yo gimper. how they hangin. i isa man. i aint no woman. youz needs to be specific on wacha wants to know. i aint gunna be givin all da answers out. youz just git your shuvle and ho out there and dig. its da only way youz gunna find it.
The zoom could also refer to kids on bikes, cuz I remember biking when I was younger at Mounds park and getting good speed on the bike pathes down the hills, but I spose kids could sled down the bike paths (if not shoveld) but it would be fairly close to Shepard Rd. The dome could also refer to one of many softball or golf domes in St. Paul, although I doubt it. I want to get out there and dig so bad but I'm too sick. Arrgh! Hope one of yous finds it if I dont get my butt out there.
Colleen Chaput What are your feelings on the clues? Highland park? Mounds Park? Other? Go out on a limb and give us your theory (you can change your mind later on). I'm thinking Mounds -- all the clues point there: Childs Road (kids go zoom). Dome anagram (Capitol dome is in view). The Radio Tower (large object)...Granted these clues could apply elsewhere -- but these just seem to fit so nice....But then again, last year I was sure it was in Newell until the "Cuomo" clue...
I'm kinda curious to hear where people are looking, whether it is the right place or not, it's just always fun to know which parks people are at, or they see other people at.
ck1 I think mounds is the place but i'm heading over there this afternoon to check out what you can see from there. Also in clue number 1 it says wintry fun is that a miss print shouldnt it be wintery not sure.
Just something to think about......(1st line 4th clue). He speaks of " a large object in view" and (second line 4th clue) "But first".....(last line 4th clue) "mother lode"...............could he be speaking of the first national bank?????????? probably not. Personal thought, Mounds Park see ya there!!!!!!!!!!!!
CARLA JUST.. The Arlington fields was a thought in my head as well. Playing my frost-bite games there, we got jazzed when they built the dome. But what is the large visable object form there???? The Capitol? Let me know. Thanks!!
Since the onset of Arlington ballfields, every year that is the place I keep saying he will hide it prior to the hunt...........Again i'm thinking it's not there.
Use the demo of the mode to crack their clue. How do you get mode from demo? Do that to lode and
you have Delo(s) road, near Cherokee Park. Just a thought.
Someone did mention prospect park, nice view, small park though. Although if you follow alex moy's demo=mode then lode=delo(s) road, that runs right through the corner of prospect park. Just keeping everything in mind. Wouldn't think they would already hide it in Cherokee again since 1992. Just a thought, what if every clue was supposed to match in more than one park in the same area until the very end, when it is revealed it is in a small park like prospect, who knows, i doubt it though. Keep hunting, keep updating, and if someone on the water cooler here wins, ya gotta mention the Cooler!
The Arlington ballfields are officially known as "Rice & Arlington Field;" it's not a "Park." Prospect Park is in Minneapolis! That's a no-go.foolsbee: Mounds overlooks downtown and is on a bluff over the Mississippi; follow 94 or take E. 3rd St. from downtown to Mounds Blvd. But really, you can't do this hunt without a good map. Ask any longtime digger.
just got back from mounds park, lots of maybe places to look. i always wonder when they hide it. there wasn't much snow until a few weeks ago. a few people looking by the cliffs, why would they put it some where dangerous, someone else showed me some dried roses they picked, i don't think they want us digging by rosebushes. i cann't wait for clue 5. see you all out there.
Ohhh, "Prospect Terrace Park" ... not the one with the Witch Hat. This is an interesting idea. It's small, but so was Marydale, Newell, and Langford! Whatever contingent is out there, please keep the Water Cooler informed!
Yeah still lean towards Mounds, unfortunately don't know it all to well. Prospect with an outside shot, I remember going there the year it was at Cherokee for about an hour, pretty small. Has anyone here actually bought or seen this book that was written with maps and key items and areas listed for every park? What do ya think of it?
Again, I'm off a couple of blocks! I finally see the little corner of "Prospect Park" that Dave and Snowball2 are speaking of. How are the sightlines there? Certainly is high ground but can't imagine kids zooming there. "Prospect Terrace Park" has the climbable tower for nice views of the city, but that seems too dangerous an area for the inevitable swell of diggers.
DIGGERS- the Wabasha mines, the look out tower, and kids go zooming on thier bikes down Ohio, Wabasha, Concord hills!! Maybe I am reaching?? Let me know what you think??
I dont actually have it, I was looking for more info about it myself. Someone posted a day or two ago that you could get it from the hungry mind bookstore at grand and snelling. hey there mr. sax.
yes i have the book, my husband got it for me for Christmas. its at hungry mind for $8. its a pretty good book it has all{most, not all the small ones but i'm not sure we need them}the parks in St Paul.Ramsey county parks can be found in the 1994 guide Parks and Public Places in Ramsey County.
Indian Mounds Park is an ancient burial grounds for Dakota Chiefs. Rosebud is a Sioux tribe. There's no use hunting in any other park, the clues have been very specific.
RC .. I don't remember people sliding in the park proper, but I know people who would slide on poorly plowed, low-traffic streets in that area.
CK1 .. Good pull on the KIDS as Goats, definately a clue to Daytons Bluff?
Allen Jaques .. Prospect overlooks The Mighty Miss, and it faces west twords downtown, Maybe you could see the Cathederal, I'm not possitive, but by geom. standards it's possible
The dictionary describes "zoom" as a low-pitched buzzing or humming sound. Does the radio tower at Mounds park make a sound like that? It also says to climb suddenly and sharply in an airplane - Mounds park is right by the St. Paul airport!
The large object in view is the Capitol.
"Mother Lode" anagrams:
do other elm
oh to red elm
horde to elm
Hey, it's just an idea.....
yo gimper. how they hangin. i isa man. i aint no woman. youz needs to be specific on wacha wants to know. i aint gunna be givin all da answers out. youz just git your shuvle and ho out there and dig. its da only way youz gunna find it.
this is suppose to be a spot to discuss clues not a chat room
The zoom could also refer to kids on bikes, cuz I remember biking when I was younger at Mounds park and getting good speed on the bike pathes down the hills, but I spose kids could sled down the bike paths (if not shoveld) but it would be fairly close to Shepard Rd. think all of the rose clues point to roseville, kids zoom at the oval, across from central park, and there is a big rosebud
I'm kinda curious to hear where people are looking, whether it is the right place or not, it's just always fun to know which parks people are at, or they see other people at.
It's not in Roseville. The first clue specifically states "in a St. Paul Park." Do you think they would lie???
roseville ain't st paul. ya know
ck1 I think mounds is the place but i'm heading over there this afternoon to check out what you can see from there. Also in clue number 1 it says wintry fun is that a miss print shouldnt it be wintery not sure.

