I am the very model of a modern Númenorean; My voice is clear and ringing and its volume is stentorian,. I'm Estel and I'm Aragorn, and Elessar and Strider, too I've hunted orcs and trolls and wargs, and sometimes a Black Rider, too. I'm pretty good at fighting and you'll find me where the dangers are; I'm fearless and invincible, as all the other Rangers are. My walking pace is what for lesser peoples would be scurrying - I never tell old Butterbur the reason for my hurrying..    He never tells old Butterbur the reason for his hurrying    He never tells old Butterbur the reason for his hurrying    He never tells old Butterbur the reason for his hurrying My sword is old and busted but I wield it with impunity And draw it out and flourish it at every opportunity.
From Anduin to Arnor and from Cardolan to Lorien, I am the very model of a modern Númenorean.  Â
I'm very good with herbs and stuff, my hands are deft and surgical; My power with things like athelas is almost thaumaturgical; I can summon back the Nazgûls' dying victims to reality, And track you down a Stoor with a divided personality; I got a gal in Rivendell who's centuries my senior, And rival even hobbits with my skill at Nicotinia. In all the wars of Gondor there is no-one who is gallanter -    And no-one else who has the strength to look into a Palantir    And no-one else who has the strength to look into a Palantir    And no-one else who has the strength to look into a Palantir    And no-one else who has the strength to look into a Palantir I can guide you from the northern ice to distant plains alluvial. And sing you all the songs about my ancestress Tinúviel:
From Anduin to Arnor and from Cardolan to Lorien, I am the very model of a modern Númenorean.  Â
In short, when Rhûn and Harad have been battered to docility, When Faramir has yielded up supreme responsibility, When all surviving orcs have switched to diets vegetarian, And when my son is reconciled to being called Eldarion: When Isengard has been secured so none get in or out of it And Gimli's lot have fixed the gates that Grond had knocked about a bit; When I have learnt from somebody the rudiments of government And a sapling of old Nimloth has consented to discoverment     And a sapling of old Nimloth has consented to discoverment     And a sapling of old Nimloth has consented to discoverment     And a sapling of old Nimloth has consented to discoverment. To be the King of Gondor is my duty and I'm bound to it, And one day it may happen when I finally get round to it,
From Anduin to Arnor and from Cardolan to Lorien, I'll be the very model of a monarch Númenorean.  Â
I hurl myself against the foe with courage and avidity, And maybe just a soupcon of inherited stupidity. So if you want a sherpa for a toddle through the Hithaeglir, Or need a human champion who's not a jerk, like Boromir, Check out the heir of Isildur with any good historian; He'll tell you I'm the model of a modern Numenorian.
It's just that I think more highly of Frosti. I don't think he would choose to waste (err, spend) the amount of time necessary to create it, let's say. :)
Moon should be fully covered in about 15 minutes. It looks awesome with my binoculars. But my digital camera doesn't have much zoom, so the pics won't be too impressive.
There is way too much light pollution, not to mention actual pollution, in this city to even be sure it's the moon you're seeing. Even on full moon nights. Very frustrating.
Very pretty. My wife is going to get one (as a reward for reaching her diet goals), and is thinking along the style of yours. More of a triskedelion (sp?) though. Me, I'm all for symmetry and have been lobbying for the sacrum as a location. :) We'll see.
If you've slogged through S&S you prolly already know this, but mine was a 30th birthday present to myself. My mother had a very difficult time when she turned thirty and I was old enough (10) to be affected by it.
I needed something to acknowledge that birthday in a body-positive way. This worked really well. I've yet to regret it, altho only two years have passed. And I wasn't terribly affected by turning 30 either. Now I have plenty of time to prepare for another when I turn 40. Hee.
I read the back annals (heh) of S&S late one night after a couple of beers, so my memory for the finer points are a bit blurry. :) But now that you mention it, I believe I do remember that.
Yeah, the big four oh is sneaking up quicker every year it seems.

