2003 ThoseMedalingKids Mock Hunt

Submitted by ThoseMedallingKids on

Here is all the pertinent information on the hunt:

The TMK mock hunt will start on Wednesday, September 17, and end on Sunday, September 28.

Clues will be released at 9 pm each night.

There will be 12 clues in all.

The treasure will be hidden on public land in Ramsey County (stay out of the fairgrounds, off the indian mounds)

The treasure will not be hidden in a spot that will endanger hunters (along a cliff, under an electrical box, on the water of a lake/river, etc)

If there are questions or concerns, please try reaching me by email or egram. I will have my cell phone with me, but while I am at work it will be off. I will check messages during breaks though.

Prize will be announced. Donations are welcome.

Terry

Not much in the way of leaves changing yet - just little pockets of 'em now and again. I was surprised.

And northern lights activity is likely mid week - but nothing going on with aurora borealis this weekend.

I can't find street names with z's in them yet by any park, me2. I'll keep checking.

I meant to tell you this a while back me2, but couldn't log in because I am on a different computer and ....well, it's a long story. Anyway, there is a building on the SE corner of Annapolis and Oakdale that is being renovated. It used to be a grocery store as I remember. They have, or at least they had, a couple of piles of old brick piled up on the sidewalk. I remember you looking for old brick and thought of you when I saw it. Not sure if it will still be there, or even if it's there for the taking, but it might be worth a look-see.

NOTE & RHYME: Mears Park is a beautiful setting for a classical music concert, especially since it is free to the public

me2

thanks OT -I will drive by and check it out

and-I have not yet read my Sunday paper-thanks for the headsup on the ice palace-I am truly excited about it this year!

I thought of Mears before with being a dog park and all and now with embark equal to Lowerlanding and lowertown from history and all

Mears Park is a beautiful setting for a classical music concert, especially since it is free to the public

Let me get this straight:
If it costed money to go to a concert there, Mears park would be less beautiful?

right- hahaha- well, thats what the website said Reg.

Except for Ebertz Ct., I can't find any other city street names anywhere with a Z.

It'll be interesting to see if the actual ice castle ends up looking like the painting. So much will depend on weather and ice conditions.

I like HI for embark and there was something else that gave an Island clue idea -I don't recall if it was the title in a song by Boston or what BUT that reminds me---on Bostons first album-selftitled BOSTON...there is a song with the word PEACE in it- maybe for Peace Park :)

keen eye could be hawkeye pierce

I am looking for word game kind of things tho, and I don't think stuff like that has any relevance

see- I knew I would find a gang connection to a park :)

Hamm's = Swede Hollow :)

Barker-Karpis Gang kidnapped William Hamm, Jr., president of the Hamm Brewing Company
The gang abducted Hamm as he walked from his brewery to the Hamm family mansion, 671 Cable Avenue at the intersection of Greenbrier and Margaret Streets.

Back to the Hawkeye Pierce idea - which would bring one to Newell...and trying to tie that in with Fairway/Fairview whatever....there used to be a driving range on Como near the fairgrounds. There was also a mini golf course there. Seems to me it was named Bulls Eye - but I might be wrong about that.

Of course this goes nowhere - but I thought I'd throw it into the mix.

also you need binoculars to see downtown Mpls from a top Swede

I have been thinking too much into the Keen Eye thing-I needed a break
Things came up with --Iris,hawk/falcon/bird, Hawkeye, Cherokee, Keenens Bar :) Kee Nee Yee, K&Y, eyeneek, aching I U C A

Sun, 10/05/2003 - 9:22 PM Permalink

ah yes-I recall the minigolf over there on Como- it had those huge fake animals to put by- I actually have fond memories of that place- :) nuf said

perfect reg and ter- putting the hawkeye into pierce butler-I looked at that st a couple hours ago and - I was thinking piercing as in sticking or stabbing or ears with the HEARD/CORNERED clue = ears for ear piercing but I like your thought better for it :) NICE -

Both times the WC treasure has been at Newell, they've used a Hawkeye Pierce clue to get you there.

Newell seems too obvious.

A well-trained eye.
Meant burlington train but we thought that was lame.
That was my first year noodling with cc if I remember correctly.

I believe with all my heart that the PP doesn't give us all the meanings for those clues. They tend to give us the very lowest common denominator. I always figured that was to not totally show their hand in all this.

Henry Sibley was a regional manager for a fur company - I can't recall the name of the bldg across the st from Mears park but I thought it had something to do with FUR-and on Sibley St :)

you guy's were talking about driving ranges, phalen does have a driving range right behind the building.

I got the feeling that 'driving range' is way out of..umm.. course.
this clue I believe makes us think of "fairway" and it coincides with the next line about the binocs and view. 'to the left' is a directional point of view that tells us this actually implies to Fairview Avenue Fair(-way)+view which borders Newell Park. ohh, I'm hooked on a feeling..... Look for a sign that states that all dogs must be on a leash. Also, I'm thinking that the word embark-which means 'board' suggests that there is a bus -----route nearby that can bring you to the park. These are my insights. And I do think the Butler did it :) IF someone got a big pot and a way to boil water I can bring 20 pds of Alaskan King Crab to Newell
