A time when they’re green, a time when they’re brown, But both of these times, cause me to frown. But just in between, for a very short while, They’re perfect and yellow, and cause me to smile! What am I talking about here?
A man lives in his house. He also works out of his house and his job is very important. Everyday the man must sleep with the lights on to avert from tradgedy. One night the man gets so sick of the light he turns it out for the night. The next moring he reads the newspaper, takes out a gun, and shoots himself.
You walk up to a mountain that has two paths. One leads to the other side of the mountain, and the other will get you lost forever. On the road you meet two twins that know the path that leads to the other side. You can ask them only one question. One of the twins only tells lies and the other only tells the truth, and you don't know which is which.
#2 thinking it's lighthouse, unless it's a trap kinda thing...
#3 I was thinking you could keep subracting as long as you want, if negative numbers count, but I like CM's answer too..
#1 and #4 got mixed up, I've heard a ton of variations on the twins riddle, and hear the answer, swear I'll remember it, then I forget it the next time I hear another variation of it.
#4 - Is your twin telling the truth? I DON'T KNOW!!!
. . .
#4 version 2: A man comes to a fork in the road. There is a house between the two paths. One road leads to ultimate happiness the other to total sorrow. On the wall next to the door is a sign that says: Twins live here; one always tells the truth and the other always lies. The man knocks on the door. One of the twins answers. He only asks one question and then picks the path to ultimate happiness. What question did he ask?
<edit>Shit! I already said that. but I think I might have the explanation.
<edit> ::brain gearing up to generate some dust::........
<edit>Which one of you is a twin?
<edit>That would let you know who was going to tell you the truth but then you'd have to ask the 2nd question of what path they took.
<edit>This is something THX will get I'm sure. Or AW
#1 Banana. I only know this because I've seen it before. Not that I figured it out myself.
#2 A lighthouse?
#3 Five times (Seems to easy, there must be a catch).
#4 Basically you ask what the other one would say.
So you have Twin A, and Twin B.
Twin A is the liar, Twin B is the truth teller.
If you ask the Liar, "Would Twin B say this is the road out", and he says "Yes", you know it's "No", because he always lies. If he says "No", it actually means "Yes", because he always lies.
If you ask the Truth Teller, "Would Twin A say this is the road out", and he says "Yes", you know it's "No", because he always tells the truth, but he's telling the truth about what the liar would say....
Number 3 if you have only one number 25, you can only subtract 5 from it once. After that you'd be subtracting 5 from lesser numbers (20, 15, 10, 5)
Number 4 is a groaner. I know I've heard variations of this. I think it has to do with which path they were on. The deal would be you're meeting them as they are coming back so they weren't lost and so you would assume had been on the right path. I'll need to think about this one.
MMM, I would ask that you not post riddles in this thread since i'm using the title area to post my riddles and answers.... I will however post any riddles you that you want me to put out there.
THX, The answers and new set of Riddles will be posted late tonight around 11pm :) I know the timing sucks and you end up having to wait another day but just think... everyone will have something to look forward to in the morning.
I think I figured out the twins thing. The only question you could both of them is the one you already know the answer for...and that is if they are actually twins.
After that, you can ask the one twin that tells the truth the correct path to take.
That's a good one. I think you'd get the answer to which one is the liar and which one is telling the truth, but you still wouldn't know which path leads you out...
This has bugged me all day. I got that brain storm - maybe it was a tornado and so it's all blown to kingdom come and back - crossing over the Lafayetter Bridge this afternoon.
I'll sure be interested in seeing what the correct answer is.
#3 Only once. After the first calculation, you will be subtracting 5 from 20, then 5 from 15, and so on.
#4 Which way would your brother say?
Example: If the good path is left, and you ask the liar this question, he'll say Right, because his brother will say left and he himself lies. The truthful fellow will say right, because he tells the truth, and the other one lies.
So you ask the first twin what would your brother say?
If he is the liar he will know that his brother will tell you the truth and would tell you the right path but he is the liar so he will tell you the left. THen if you asked the one that tells the truth what would your brother say? He knows his brother would lie so he will tell you what his brother would say which would be left.
A time when they’re green, a time when they’re brown,
But both of these times, cause me to frown.
But just in between, for a very short while,
They’re perfect and yellow, and cause me to smile!

