There's a ghostly Ian in that last one!
What is that sculpture in the foggy morning photos? There's two things, one on either side of the flagpole.
The twine ball. That used to sit in a yard along hiway 12. It's an impressive amount of twine! We would pass that coming and going to Inks folks all the time.
I remember when they decided they needed to move that and preserve it. There was a bunch of folks that thought the bottom of it would be all rotten from being out in the weather for so many years and that it might fall apart when they attempted to move it.
I think most people were surprised how well that twine had held up.
I only know of the great ball of twine from Chevy Chase - where is this one located?
The windmill pictures remind me of a trip we took years ago and I photographed windmills along the way. Hauled the kids out of the van and posed them in front of a windmill when we would happen upon one. Wisconsin sure has alot of windmills! Just ask my kids. :)
KIDS posing for pictures---hahahaaha
I NEVER thought I would be the mom that got to here all the time
"uuuuuh mom, not another picture!"
but I do here it all the time :)
I think that ball of twine is out west towards litchfield but I can't remember the name of the town, It's a really small town, dassel maybe?
or cokato?
The ball of twine was in Darwin. At least I believe it originated there. Still out there I think.
Kids - That's right. They moved it several years ago off that man's yard and into it's own weather protected shelter.
The ball of twine was in Darwin
That's right, I knew it was one of those town's out there :)
A very exciting day, witnessed by The Bowling Pin Travel Bug. This photo was taken minutes after the game. St. Paul Traveling League, Flaherty's Team #3, @ Minnehaha Lanes, Saint Paul. Teammates Kollin Stevens and Mike Ybarra bowled strike for strike through the first nine frames. Mike rolled two more strikes, then a 6 count, for a nice 296. His high game is a 299 last year. He had a nice 740 +/- series. Kollin had a solid shot in the 10th, but left 1 pin. He picked up the spare, and ended up with a 277.
Kollin is sure growing up handsome! I remember when he was just a little thing.

On the evening of 12-13-02, the residents of the duplex at 1201 Selby threw a beer party, called "Christmas in the Ghetto". They had three beer kegs and approximately 80 - 100 people. The police were called twice to break it up. The second time the police were sent was about 0100 hours (the 14th). Two Suspects came out of the party and were urinating in a neighbor's yard when they were confronted by the neighbor (Victim), who was then assaulted by them. The victim sustained numerous facial injuries, requiring reconstructive surgery.
I dunno.
Just a coupla punks I saw while at the St Paul Police web-site.
Thought I'd post it here in case anyone recognized them.
It's Mr. News! And look, he's got himself a Joe!
man, i hate to say it but the dude on the left kinda looks like kids. with hair. and no hands. :)
I was gonna say-you musta been there to take that picture but you may be off the hook by claiming to have gotten it off of a website ;)
That is near your house isnt it THX?
is that near FERNS as well?
I'm finally back! Damn viruses!!
Hey did anyone happen to tape last nights KARE11 news? I saw the tail end of the weather segment on the replay and seen what seems to be one of the fall pix I sent to them. I matched it up with the little taping that I could do. The forecast was written over it by then though. It did look like a match. Did anyone happen to see it or tape it last night?
By the way, I'm an uncle again for my wife's side of the family now. 1st kid! Baby girl born at 10:10pm.
That is near your house isnt it THX? is that near FERNS as well?
It's further west, on the other side of Lexington. Not too far though.
what the hell?
IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After all the wedding happiness, and now another Halloween birthday happiness- I suppose I'll be diagnosed with terminal cancer next week.
HEY!!! How come my birthday lands on Halloween every year?
Well_! If there are no more messages, then I figgure I gots meeself a JOE!
(terminal cancer fer sure!)
Hey Clue Master. I'm in the market for a new camera and need some advice. I'm debating between the Canon EOS Rebel Ti or the Canon EOS Elan 7E. Daughter has a discount at Best Buy and I can get a good price on the Rebel there but they don't carry the Elan in the stores, just on-line. But there are several Elan's on Ebay, one a new, factory sealed, for $310. What do you think?
Happy Birthday KT!
Happy Birthday to you, KT!! Hope it's a bewitching sort of day!
Oh my! a red wish!
..And also one from me2!
It was in green! much like a similar m&m I was told to NEVER eat. ...or else certain things would happen... Whoops! I gotta go to bed NOW!
Many happy Aurora viewing to all who have no clouds.
(Hello Terry V.)
O- I love the diove ter. don't change it for awhile...
 Happy new unclehood cluemaster
How come my birthday lands on Halloween every year?
