Thanks. I didn't find it. I just got caught on the Yankee South thing. I spaced it out. I meant North, really. I used my Olympus dig through my binoculars. Back to the moon. Later.
Ok, somehow we missed you ESD! we wen't down to the north entrance a couple times and the only one we ran into was a guy throwing a stick for his dog and the park ranger :( Oh, and FYI everyone, gates do not lock untill 10:00pm. To dark and scarry to search alone so we left.
The ranger did tell us not to go near the fire pits alone cuz they have been having problems with teens trying to overtake some of the park rangers at night, Not gonna go there alone!
I shot a few pix through my telescope too but it was too close. I had the same problem when Hale-Bopp was in the sky. Binocs seem to work best. I have some kick-ass infinite depth-of-field ones where you don't need to focus. I've had them since they fist came out years ago and they rock for stuff like this since you don't need to calibrate both focus features. I'll post more later.
It must give Whitey Ford special satisfaction to know he has a place alongside Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig as the only "no-brainer" selections for the All-Time Yankee Team. For a variety of reasons, there's always been a perception of Ford as being just a notch below his contemporary Yankee deities - Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Phil Rizzuto. He had to wait a year before being elected to the Hall of Fame with his pal and late-night running mate Mantle (who made it in his first year of eligibility). And through the years, Berra has dwarfed him in commercial endorsements while Rizzuto earned Yankee icon status through his four decades as the team's principal broadcast voice.
But make no mistake: In terms of sheer greatness at his position, Ford stands alone in Yankee annals. Berra vs. Bill Dickey, meanwhile, has always evoked debate among Yankee historians and Mantle didn't even make first-team status in the Daily News panel voting.
funny Terry- your the second person that missed the 'overlook' posting the other night- it was posted with the differences between HF and Sewde Hollow- they both have overlooks and then discussed again with the steps that lead down near the overlooks
funny- someone 'overlooked' the 'overlook' hahahahaha
LL & TV-good findings on Whitey Ford and FDR -those would have gotten us to the park with other clues together but I don't think by themselves
did the WILD win last night- I missed that BUT I saw the eclipse thanks to Terry and everyone talking about it here- nice clear night! very cool! KIDS had to work all day yesterday til like 11 at night so unfortunately when I talked to him on the phone he was missing it! :( Just had to gossip about the KID hehehe :)
well, we didn't find it yet, I suppose CM will now, I decided to leave and half way home thought of a good spot to check, figures! Oh well, maybe if no one finds it I'll head out after tonights clue :)
she's a pretty good dog, but not good with people she doesn't know, that'a why I like to take her places like that when I go :) anyone messes with me, they have to go through her first ;)
zone 1 of hidden falls is just to big to go out at night, at least for me. good luck to everyone thats out there right now.
Last night's clue mentioned the overlook - but no one picked up on that.
Yankee - You caught me. ;-) Here's a current pix of the eclipse.
Very nice photo. Where did you take that?
and what do you mean?
"Yankee - You caught me. ;-)"
Did you find it?

You shot through you binocs? That crossed my mind, but I figured it would never work.
heading outside...

not hunting clue master?
I would but I love the terrestrial stuff
It was really cool down by the river, we got a pretty good look at it down there :)
Gonna go watch the wild game, BBL.
Glad you got back safe and sound. There's no way I'd be in that park alone at night.
The moon is so bright here again, with the snow cover, it's really light out.
Hi!
Does hidden falls have those scope things to look through at the scenic overlooks? and do they cost anything? like a quarter?
Look what I found!

Whitey FORD played for the YANKEES :)
we checked both parking lots and the overlooks, I don't know how we ended up missing you :(
Well, we are heading out, want to make sure we are back for the vikes!
{--------------ripped off from "da pro"
We'll prolly head out before noon. I have a good idea where to look but things always change once you're actually there.

They lost 4-3 :(
But they were down 4-0 early and showed a lot of heart in coming back.
CM, I was able to take some photos of the eclipse through the binocs, but they still aren't as nice as yours. Once again, you da man.

Love your dog LL! We used to have one just like it. Springer mix?
What was your dogs name, OT?
Hello!
We got back into the cities early enough to go out to the park for a bit. We didn't find *the* treasure, but Inks found a really nice pin.
Had to give it up though so he could get some lunch before he has to go to work.
I was sure we'd see some hunters down there but we didn't. I thought for sure it had been found.
Our dogs name was Pepper. Had her when my kids were little. She lived for 17 years!
Seeing as their is no prize for finding the medallion, I think Inks came out ahead!
Well at least we didn't come out behind - and we did get a nice walk through the park.
Too late to edit my post, isn't it. I misused the word their. I hate that!
I just blame my fingers for that sort of thing, OT. My mind misfired somewhere while the thought was going to my fingers.
OT, she's a britney, lab mix, she had so much fun out there today, no one was around so we just let her run, she's pretty pooped now though :)
OK. I'll use that excuse. Thanks Terry!
Such a good looking dog LL. I'd get myself another dog if I could be assured I'd end up with another one as fine as Pepper.