Where did the man live ?
How many times can you subtract the number 5 from 25?
#1
damn, I should know this. WHOA, what happened to the twins?
#3

#4 version 2:
A man comes to a fork in the road.
What question did he ask?
hmmmm even when I post the answer for number 4 it's going to angry the masses... lol
I think I have it!

I thought it was something like which way would your brother go?
I'm not sure which is harder... the answer the or not telling you how close you are lol.
Ok, i'll post them in the discussion area so people can post answers without having to read the entire thread.
#1 Banana. I only know this because I've seen it before. Not that I figured it out myself.

Does that make sense?
I change my answer to #3 to once.
LOL....
I'm going to enjoy this thread :)
Number 1 is daffodils I think.
Number 2 must be a lighthouse.
THX is probably right about the banana - but I like daffodils too! Hehehehe
This twins thing is going to haunt me all day. Thanks bunches and bunches of bananas OTS! UGH!!!
#1 Teeth or bananas
#2 Light house keeper
#3 as many times as you want
#4 Is your twin telling the truth?
Is your twin telling the truth?
muuuhahahahahahaha
So when do the answers come out?
MMM, I would ask that you not post riddles in this thread since i'm using the title area to post my riddles and answers.... I will however post any riddles you that you want me to put out there.

he he he
almost had to look..on the 2nd one...
I know I'm right on the last one...I've seen it...
and 1 and 3 make too much since....
I sent my answers to OTS directly....
Kitch got 1,3 and 4 correct.
Don't hate me for making you wait till tonight :)... maybe I will post more riddles this evening....I'll make it like 10....
Here's one...
A cowboy rides into town on Friday, he stays three days, and leaves on Friday, how does he do it?
Friday is his horses name
His horse's name is Friday ...
Ok, that didn't take long, I'll have to think of some tougher ones
I think I figured out the twins thing. The only question you could both of them is the one you already know the answer for...and that is if they are actually twins.
After that, you can ask the one twin that tells the truth the correct path to take.
:)
and that is if they are actually twins.
That's a good one. I think you'd get the answer to which one is the liar and which one is telling the truth, but you still wouldn't know which path leads you out...
:-)
I'm sure you only get one question....hehe...but in a real world...you'd tell them you'd kick the living crap out of them if they lie!!!!
The way the riddle reads is that you can only ask them one question.
Doesn't say you can't ask either one of them a second question.
Doesn't say you can't ask either one of them a second question.
Well then I suppose you could as a hundred "One" questions.
:-)
This has bugged me all day. I got that brain storm - maybe it was a tornado and so it's all blown to kingdom come and back - crossing over the Lafayetter Bridge this afternoon.
I'll sure be interested in seeing what the correct answer is.
I'll sure be interested in seeing what the correct answer is.
I already told you the correct answer.
THX 1138 2/18/04 5:47am
To #4 at least.
:-)
btw: I already knew the answer to #4. I figured it out when I was in high school. Took me all night one night to figure it out.
I didn't follow all that and besides - we were to come up with our own answers without slogging through everyone else's stuff.
Twin A and Twin B sounds like some sort of cable hookup! LOL!!
Answers for 1-4
#1 Bananas
#2 A lighthouse
#3 Only once. After the first calculation, you will be subtracting 5 from 20, then 5 from 15, and so on.
#4 Which way would your brother say?
Example: If the good path is left, and you ask the liar this question, he'll say Right, because his brother will say left and he himself lies. The truthful fellow will say right, because he tells the truth, and the other one lies.
I'll post the next riddles here shortly.
And all this time I assumed that the twins were female! lol
I don't think that makes sense.
How do you know which one is fibbing. You have both the liar and the one that doesn't lie saying right...but the good path is to the left.
Me too, OT!
BBIAB...gotta fro here for a few.
Ok.... Terry....
Lets say the correct path is right....ok?
So you ask the first twin what would your brother say?
If he is the liar he will know that his brother will tell you the truth and would tell you the right path but he is the liar so he will tell you the left. THen if you asked the one that tells the truth what would your brother say? He knows his brother would lie so he will tell you what his brother would say which would be left.
So you know you need to go right.