I scored a 78.5, even after factoring in the -30 age equalizer. This also factors in that I misspelled two of the answers. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am a dork.

WHY BEER DRINKERS ARE MORE FUN THAN WINE DRINKERS Beer drinkers, in general, are more extroverted than wine drinkers, according to a new study in Canada, and that could explain conflicting evidence about the health benefits of certain types of alcohol, such as beer versus red wine. The scientists at the University of Manitoba's Alcohol and Tobacco Research Unit in Winnipeg found relatively distinct psychological traits when they surveyed hundreds of beer, wine and liquor aficionados. The results were published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol. Beer drinkers tended to be more extroverted and ego-driven, the wine drinkers less so, and spirits drinkers fell somewhere in between the two. While it is clear that alcohol in general can aid cardiovascular health, the apparent advantages of one type of drink may have as much to do with the psyche of the people who consume it as the properties of the beverage itself, according to the report.
QUOTE OF THE MONTH "This is a beer that demands respect and is quite simply a testament to the brewer's art. It is as far from 'session drinking' as can be imagined." - Safeway beer expert Glenn Payne, commenting on the arrival of Dogfish Head Brewery's WorldWide Stout in England.
Red Dragon was more spooky than Silence, fer shure.
I love Spenser and Judas Goat is a good one. I like Early Autumn the best, tho. I don't think I've seen the Spensarium, Sparky.
Shit, the hobbitt-sniffers are taking over here, too.
Would you rather discuss Dubus or Percy, Steve?
Hee.

Please god, tell me you didn't just make that up.
<chuckling appreciatively> I'm, ah, fairly certain that was not the work of yonder Frosti. :)
I could have made that up. I didn't. But I could have!
Oh Sparky of little faith.
I've been wronged! Oh, the humanity!
It's just that I think more highly of Frosti. I don't think he would choose to waste (err, spend) the amount of time necessary to create it, let's say. :)
You're right. I would have gotten bored after the first stanza. As I did while reading it.
Man, you would think we knew each other well or something. :)
I, on the other hand, read through, smiled occasionally, and tsked at all the errors. ;>
It's Party School! Now where is that darn registrar's office again?
Nice resource.

Hmm, I think I'm starting to understand.
I think the quiz is slanted toward mean people.
BTW, I hear you talked to Mrs. Frosti?
I did, she's very nice. As I'm sure you're well aware.

Hee! Hiya Sparky.
Hey amie.
Did you catch the eclipse down south t'other night?
Not clearly.
There is way too much light pollution, not to mention actual pollution, in this city to even be sure it's the moon you're seeing. Even on full moon nights. Very frustrating.
Sorry to hear that. It 'twas beautiful, to be sure - if a bit chilly to be out for hours watching. :)
Is you gif a new 'tat?
It's not new, but it is my tat.
Very pretty. My wife is going to get one (as a reward for reaching her diet goals), and is thinking along the style of yours. More of a triskedelion (sp?) though. Me, I'm all for symmetry and have been lobbying for the sacrum as a location. :) We'll see.

Heh heh, he said annals...
I needed something to acknowledge that birthday in a body-positive way.
I think I could arrange something for your next birthday...
Oh goodie. It's August 22nd. Do make a note.
It's already noted. What kind of stalker wouldn't have that on his calendar?
Shoulda known.
<wonders when Chris' birthday is...>
<Jedi mind trick>There is no Chris.
</Jedi mind trick>
These are no the droids you're looking for...
C'mon now, you know it wouldn't be prudent for us to stalk each other.

Point taken.
And for your information, I like wine too. I'm nearly done with bottle two, thankyouverymuch.

I'll take it again in the am.
How's your score now, hangover girl?
Don't forget to subtract 15 points for the answers I gave you...
Ha, it'd prolly be worse right now.
Hungover, are we? That Night Train is a mean wine. :)
I don't know exactly how geeky this makes me - 89. I missed some obvious ones and his picky spelling/word tense missed three more. :)
Insanely geeky.
