Here is all the pertinent information on the hunt:
The TMK mock hunt will start on Wednesday, September 17, and end on Sunday, September 28.
Clues will be released at 9 pm each night.
There will be 12 clues in all.
The treasure will be hidden on public land in Ramsey County (stay out of the fairgrounds, off the indian mounds)
The treasure will not be hidden in a spot that will endanger hunters (along a cliff, under an electrical box, on the water of a lake/river, etc)
If there are questions or concerns, please try reaching me by email or egram. I will have my cell phone with me, but while I am at work it will be off. I will check messages during breaks though.
Prize will be announced. Donations are welcome.
I forgot to mention to a comment earlier- Langford used to be a lake/pond-water was pumped to it way way back-it was drained and turned into a park today :)
a caring home to get the bad guys would be the police station-Highland
Otto (auto) Hummer = the vehicle
water high- water towers
water low- swimming pools
How many parks realistically have "water low"? I don't think he's going to be referring to hockey rinks at this time of year. So either it would be a lake, a river, a pond, a pool, or you'd have to be up high looking down on something. Still sounds a lot like Indian Mounds though I can't recall if there's a water tower there. It seems like it would be a good place for one, but I don't see one in the guide. So in that case I'm not sure what the "water high" is.
Hey Reg, if you see this, I did find out Battle Creek has (or will have) a golf course, the range is open now, course coming up in 2004.
http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/parks/golf/ponds.asp
Its in Maplewood and not really connected to any part of Battle Creek park though. A friend of mine was the course designer.
When I was out looking at leaves, I think I might have seen Jake's van down at Bugg's Place. It's silver with darker stripey things, isn't it?
HP!
I went looking for my treasure, and I found it! Its still out there, so no worries about animals taking it.
I thought I seen you! ;>)
You're coming down tomorrow, not today :P
I saw a lot of squirrels in those bushes at Cherokee Kids. I was worried about the same thing. Saw Scooby Snacks at PetCo today. Was I close?
AS AW
True the golf course might not be connected to Battle Creek, but if you apply the using binoculars to see it... might still work. Landmarks aren't neccesarily in the parks.
well I took a drive to HP and the tennis courts are GONE Marley so there ;p
Done slogging.
I had a home visit this afternoon. It was soooo hard to go back into the office. I did go around a couple of parks though in the coming and going. Newell had tons of people for a Wednesday afternoon - but didn't appear to be any coolerheads. I didn't see any "caring" home around that park either. The tennis courts are there - but the golf thing just doesn't fit.
I think it was *MOM* yesterday that mentioned the 4th clue's reference to a New England band's cd could be 10000 Maniacs "In My Tribe". Cherokee is a tribe. It could also be a reference to Indian Mounds...but then again, what about the golf deal?
good clues here.....I agree with the boston - dont look back take, tying that to a park tho seems kind of suspect tho....
Nice to see you guys on here again!!
I may have to hit the road tonight and see if i can find some of you!!

I was hoping to come up with more before the clue :(
Everyone knows the tennis and water at least, so that leaves less than a handfull as possibilities.
very near you will embark- near Harriet which would be Cherokee OR El Rio Vista
He says he "spelled out" the name of the park already. So why haven't we figured it out yet? Is it some code we haven't discovered yet? Like every other letter in the first words in a line?
well i dont think he said he SPELLED OUT
just that he gave the park already -so it could have been the Star Wars Vehicle or the caring home
I just took a quick look and the first two letters of the first clue are HI. But nothing after that that makes sense to me. Have you tried other combinations also? Like first letter, second letter, third letter, etc? Bye the way, nice usage of the word ersatz!
Do we know if he's working tonight? I don't see anyone logged in to post it yet.
I really wanted to know what that meant EXACTLY yesterday, and I can thank you for that.
I have tried many combos, yes. All my noodling has been with word games.
Glad I could help. :) My example wasn't as good as yours though. But you got it anyway. Have you tried it out on your friends yet?
I'm here to post. Do not fear.
Was there any doubt? ;)
Clue 8
