That's perfect considering I'm taking a trip for a week out to Seattle by train (my sis lives there, so I get a place to stay for free). Here's hoping I see some of those northern lights from the train :)
BTW, I'm off tomorrow evening, so see all you guys in a week.
Finally getting my windows in today! I'm sooooo excited!we have been in this house since 1996 and most of the windows are 1922 originals! I can't wait to actually be able to lock my windows tonight!
hey LL sometimes those older windows though give your home character.
KC0GRN-wonderful! you have a great time- I would love to go to the west coast via train- we are considering going by train when we go to Yellowstone and just renting a car inbetween the trip.
Hey Eags. We were over in the 2003 Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt thread, but that thread will be calming down now that his hunt is over. I assume that this thread here will be used as the main one once again.
What I know about poinsettias is that they can make your cat very sick if he eats them! My cat almost went into cardiac arrest last year after eating a leaf. So no more poinsettias for OT :(
I did one once for three days to get to Orlando. Not fun.
Our neighbors always wanted to do a train trip. They did one this fall out west and then into California. They won't be doing another one. They went first class with a sleeper, but didn't really enjoy it the way they thought they would.
That's good information Terry. I had considered taking the American Orient Express from California to Washington state. It is a luxury train fitted out just for tours. But maybe it's not the way to go.
We replaced the windows on the main floor of our house. They were Old. Our house was built in 1911, and the windows could have been originals. But we left the original woodwork around the frames, and it doesn't take away from the character at all IMHO.
My house was built in 1916, or if you want to believe the county, 1906. Still has its original windows. Kind of drafty in here! But you're right. They have lots of character!
We have a house Built in 1920's and we got Pella windows with wood on the inside so we could stain them to match the wood work in a specific room and they look grate and the wind does not blow through them any more.
Hiyall! Just slogging through this neighborhood again....
btw -- really fun hunt you did Allison! Didn't get out to look, but had lots of fun noodling from my desk!
I used to take the train quite often between here and San Diego -- and I *loved* it! But I was much younger, and didn't have a family to tote along. We have been kind of considering doing one as a family, but I don't think I would take one that took much more than a day.....too much to worry about what the kids could be doing while you catch a few winks. A sleeper car sounds like fun, but then I think you'd miss out on a lot of the stuff that makes a train ride what it is.....
Reading about all the new windows reminds me how much I would like that!
Our house was built in 1906, and I'm sure what we have is original. Yeah, they have some character, and a lot of leaks and drafts...there's a couple that are hard to open - mostly I just would like to have them not leak so much.
well, I took the pictures with my digital camera but my memory card is screwed up so I used the camera without the card and now I can't figure out how to download the pics from the camera :(
And yeah, how can you store pix without a card anyway? Is there a camera out there that does both 35mm and digital? If not, I'm sure there will be soon for the novelty buyers.
Actually there is such a thing. Instead of remembering images perfectly, you remember sounds perfectly. I don't quite have that myself, but I do tend to remember things by how they sound more than by how they look.
Hey everyone. Here's a link to get a free VIN report for your car. It's only free for today and only one report per computer. It's fine to give a bunk e-mail address if you want since you don't need it to access the info anyway. Click the link named Free VIN Report at the bottom left of the page and it'll take you where you need to be. It's pretty a detailed report. FYI - Once you leave the page the info is gone and you can't get it back so you might want to print it. http://wcco.com/homepage/
thanks! I did IT too ;P no problems with the truck funny I am watching that 70's Show and this episode is about Fez working at the DMV -coincidence? hmmmmm
Well all, I'm back from my train trip. And despite all the ugly rumors on this thread, I actually enjoyed travelling by train. It's good as long as you figure your train trip as being part of your vacation, and you aren't in a hurry to get too or from your destination. To me anyways, half the fun is in the journey.
Anyways, so I'm back and back to my research.
if anyone cares, I'll have pics from my trip up on my site.
Nice pix KC0. I think I'd like traveling in a train even better than a ship. Some very beautiful scenery can only be seen from traveling by train. Thanks for sharing.
WHOOOOHOOOOOOOO! 1-0 WILD!
Whoohoo thanks for the update TerryV.

OT - Try some silk ones. If you find the right ones, they can be beautiful without all the fussing with them...and no sick kitties.
Eags - Let me know if you didn't find your way. I can email you the link.
And about train rides....
I did one once for three days to get to Orlando. Not fun.

Just wait till I post the before and after pics and you will see the character my house had!
We replaced the windows on the main floor of our house. They were Old. Our house was built in 1911, and the windows could have been originals. But we left the original woodwork around the frames, and it doesn't take away from the character at all IMHO.

We got replacement windows several years ago. I love them! They actually added some character. Warmth without all the drafts!!
We have a house Built in 1920's and we got Pella windows with wood on the inside so we could stain them to match the wood work in a specific room and they look grate and the wind does not blow through them any more.
thanks for the train information you guys!
Ha this is fun I am in school right now reading on the Forum. LOL
Well I am off to Design 2 see ya

As Homer would say, "I have a phonographic memory!".
I have a pornographic memory. :-)

It's time to get Homer-erotic!
my last digital camera had 8mb of compactflash built into it so i could take pics even if i didn't have a card.
Allison Wonderland 11/14/03 11:25am
Yeah, but people with phonographic memories are usually blind accordian players.
:-)
I have a secret thread nananana bo bo

Thats what mine is.
I had to design a cereal box in design 2 and this is what I turned in. I got an A+ not bad for an old hood rat LOL.
Great jorb ESD!
very nice ESD!
Thanks all it's hard to believe that a drop out like me is blowing the top off the grading curve.
Do you have a "prize" inside of that box? Hopefully something the Vikes could use it for a good luck charm
Ya like a new owner LOL
Shit! How about a new Quarterback!
How many teams out there have a QB with a rating of 109 sitting on the bench? I could go on but this is not a NFL thread :)
Doesn't Dante hold the record for most turnovers as a Quarterback? And if I heard it right, he managed that record in 3 yrs?
