The Pioneer Press medallion has been found. Details are at our Winter Carnival page.
The hunt's over, but the discussion rages on ...

Directions from Stillwater:
Take 36 west to Hwy 35E. Take 35E south to the Wacouta exit. Go straight to 7th street, take a right. Travel west to Smith. Take a left, go across the river. The park is RIGHT THERE immediately on theother side of the river
Allie - 2B on Map 81... Ryan - Mother is messin' wicha... Mother - Good Job... Doodle Bug - Is that the Mama Rose brand macaroni people are talking about? If so it's nice to see the first connection between the 'Mother Lode' and 'Rosebud' spelled out. I'm still a firm beliver on the brand name of sleds being 'Rosebud', but I never knew how they made the pasta connection. Never herd of Mama Rose.
Steve, if you're refering to the "Rosebud" in clue 3, yes, the Citizen Cane explanation has been out there for a long time. Some still don't think it refers to a sledding hill, but I sure do.
As I pour myself another stoly, I once again think back to what makes this entire endevor worthwhile. Specifically, making others more miserable that you are.
I remember a few years ago when I was feverishly digging around a baseline in a highland ballfield. A group of guys were standing around talking about how "I was 20 feet from the guy who found it last year" etc. Finally, I stood up and said, "are you guys going to dig, or just stand there and talk?" The next day, I was looking for a good place to dig, when one of those guys said "hey, are you going to just walk around, or are you going to dig?". Within the hour, the same fellow found the medallion. And, I might add, I was no more than 20 feet from him.
what ideas do we have about "double division"? i was at cherokee today, doesn't seem to fit, mounds seems the best i think. i didn't see a good place for kids to zoom at CK, i like the word "aid" and the hospital at thorn and earl street at mounds

Vicki, some are saying that Cherokee is on the line between St. Paul and West St. Paul, and also the border of Ramsey county - "double" division. Seems to make sense
Dome Park is South of Aldrich and the division is the divisionst. and the division of St. Paul and Maplewood. You can see the Dome because part of the park is on a hill

As I've said from the begining, it is at Cherokee. This clue places it's location close to the Ramsey-Dakota and St. Paul-Lilydale border.
If you take water street you will get closer to it's location. When the medallion was last a Cherokee they also made references to the NSP smokestacks that are visible. I'm pretty sure it's high elevation allows you do see downtown (including the capitol or 1st national bank).
Ryan, then I'd probably rule Dome park out. The idea of it being a small park since the exact park is still not pinpointed is a good one, although, like I keep saying, Cherokee is sounding better and better...

The smoke stack is by the old Poor Farm.

Clue Master -- Wow, thanks for the efficient response!

Dome park would explain the "dome" clue.
Can you see the capital from cherokee?? I would assume so.

What The Hell<Does This Guy Take Medalians Before
He Gives The Clue$$$$$$
Clue Master:
Mother Lode is the Cathderal (lode-copper top; Mother Mary). The "domes) are Civic Center (I *think*/am thinking) and Capitol.
north st paul count for what?

hey what about phalen maplewood realy got pissed off when they
hid it in sleeping grass ? park. they tore it up.
I think everyone is in their cars right now.... ;)
Also, there's a sign on the front of the Civic Center telling about the new hockey team... "soon be back", in addition to being back in Cherokee.
hello Mother moco! Good to see you...went to cherokee park tonight...was really tore up already....
