good luck with the school hunting lisa, in my opinion ALLSt paul schools suck, this is lil' roasters 1st year and he hates it! he was so excited when he first started and now I can barely get him to go. Yesterday morning I had to yell at one of the other kids that was bullying someone, said he was gonna "put him in the hospital" GEEZ! this is frickin' elementary school! We are gonna try to sell our house and move north, looking for a couple of acres that we can put a pre-fab home on, hope this pans out, I absolutly have to get out of the cities, I just hate it here.

When we get a home we're aiming north as well. I want to stay in the Comcast system but that still leaves Hamlake and such.

I've got this thread bookmarked, but I'd like to find out how to get it set up so that each time I come back, it brings me in where I left off.

Can anybuddy give me some instructions about how to do that? Its probably really simple...

Thanks!

Me2- there is one converted to a house over here on the e-side of St Paul. It's located on Minnehaha betwixt Hazelwood St and Whitebear I think. I can find it if you really need to know.

getting teachers to pay attention around here is like pulling teeth, they want all this extra money for the schools but won't go out of there way to help any of the kids, they just don't care anymore. when chris (16) was in school, he could ditch and I wouldn't get a call for 2 weeks, if he was behind in his work, they didn't tell you untill the end of the quarter, then you had to rush to get him to do it before the quarter was over. When I was in school, if I ditched, my parents knew before that class was over!

I've had DSL, and I liked it fine.

Qwest pissed me off.

I'll give them my money only as a last resort.

Back to the kiddy mock hunt. TMK had a different clue for each child, and it was appropriate for that child's age. So each was sure to find a treasure and get a prize. He put LOTS of work into it and it was a lot of fun!

Then we gotta talk to TMK.....see if he is willing to give up his SKILLZ again

Kids had a lot of free time last year. His life has changed since then, so I don't know if he'd have the time to do that. But it certainly is up to him, not me, to make that decision.

Last year we had a picnic at Como park and a kiddy mock hunt. I did up a set of 3-4 clues for each child that was slated to be there. I assigned each child a landmark, where their treasure would be hidden. Then I wrote each clue alluding to that landmark, with the last clue I believe basically being a twelth clue, saying where to find the treasure. I tried to make the clues appropriate to the child's age. I think I used a Scooby theme for the clues, but I can't be sure. Each child had an adult hunter with them, as both a chaperone for safety and a guide to help them when needed. The treasure what they were looking for was a large Scooby Doo playing card, which they then could turn in to me upon their arrival and claim their prize. I did up prize packs which included a Sacajewea dollar coin, a small magnifying glass, small notebook, and some pencils. Oh yes, some candy Scooby Snacks provided by OuttaMyMind also. I thought the prizes were somewhat appropriate in that they each got a coin to take home, and they could use the notebooks, magnifying glass and pencils to do their own treasure hunting. Places where I hid treasure were the frog pond, the Ibsen statue, the Dutch Oven, the tennis courts. I can't remember the others. But that's how my hunt went basically.

I would be up for doing a hunt this year at some point for the kids again. I had thought Phalen might be a nice park because it is big. A large park with a number of landmarks is needed. I want each kid to have a treasure they can find, not have it be a race where someone is disappointed they can't find it. I had the idea of doing the kids hunt in conjunction with the cleanup day we had talked about. Yeah, my schedule is busy right now, and may get busier since I do have an interview for an assistant manager position tomorrow. But it wouldn't be that hard for me to write clues for a hunt if I have enough time to plan. I think I would do the same where I hide cards for kids to find, and turn in for their prize. As for their prize, I think for this hunt I would leave it up to the parents as to what they want as prizes for their kids. You could decide individually, or agree on something consistent that each child would get. It's up to you folks though.

does anyone know anybody that does snow plowing? I need some one to do the liquor store parking lot and sidewalks, the guy we have now doesn't do a very good job, he's doing it with 4 wheelers and it just looks like crap all the time, and we just got a notice from the city about our sidewalks.

Good Afternoon!

What a beautiful day outside! Too bad I hear a bunch of snow could be headed this way tomorrow :(.

LL, Lisa....what schools are your kids at? We have been in the St. Paul schools for 4 years and while they haven't been *completely* problem free, I'm pretty satisfied overall. Don't know what to say to the worries of them ditching class when they get older....THAT seems inexcusable that you don't have adequate notice. Hard to do anything if you don't know!!

Hey Mom! It is gorgeous out today...and I too heard about the snow/freezing rain stuff coming our way again tomorrow. I want it to be spring!

At least I got out of the office for a while this afternoon. I had a home visit on the west side. It felt nice being able to be out enjoying the weather instead of inside that office.

Almost from the day he moved into the neighborhood, Bissonnette began teaching tennis to kids, adults, anybody who was interested. At age 90, Bissonnette is still one of three instructors in the center's adult tennis program.

To note his dedication and work Bissonnette put into the center, its two tennis courts have been renamed in his honor, action officially approved by the City Council last week.

"There is a policy not to name centers for people, but we had to have something named for Ray," Krieger said.

Bissonnette, who worked in electronics at Honeywell and Control Data before retiring, was at a loss to explain why he chose to devote his time to the center and neighborhood, as if it were something everyone does.

"We saw the need, I guess," he said.
