yup-found it...

The city of St Paul is located just south of 45 degrees north latitude (the suburb of Roseville has a marker near an obscure intersection identifying the exact location of the 45th parallel).

45 degrees is one half of a right angle. A hill could be 45 degrees.

The 45th parallel also runs through Phalen, just north of the lake. But, I don't think that's what he's getting at.

no-I dont either-but thanks for mentioning that it runs through that part of Phalen-good to know

So one needs to ascend a hill and it'll be there at the top. Or maybe you ascend 1/4 of the way up a hill.

Now if we could figure out which hill, we could go out and pick it up! ;-)

There are '7 hills' in St Paul yah know :)

Hills that are in parks that ascend at a 45 degree angle could be the one along Montreal in Highland, the one going up into the playground area at Mounds, there's a few of 'em at Battle Creek, there are the hills around McMurray field, and probably a few hundred more in parks in the city.

Fairly consistent 45 degrees would not be the temperature anywhere in Minnesota!

We have the police scanner on here. There is some woman that had a purse stolen. She had $4000 in cash inside that purse! IDIOT!!!!!!

45 degrees, for mathematical purposes, is one of the most used degree amounts (especially in trig). I think he's either referring to that or something that has nothing to do with degree amounts.

where did me2 go?

Me2 has probably gotten distracted by something or someone at home.

I think ares is busy with other things lately.

Strange

Reg - Someday you too will be working for a living. In order to stay employed, one has to put out some product once in awhile. Otherwise you won't be working.

wasnt 'doth dwell' used in another hunt?

Mon, 11/03/2003 - 8:45 PM Permalink
Terry

Funny you should mention that! I had been thinking the same thing...like there's something familiar about that.

Me2 has probably gotten distracted by something or someone at home.

actually I usually get distracted looking something up on a clue which brings me to somewhere else online which brings me to another website then I find my way back.

terry, I usually listen to my scanner at work, I hear alot of interesting things on there, yesterday hubby calls me and asks if I have my scanner on cuz there's cops everywhere surrounding a house with their guns drawn and they won't let him through to go home! I had shut it off like 15min earlier cuz I was on the phone. turns out they are looking for one of the mung boy's that live kitty-corner from us, andy play's with the youngest boy in that house (scary!) when they yelled for everyone to come out of the house, 13 of them came out! I guess they arrested at least one kid, I heard later that the kid is a member of a gang called "Masters of Destruction" I don't think Andy will be playing with the younger one anymore, not outside of school anyway :(

Me2 do you know if you can see the Civil war Monument that is near the Cathedral from Cherokee?

I personally think its too far to see something that will look small from that distance and use it in a clue unless it is something small IN the park itself. I have never looked for it from Cherokee. Cherokee is my favorite for any clue that mentions trees because there are so many there-

wow-well I hope they got them out of your neighborhood- even if its for a day in jail

or at Cherokee the Pyramid domes ontop of the bathrooms- (gotta get a toilet clue in a hunt somehow) ;p

Sunray used to have pyramid looking tops but dont recall if they have remodeled since 99

was Aaron BURR a yankee?

the obvious 'Babe Ruth' was used before to find Conway so I dont like it!

I like the clue as a whole pointing to a northern park

the north side of a park

OR that Peace Park at the north end of the highbridge I found is named North High Bridge Park - it has a 'peace pole' for making people 'civil' and is either near the smokestack or brewery (both could be 'scent') or there is supposed to be a lot of daylillies in the summer that are smelly. You can use the binoculars at the top of the bridge with a quarter to 'aim' twords the 'gallery' = 'sculpture garden??

pick a side? of what - a bridge maybe?

too funny - I was looking up some park information and there was this website that 'tags' parks as "regional" and "preserve" then "neighborhood" and "traffic islands" and "community" and "recreation centers" then "sports complex" ...then I get to mine---Alice ---hahaha -it catorgized as a "mini"

I was thinking about the temperature inside ice arenas, but its not 45 degrees I dont think, I looked it up and one site said 57, and that seems about right.

Clue #4

The quirky Aquarius you’ll find all around us.
While the bullish Taurus is always underfoot.
The wandering Sagittarius is encircled thus,
And the stinging Scorpio is nearby at the root.

And the previous clues:

Clue #3

It's true that fall has now fell, so the weather does tell,
And you'll see it confirmed by the many bare trees.
But if you want to excel and find where the coin doth dwell
Look for something at a fairly consistent forty-five degrees.

Clue #2

There's no need to drivel, Americans should be civil,
Even if they've been known in the past to get cranky.
Look up, don't shrivel. Pick one side, don't swivel.
And between the two, it's best to align with the Yankee.

Clue #1

Well since the hunters all came, let's begin one more game,
You should stick to St. Paul's parks to make this hunt shorter.
And if it should be your aim to be in the gallery of fame,
You need to locate the region using a scent and a quarter.
