" looked o.k but it's hard to tell with half the starters out due to injury. I hope they come back soon and can get in symch with eachother. Could at least be a fun and compettitive year though. :) SKOL !

Here is my draft result for FF.....

Tell me what you all think.....

QB's Manning and Green

WR's Robinson, Toomer, Driver and Hillard

RB's Alexander, Davis, Buckhalter, and Peterson(Chi)

TE's Shockey and Miller(Hou)

K's Gramatica (TB), Vinatieri

LB's Gold, Thomas and Porter

Since we have to start 3 defensive players each week, I will be looking to drop one player and pick up another LB or DB. One of the Giant WR's I have or Peterson.

Is A-train starting for the Bears this year?

IMO Wolvie, could be some sleepers their that come alive this year. The biggest big names on the list that could be a let down.................Shockey & Green. Could have great years though but I see letdown coming with those two. You took some chances though it looks like which could pay off big time especially considering injuries. I don't do F.F anymore since I don't have time but I'l root for ya :)

:)

Can't wait !

I think we have a good chance of winning. The only thing I worry about is all the rookies getting wound up too tight on opening day at Lambeau no less. Then again the Pack has rookies too and they're pretty beat up from what I hear. Should be fun though.

The Slackers D maybe as bad as ours was last year.

I didn't know that was possible to get any worse ;) I hear what you're saying though. I don't think the slackers D is going to strike fear into any opponent. I think our D will be o.k I'd say around the middle of the league maybe a little better. The secondary scares the hell out of me but we should improve overall. If we can be average on D our offense should carry us at least to the NFC Nord title and a playoff appearance. Just an appearance this year should be looked at aa a huge step.

I noticed that the Pats let Lawyer Milloy go. He would look great as a Viking! I would like to see the Vikes pick him up, we have the cap room and I would feel better about our secondary.

Any of you hear the Sporting News named Bret Fah-Vra the best player in the NFL?? Heh.... Guess that means we all gotta root for the fudge packers this weekend, then right?

Wed, 09/03/2003 - 3:25 PM Permalink
Luv2Fly

It was too much money for Milloy. He's good against the run and week on the pass. We're already good on the run and weak on the pass. Would he have been an upgrade ? Sure. But not enough of an upgrade IMO to warrant that much money.

With Milloy getting released, he had a choice of where he wanted to go. He could have gone for high money, he could have gone for a super bowl contender. I think he went with the Bills because it gave him a chance to possibly go on to the super bowl, as well as a chance to get back at the Patriots for releasing him. I'm glad the Vikings didn't throw big money at him because this one player isn't the final piece to the puzzle. Too many pieces needed or that can be upgraded before our puzzle is finished.

ThoseMedallingKids 9/3/03 7:05pm

I think he was overpriced for what he could contribute. Could he contribute ? Sure. But his numbers were way down last year. 0 int. 0 fumble recoveries and 0 sacks. He's good against the run which we already were. Let's cross our fingers and hope the new guys can make it work. Anything has to be better than last years secondary (gulp) at least I hope so. I think with Malloy we would have been paying alot for a name. Would it be good to have him ? Sure. But at what cost ?

Wed, 09/03/2003 - 7:14 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

Milloy was a really good leader in the locker room. That can be a big factor. For a team that is poised to make a room at the super bowl, I think he could be a great addition, depending on what that team had at safety. To get him here would have cost us too much, where we can develop the younger players we have and use the money down the road for some other good additions.

hehe

That's what made it even a better win. Especially in front of a record crowd.

With the exception of that stupid-ass play where Culpepper ran the ball late in the 4th, the Vikes actually looked pretty good. Moss could be the man once again.

Moss could be the man once again.

Never let me catch you saying those words ever again.

I'll admit... he's prolly got more skill than most people, but... "The Man" is something he will never be. :) Dont get me wrong yo... im down with the purple, but.... ehhhh... come on... Im not givin Moss any props, anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm being totally optimistic with Randy. He's just like DC, as soon as you start having faith in them.... BLAMM, dropped balls and interceptions. Just looking for a ray of hope is all.

You guys have to remember his age when he came in. Giving money like that not to mention spotlight would be tough for any kid to handle. Yes he certainly could have handled himself better. But I think as he matures he's becoming even better. He realizes that a carreer in the NFL is short, I think he's getting that now. He seems to be working harder and will be a huge plus this year. Any team in the league would love to have him. Many teams in the league would love to have Culpepper as well. In short I think the sports writers have underestiumated the Vikings very badly. Are they a Superbowl team ? Who knows, look at who's been winning them, The Rams, The Pat's, The Raven's and now the Bucs. Each of those teams had their strenghts and weakness' but nobody with the exception of the Bucs maybe was picked to win it all. Of course sports writers picked the Bucs for about 4 years so eventually thye had to be right.

The days of dominating dynasties I think are over. With cap moves, free agency and successfull players going from team to team, it's hard to keep good squads intact. I think we're too quick to jump on the Vikes as being bad and too quick to ballyhoo them when they win. In short I think they have a shot if they play consistently. If they play like they did yesterday they'll go far. If they have a letdown next week their not worthy of winning anything.

My Packer friends are pretty quiet today ;) Snicker.

It was sweet ! Considering the wierd things that have happened at Lambeau and getting downright screwed last year it was good to go into their renewed lambeau and beat the snot out of them. It was good to see them open a can of whoop ass :)

I think you are kidding yourself.

Why so Jethro. Are you the same person you were when you were 21 ?

Are you the same in your profession then ?

Ask any team if they want Moss and see what they say. There's a reason that teams gameplan specifically for HIM. The Pack made some of their selections based on Moss.

Mon, 09/08/2003 - 11:31 AM Permalink
Byron White

Of course, not. I didn't have a profession then. It maybe that the reason I have one today is that I have grown up. It can't possibly be the same for the same for pro athletes.

I'm not an apologist, I'm being a realist. Would I want to hang out with Randy for a day ? No, I think he's still a class A jerk. But he also is a talented ball player. They revise entire defensive schemes and setup for their secondary because of his talent. Sometimes even the double coverage isn't enough. Like him or not he's talented. And he helped get the job done Lambeau.

Mon, 09/08/2003 - 5:36 PM Permalink

I just dont give him props on the field. I see the talent, yeah. But... eh, whatever man... Bring back Carter.. he was the shit.

Yeah, he's my favorite Vike of all time but that's not unlike saying to bring back Ali, Gretzky or Sanders.

But he also is a talented ball player. I don't give a damn about his talent. The problem is that people forgive him for the crap he pulls because of it. Maybe that is the problem. There are more important things than athletic ability. But apparently there are to many people that have that as the top priority. I think that explains a lot of the social problems we have today.

Tue, 09/09/2003 - 6:48 AM Permalink
Wolvie

Bring back Carter.. he was the shit.

He was also a locker room and sideline distraction towards the end of his playing years. He was acting more like a coach and less like a player.

The problem is that people forgive him for the crap he pulls because of it.

And another problem I see is that people do not give him credit for the good things he does. He is always helping disadvantage kids. The only good thing I have seen in print is the story they did on him in preseason. The one with him and the little girl at training camp. He is growing as a person, he just needed more time.