Prolly the same reason mine lands on St. Patricks Day every year? I just don't get it. Weird.
  Happy B-day KT!! U Friggin Punkin-head U ;-)
Happy new unclehood cluemaster
Thanks KT. I'm not new to unclehood, but it sure is exciting for my wife's side of the family. We have tons of kids on my side but this is the first on her side. It's hilarious when the two fams get together. It's like seeing the Ringling Bros meet some Jeopardy contestants. They just sit back quietly and try to analyze what the hell is going on. I can't wait for the first time we all get together again. I'm sure it will be even more overwhelming than when us 'paparazzi' showed up at the hospital.
Hey OT - I would jump on that Rebel if it's a digital. But I don't think it is since those are way more expensive than $310. I guess I wouldn't invest more than $100 in a 35mm camera now in the days of digital. And as far as digital is concerned. Olympus seems to be the best that I can see. Pros are: super wide angle lens and options that rival any SLR. Cons are: Slow start time (big lenses take long to pop out) and still no shutter release for super long exposures. I don't think any digital cams have that option yet. It seems a bit complicated at this point.
Happy B-Day KT!
Happy Halloween and again, KT, Happy Birthday!
Speaking of aurora borealis and clear skies....
Anyone just about anywhere in the US that there were clear skies the past two nights saw an amazing display. Sightings came in from as far south as Texas and Arizona! Many saw the northern lights for the first time. From all reports and the first few pictures I've seen, there were clear red, blue, purple and pink bands along with the more common green all visible with the naked eye - and often in light polluted areas.
I am so bummed we were so cloud covered here.
I am even more so TerryV. I think we're about due for paybacks when it comes to Auroras. Seems like every major geomagnetic storm in the past 6 months has shown people in the southern states some spectacular displays of the northern lights, and for all of those, we've been clouded over.
Closest I got to seeing anything last might was on my way home from work, close by Battle Creek on 94 looking east I saw the coulds were being illuminated very bright, and I don't believe it was city lights, there was a tinge of green coloring to it, and it was far too large for what you'd normally see for city light.
Worry not though, I'm sure our day will come, when it does, I hope to have the camera operating perfectly, and a whole evening off to just look, and laugh because the southern states are too far away or clouded over :)
K - You're right. We have been cloud covered for almost all of the displays in the past 6 months - and though activity has been a bit sporadic, you'd think in 6 months time there would be more visible here. After all, half the summer we were in drought conditions.
We did see a beautiful display earlier this year - June maybe? - up north on a Friday night. We had been sitting around a campfire and checking the skies off and on - and suddenly there was a great display seen far beyond the zenith. Rippling waves and huge curtains. Thankfully we were very near a cow pasture and could stand out in the middle of that and see from one horizon to the other. The strongest activity lasted about 90 minutes. Great show! But I'd love to see another red aurora.
I guess you're right, our day will come again.
Do you have any of the STD software?
STD software? I'm sorry, not really sure what you're referring to.
I did get a pic of mars when it was close by, taken through my telescope via digital camera. It's a bit fuzzy, but you can barely make out some features, also at the top is the polar ice cap, kinda the whiteish blob.

STD software is available here.
Just check out the "popular software" listed on the left. That will take you to the "space weather software". You can purchase that software, but there's an aurora monitor available as a free download. The SWIM software is more advanced and extensive, but if you have an interest, check it out. It's a great way to learn about space, it's weather and it's phenomenons.
Saint Paul Traveling League visited Sun Ray Lanes today. It was a great stop for Kollin, as he scored a new career High Series:
245-247-256 - 748
He's getting a bit tired of having his picture taken ... or just having fun.
I take the kids bowling there sometimes :)
Cool site TV. My favorite pix is this one by Michel Tourney
Congratulations to Kollin!
Clue Master - I like that one too. Reminds me of the light show we saw earlier this summer.
For anyone interested, there is a new watch out for possible northern lights this coming week. There has been two more major X-class solar flares that should produce aurora activity beginning as early as tomorrow evening.
Could someone do something about these clouds?!?!?!?!?!?
Cool, I bowl at SunRay sometimes.
Wow Terry, the sun sure is active lately. We had a break in the clouds last night, but go figure, no activity.
I will keep my eyes out though, in the desperate hope that I might get a chance to see some. Hopefully with my camera at the ready.
..anybody wanna spank me?
Nope.
Happy birthday, though.
..anybody wanna spank me?
Hmmmm, asking in two different threads...Well I might be able to find someone who does, hehe.
