Where are the Slacker fans that were posting here at the start of the season? To busy chewing on their foam rubber cheese hats?

Krause, one of six Vikings in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, no longer considers himself part of the Vikings' family and plans to stay away from the franchise because the team has not retired his jersey number. He does not attend team functions or reunions.

I agree with Krause! His number should have been retired by now.

Count me in mv! A NY native friend of mine usually takes me to the Giants game each year. They're always a pretty good match up. He hasn't called this year though :-(

from me2:

The NFL announced today
that for financial reasons,
they had to eliminate
one team from the league.
So they've decided to
combine the Green Bay Packers
and the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
and form one team, therefore saving jobs.
They will be known as the TAM PACKS.
Unfortunately, they're only good
for one period and have no second string.

I saw in todays paper a look at what former Viking teams have gone on to do after starting 6-0.

Year Coach Firstloss Record How far
1973 Bud Grant 10th game 12-2 Lost Super Bowl VIII
1975 Bud Grant 11th game 12-2 Lost in divisional playoffs
1998 Dennis Green 8th game 15-1 Lost in NFC championship game
2000 Dennis Green 8th game 11-5 Lost in NFC championship game

The difference this year, compared to 98 and 2000, is Tice will not play it safe. He seems to gamble at the right times. While Denny took a knee in 98, I see Tice going for it. Where I see Tice going for it on fourth down, I see Denny punting. This is one of the reasons I like Tice a lot more then Denny. If we make the playoffs or even the Super Bowl, please no choke job this year.

I like the direction and the way this team is playing, but I temper that with their past results. Helps keep me down to earth. I hope Tice is showing the guys stuff like this and saying you can never let up and it is never a given. You have to work, sweat and earn everything.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for posting those stats Wolvie. One huge difference I see between the 98 Vikes and this years Vikes is that they have tons to learn this year yet. Way to many penalties. That's actually a good thing though. If we were already in top-notch condition, like in 98, there's no growing and only falling. Tice has the nuts to pull this off. If anything, it makes you believe so. A lot better than getting there with Green again.
Only 1 yard kept us from being the only 6-0 team too! Damn!

Actually I think it could be good that KC is still undefeated. I believe it will take some of the pressure off on the Vikings. If MN was the only undefeated team, then the media spotlight would be solely on them. Now there is at least some on KC, some on MN. The Vikings aren't perfect. There's still more to be worked on. Our special teams can be better. Penalties need to be cut down on. Also keep in mind that the Vikings defensive scheme is new. As the season moves on, teams will get better and more looks at O'Leary's schemes. Some teams will find ways to exploit the Vikes defense. When that happens, we'll have to adapt. Come playoff time we'll have to execute better, play defense better, have better special teams play. It will all have to come together. I like the outlook though.

and prolly the most important... The team is not made up of those players from 98 who were out for personal stats rather than being team focused. I truly believe that with the corps of a new defensive team shows the ability to become a super bowl contender. This thought also applies to a few of the offensive team as well. Think about this for a minute :).. On the down side of this, I believe the NFL is ruled by Vegas Odds makers regardless how ANY team does. Case in point...Remember Gary Anderson perfect for the entire season in '98 than blows the one chance that could have put them in the superbowl? Ever since then I DO BELIEVE its not if u win or lose a game but rather how much money is placed on your team to win or lose. In closing, if your a betting type of person, bet AGAINST the odds. :)

Who cares the season has been a complete success already knowing the PAckers are a sub 500 team!! haha I hope the pack lose every game they play this season and then some :)

Remember Gary Anderson......

I think that Gary would give all the money in the world to get that kick over. I don't think any Vegas odds makers had anything to do with it. Team sports are just too hard to fix. Now take Boxing, NASCAR or any other single person sport, those can be fixed way easier.

I read this somewhere on the web about this sundays preview against the Midgets....Moss continues his amazing season this week against a seriously depleted Giants' secondary. This could get ugly in a hurry.

Factor in the revenge factor from that 41-0 blowout I got twenty bucks that says Randy gets at least 3 touchdowns this week. I say the score will be something like 56-17 :)

this is soooo funny!!! :)

Waite Park, Minn. (AP) A Waite Park couple's fight over what to watch on TV has landed both in jail.

Police say the 23-year-old man came home last night to his apartment, where his 19-year-old girlfriend was watching the Lifetime Channel.

The man turned the channel to Monday Night Football, and an argument began over which channel the couple would be watching. That escalated into a fight in which the woman allegedly went to the kitchen, grabbed a steak knife and went after her boyfriend.

Police say the boyfriend was stabbed in the arm, and his girlfriend was stabbed in the head.

