LOL! OTiS...Thats publishable! Hey lets just draw names outta a hat next year and party at the press next year. Leave the Blair Witch Sh*t to the idiots, after all anyone willing to plan AND participate in that deserves injury.....course that means the cluewriter as well.
I too, took off a friggin' week for The Hunt. And why? So I could sit on my ass for a week and then run pell-mell down a hill, into a dangerous area with a bunch of idiots? I think NOT!
This was not a treasure hunt. It was a friggin' money drop. No knowledge or metal effort was required. One just needed to wait for the starting gun - the 12th clue - and whomever found The Med first 'won'.
You people should be ashamed of yourselves. You have made a joke of 53 years of your presence in this city as well as your history and St. Paul's. You've made a joke of a worthy city-wide, FAMILY tradition - a CITY and Minnesotain tradition! You have belittled yourselves, your paper, the city, history, past Hunters/Finders, us and all who take pride in The St. Paul Pioneer Press Winter Carnival Treasure Hunt.
I need to know *now*. Do I take off one or two weeks next year for a real, bonifide, actual treasure hunt - where the clues actually have a purpose and need to be figured out? Or do I only need to take off two or three days so that I can sprint off when the final clue comes out, risk serious injury, and possibly find The Medallion with sheer luck?
It's "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me"...
Well I for one will not be fooled a third time, I'm done with this crap. I'll still follow the clues and hang out with everyone, but I am not gonna spend hours upon hours digging for this thing, not unless we get a new cluewriter.
Not shame on you, THX. You're a believer. I true believer.
We all believed. We're honest, good people, and believed The Clue Writer had integrity, too. It's shame on them.
I think this will be the last year of the 'starting gun' clue. Parents will be learning of these past two years and prohibiting their kids from hunting. Parents with younger childern will quit taking them hunting because there's no way little kids and parents would ever be able - or stupid enough - to walk into such a dangerous situation. As more people quit hunting due to the danger and the unfairness due to lack finding clues, more and more people are going to prattle, bark and sling barbs.
Actually, I think this pompous, "I'll fix you," 'prank' is going to backfire on MomPress. I really don't think we'll bee seeing Hunts again like we've had in the last two years.
Souch is now telling the truth - he's not the Clue Writer for 2005. He's been 'fired' from that job and rebuked. My thinking anyway.
You'd think he'd be a bit more creative on usernames: Butthead inmyway getthehellout medallionatorhoe follower nosenseofhumor scuttlebutt(or has that been taken?) wantmyownvansomeday tryintofindmyself_forgetthemed tagalong needafriend, or my personal favorite, LAME
And what are you going to do the other 50 weeks a year?
I'm not saying I'd have to be the cluewriter and nothing but all year. I'm a decent writer or I could do database stuff who who knows? I just need a job! hehe
Be careful what you ask for Allison.....perhaps its not a paying job
I'd do it for free if they let me do it. However that would never happen. How could they trust someone to run the hunt fairly who had nothing invested in doing so? At least the employees of the paper risk being fired if they leak clues.
Why did I use 6 vacation days, a personal holiday, and sick leave? All I needed was one day. Ridiculous !
I agree Ian, I took off 6 days for this BS.
I waste a ton of my vacation time too.

I know a front yard we can dig up...
I got a few stones for some windows.
I know where we can swipe a "Swift" Semi.
I motion to strip Joe of his title, based on the fact that he sucks.
Do I have a second to this motion?

One year's a joke, a prank, a fluke. Two year's are a trend.
"Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice - SHAME ON YOU!"
I think you've got that backwards, Greenie.
It's "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me"...

True, she does, but it does seem somehow more appropriate that way in this case.
Eye know I got it backwards. That's the way I wanted it. Allison noodled it correctly.
True, she does, but it does seem somehow more appropriate that way in this case.
Well, I think we were stupid to expect a decent hunt. That's why I say Shame on me.
It's like Joe said, "This isn't your Father's hunt".
I think we can expect a rioutous 12th clue every year from now on.
It's seems to be the lowest common denominator.
Very cute :)
Send it to Joe

the problem is, from what I have heard, cluewriter is not an enviable job down at ma press, so it's hard to fire someone that willingly does it.
I'm sure I wouldn't want the job, it's tough to make everyone happy.
I'd take the job, and since I need a job anyway, well now doesn't that work out?
Be careful what you ask for Allison.....perhaps its not a paying job (maybe thats why he's so vengeful and hides in dangerous places)
And what are you going to do the other 50 weeks a year?
:-)
Perhaps Allison could spend the other 50 weeks working out clues and hiding places for hunts long after all of us are gone.
Can you imagine - 100 years from now with 100 year old clues to parks that have changed.
Talk about mad craziness.

I think we should get a petition going to make AW the cluewriter and send it to the PP.
Besides, AW wouldn't screw things up enough to the standards of the last few years.
Joe does understand

Go JOE!
