Got the Ethiopian coffee beans. They're GREEN!!! :D God bless the lady working there - she xplained I gotta roast them myself. Had she not told me, well... Green beaned coffee just doesn't sound too good...
Also got some tea spice. Ittiz this mix of all kinds o'stuff - one of which is cardomon (cardamon?). Neat looking thighy/seed! Chewed one! WHEEEE-OOOOHHHH! Strong! But kind'a neat.
Never roasted my own beans beefore. This should bee fun.
Tooled past Layton/Lyton. The Med's not there. We also did a sit-by at Battle Creek. You know, there is SO MUCH area there... Woods and stuff... To *me* - if you want to hide something that you don't want to bee found easily - thass the place. Furshure!
And been thinking about The Drop... I figure ittiz gonna bee Wed nite - under cover o'darkness. I think we oughtta stake out Soucheray's house... Or Millett's! OR BOTH!!!!!! WADDYA GUYS SAY??????
Stalking will just get you into trouble....you'll also lose sleep, which will lead to poor health, which will lead to certain illness, which will lead to you missing the hunt....
Green. Those raw beans are the best! The longer you roast them, the stronger the coffee. Just put them in a heavy pan and stir often so they don't burn. Where did you get them? I usually have to go to Mpls for them.
Mappy Gooey, I said "staking" NOT "stalking." I'm not interested in Soucheray and/or Millett - well, Millett... And I guess Soucheray, he's neat, too - I'm interested The Med!!! And just think!! To bee the first EVER to find The Med beefore The Hunt!!! COOLER!!!
OT: Addis Market, 1569 Sherburne Ave. Ittiz like 1/2 block east o'Snelling. Go north on Snelling about 1-2 blocks from University. Turn right on Sherburne - and ittiz just immediately on your left. Across the street from Fasika, the Ethiopian restaurant. Kind'a pricey... $3.25 for a small baggie... BUT! I think will be worth it if ittiz as good as what we had at the restaurant! :D
Let us know how it turns out! I've wanted to try roasting my own coffee for a while now. If you've got an old hot air popcorn popper you can use that to roast them as well.
You're right about that, Frosti. That's the best way to do it. I almost bought one at Target around Christmas time, but figured it was just one more thing to find room for in my kitchen, so I just stir them around in a heavy pan.
Well... Come to think o'it, I just saw a hot air corn popper laying around here somewhere. But I've always used a heavy cast iron skillet for roasting cumin - wouldn't that work?
BRB... Gonna go put on some beans. I wanna see how this turns out. You guys, the lady did say a light brown - not dark... But I always thought the darker, the better - is that incorrect?
JEEZ-LAWEEZ!!! I'm gonna forget 8 O'Clock beans from now on! What a delicate flavor! Very smooth - not a single bit of bitterness. Very 'coffee-y', but so delicate! Wow! This is FANTASTIC!!!!
Nah, Mappe Gooey. I was just xcited to try roasting coffee beans for the first time, grinding them, and having some Ethiopian coffe. Wanted to see what it was like.
Let me tell you, after one cup... I'M BUZZING!!!!
(great. just what this place needs - an even MORE whacked out green...)

WHEW! I'm xhausted! My poor old antique Universal coffee grinder damn near wasn't able to handle those beans!
Uuuummmmmmmm.... The grounds smelled SO GOOD! Got my first pot of FRESH roasted, FRESH ground Ethiopian coffee brewing...
Frosti/Old Timer - THANK YOU both for your suggestion and help in teaching me about this! I REALLY appreciate it! :D