Both are in jail----

and just think, I have 3 extra TVs they should have ask me for one

The loss is a good thing in a way. The pressure and media coverage is now off of them. Plus they get to take this loss out on the Slackers! 6-1 is still a great start. We own the division.

What is the deal with Red ripping the team after the loss? Humiliating defeat? 41-0 was that but not the game Sunday. Red lost a lot of my respect for that comment. The Vike players should be pissed with him. Friggin idiot. Just sell the team to someone Red. Paging Mr. Taylor.....

They are mad now and Randy always shines in the limelight. If the pack do win (which they wont) the division race is back on. If the Vikes do win (which they will) after a victory against the Lions the sunday after, the vikes will win the North Division. --but dont listen to me, look what i said about the Gaints game. GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Brett Favre has a broken thumb, and that could mean he's ready for a big game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Eight times during his career, the Green Bay Packers' apparently indestructible quarterback has been hurt so badly his availability for the following game was in question.

Eight times he played -- and played well. He's 6-2 in those games with 15 touchdown passes and six interceptions.

fortunately for the Vikes they are playing the Chargers, which is just about the worst team in the NFL. Atlanta may be just a tad worse. But the Chargers do have Tomlinson and he could do what Ahman did to the Vikes.

Maybe the Vikes can do this, too:

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- As if they didn't have enough problems, the Atlanta Falcons were scrambling to defend a halftime show featuring three rap groups.

....

Bonecrusher, a hefty, Atlanta-based artist, sang the hip-hop hit "Never Scared," in which he muses about shooting someone in the head.

According to profanity-laced lyrics obtained from an Internet Web site, the song goes, "Let a choppa go PLOOOOOOWWW! to yo melon. Now the plasma is oozin outta yo cerebellum."

idiot holds on to the ball to long waiting for something to happen. Give Gus another shot... Tice punts on the packers 46 WTF!!! 4 and 3 behind by 10. tell me the NFL isnt fixed. Another good indication is ..I wonder how many people took the Panthers over the Texans last week. THere must have been alot of money wagered on that game. Texans beat the Panters----hmmm that is the worst upset in at least 20 years in the NFL.

something I read....

The headline isn't wrong, it's just four months early. That's saying a lot for a franchise that hasn't ever won a Super Bowl; and hasn't even made the big game in 26 years. But trust me, folks. This is the year of the Vikings. --

I care I bleed purple besides I know the guys who take the bets :)
And as far as culpepper is concerned, yea hes ok but Gus is actually more exciting and doing just as good as Duante

I hate to say this but if the Raiders beat the Vikes on Sunday, I am going to become a Packer Fan. I cant take the heartbreak and disappointment anymore. I hear ya mv. But ya gotta admit that they do stir up quite a bit of emotions in their fans though. Huh? I exhibit more raw emotions during the 3 hours of a Vikes game than I do all week long. My kid is just glad that it's directed at the TV and not her. She sits and watches me because that way she knows when a loud 'SHIT!!!!' will accidently pop out. ;-)

Man I love bashing a team that I love. Your two posts above spell out each fans yearly rollarcoaster feelings.

I agree. They "should" beat Oakland, Detroit, Chicago and Arizona. They will lose to St. Louis, Seattle and Kansas City. I am hoping, HOPING, they go 10-6. Then the let down will begin, when they once again go one and done in the playoffs.

I been a fan for many many years. Way back when the Rams and the Vikes had a good rivalry going. THere AINT no F**CKING way I would become a PAcker fan EVER!!!! I'd kill myself first :) haha The pack loss, eased my human nature a great deal and gave me a sense of well being (at least until Sunday anyway) The only thing that sucks now is the Vikes prolly will have to do their playoff thingy on the road either at Rams or the "boys. No bag for me at Detroit, just my jersey and my Horns :) SKOL VIKES!!!!

Maybe 8-8 or 9-7. But I still don't think the Fudge Packers will take the division either way. But Jethro's been right so far so who knows?

The Vikes have to play Detroit, St. Louis, Seattle, Chicago, KC and Arizona. My guess is they will end up 9-7. But Chicago has been playing better and the game is in Chicago. So 8-8 is possible.

The Pack has San Fran, Detroit, Chicago, San Diego, Oakland and Denver. My guess is Pack 9-7 since they play Chicago at home. I did count the Denver game against them but they could quite likely beat them since they will be at home and end 10-6.

I hope that comes true even 8-8 (.500) would be OK. This would be an improvement from last year. But I am still pissed and I dont think I can get over it. If you would like to buy my tickets for the last 3 home games, Lions, Seahawks, Chief- I will be signed on Tuesday between 10pm and 1030pm and on Wednesday. Like I said, I am done with this time regardless. I have been a fan since Fran Tarkentons' rookie year. I just cant take it anymore. :(