Anybody know any backround on the arlington softball fields on rice
street with the softball dome built on it? I know there is a police
station across the street. Any other notables in the area?
DVanhorn: just got back from Mounds...a fair amount of activity there with 10 or so other diggers. All the usually stuff has been dug around.
MrKnow: Tantalizing views of First Bank lining up with the Cathedral Dome. I had the same thought.
CK1: Nice anagram work. I wouldn't know an elm if it fell on me.
Final note: Someone is going to step on this thing in snow like this, and its starting to melt. maybe it isn't buried.
CARLA JUST.. The Arlington fields was a thought in my head as well. Playing my frost-bite games there, we got jazzed when they built the dome. But what is the large visable object form there???? The Capitol? Let me know. Thanks!!
Clara Just: Arlington softball fields are adjacent to railroad tracks, there's a big hill where kids like to slide, you can see
the post office, a car wash and Coffee Cup restaurant, I think. And
there's a Chinese restaurant near there too. It's between Rice Street and the tracks, and Arlington and Montana to the north & south.
I don't think it's beaver lake - that's not in St. Paul.
Mode=Dome
Demo=Dome
2 domes visable from Mounds Park, The Capital and the Cathedral.
Also, good thought on the "No Bury" clause. Get out there and just look (no digging needed).
RC>>> Thanks for the TIN CUP as a visible sign!!!!
FLIPNAT:
hey has anyone thought of prospect park what can you see from there.
also rose ave runs into beaver lake park. how about a new park
this year.
see ya at prospect...... beaver lake????
can someone tell me where mounds park is located?
Since the onset of Arlington ballfields, every year that is the place I keep saying he will hide it prior to the hunt...........Again i'm thinking it's not there.

no, TIN CUPS isn't visible from Arlington Fields - it's COFFEE CUP.
Can someone tell me where Prospect Park is?
think it is at cherokee heights park or prospect terrace park.
the dictionary describes the work "lode" as a vein of mineral ore - do you think "Prospect" would fit in here?
The Arlington ballfields are officially known as "Rice & Arlington Field;" it's not a "Park." Prospect Park is in Minneapolis! That's a no-go. foolsbee: Mounds overlooks downtown and is on a bluff over the Mississippi; follow 94 or take E. 3rd St. from downtown to Mounds Blvd. But really, you can't do this hunt without a good map. RC Prospect Park is near Ohio Hill on the West Side. Prospect Blvd.
Foolsbee Mounds park is near Daytons Bluff. Between Mounds Blvd. and Warner Road. Parallel to the river, across from St. Paul Airport.

P.S. To Dave VanHorn's Note...Where did you get the book??
Rosebud is an American Indian tribe - Rosebud Sioux.
Greg Sax THANKS for the kick in the head!!!!
DIGGERS- the Wabasha mines, the look out tower, and kids go zooming on thier bikes down Ohio, Wabasha, Concord hills!! Maybe I am reaching?? Let me know what you think??
I dont actually have it, I was looking for more info about it myself. Someone posted a day or two ago that you could get it from the hungry mind bookstore at grand and snelling. hey there mr. sax.
Greg, sight lines to the capital (Dome) and the First Bank Building. Is there a ROSE street nearby???
snowball2: I think "rosebud" refers to the name of the sled - are there any sliding hills in prospect park?
What if the "Kids" in "Kids zoom" referred to goats? They climb mountains, hills, bluffs, ...
yes i have the book, my husband got it for me for Christmas. its at hungry mind for $8. its a pretty good book it has all{most, not all the small ones but i'm not sure we need them}the parks in St Paul.Ramsey county parks can be found in the 1994 guide Parks and Public Places in Ramsey County.

Is there any hills at all in Prospect Terrace Park?
Can you spot the art Deco on the Dome of the Cathedral?
Is Prospect Terrace Park off of Delo(s) Street?
Is there water nearby the park?
Obvious high ground.

Anybody in here like to start a chat room on AOL?
