lisa - a friend of mine had her one son at Nokomis and liked it, but he's now in high school so it's been awhile since I've heard anything about that school.
ok, thank you to KT for leaving the sleds for my kids to take after the Re-Hash! THank you to Diggin' 4 It Again for the beach ball -
also note: kids love how you changed your name from Diggin 4 it to Diggen 4 it again -they think next year would be good for Diggen 4 it again and again :)
was... I was on staff at many point scout camp (by detriot lakes) for 2 years...taught at camp flintlock .."high adventure base" ...worked on the C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) course and on the climbing walls.
I designed 3 of the climbing was up there that are currently in use. (and to think I'm so Outta shape now)
My local scouting geez..I really didn't do much. I had more fun being on the camp staff.
Anyways I was more active as a kid growing up in 4-H more then Boy Scouts...Reason--simple the girls....(kidding) In 4-H I was on the "shooting sports teams" did a lot of state and national meets in trap, air rifle, pistol, .22, etc.
but in the geocaching world there is a lot of boyscouters for some weird reason....outdoorsy thing i guess.
any of you guys know: how can I get my mileage better on the truck? will a tune-up give me better mileage? think its due. I am concerned about a good deal compared to the amount of service. Are all tune-ups the same? or do some places do less than others? any ideas?
A tune up is pretty much a tune up, but I'd pretty much skip midas, precision tune, or places like that. I'd bring it either to the dealer, or to a good garage. I always take my car to Smith Brothers in MPLS, but I'm sure that doesn't help you.
but combustion OR plugs and tune-up? I hate when they check everything out and then think its this and then they charge you for 'this' and then it turns out to have been 'that' -----uuuuuhhhhhhhh and you have to pay for more----
just like "is it the battery or is it the alternator?" fix one to fix the other ----rrrrrrrr anyone have any ideas?
Sometimes it can be something as simple as a dirty air filter or low tire pressure or carrying a heavy load. Or your car works harder if your oil level is low too. I always start with the best case scenario and if that doesn't fix the problem go from there. But I never give my mechanic carte blanche! They'll hand you a grocery list of things they want to fix.
And on a totally different note, I got a response from Nasa back today on a Return To Flight suggestion I made (two months ago). Seems almost like a form letter, but still cool to get.

that's what I suggested, but I doubt I was the first to think of it (probably woulda gotten a better letter in that case, maybe a thank you note, something signed?). Still nice to see my suggestion was listened to.
Dose this suck or what it's half way through the quarter and this $@&^%$^@#!! school is switching my Psychology teacher to some one else, talk about lame.
No worries! All should be good! Green is probably still sleepin ;) That woman can Par-tay! Much fun was had! She had Pops singing karaoke til 5 in the mornin Fri and back at the bar by noon until 3-4 AM Sat! I could hardley keep up :)
The drive up there's nuttin' - easy drive. We got there at 8:30PM, and Arty showed up about 9:30PM.
YOU SHOULD SEE THIS PLACE! Ittiz not a 'bar' bar... Ittiz a really nice place, Smokin' Hills! On the upper level's tables, pool, pinball (that robbed Pops blind...), foosball and darts. The second level's got tables and a really decent dance floor, and a stage. And the entire place is CLEAN! Not dirty or grungy or icky or barry or anything like that. Ittiz a really nice place. There's a third 'private' level... But I'll get to that! LOL!!!
There's softball/baseball diamonds outside, and volleyball, too. We're gonna work on a Cooler Crew get-to-gether up there.
So, the band starts and off we go. After a couple hours and some booze, even Pops danced. I was, as usual, The Mean Green Dancing Machine and even danced with myself if nobuddy else would dance with me! But I actually had plenty o'dance partners... Guys just came up and danced with me.
Marley, he's SO CUTE!!! (And you should see Arty w/o winter bundles on! THE WOMAN'S BUILT!) He's got real dreadlocks and I didn't recognize him 'cuz he didn't have his hat on!
We had a blast! When Arty could get away from the bar, it being Fri and kind'a quiet she could quite a bit, she came and sat with me and Pops and danced with me. And I was turned on to SCOOBY SNOT!!! Ittiz a green drink, very deadly, but oooohhhhhh sssssooooooo goood!!!!!
Midnite came and MY BURFDAY REALLY STARTED! Arty got the three o'us some Scooby Snot and we toasted. And we danced and we (I) sang... And had a great time!
I met our ice fishing "guide" - Jeff. (I met more wonderful fun people this past weekend and made a TON O'FIENDS!!!! Everyone up there acted like they'd known us all their lives, were so fun and friendly. Very kind, generous, fun people. I never ever ever once was made to feel like a "citidiot" - I was family.) He's just as cute as a bug's ear and can say "Scooby Snot" really good!!! :D Arty set it up with him to take me and Pops out fishing on Sat...
When the band quit at 1:00AM (?), THAT'S when the REALY party started!!! We went down into the third level - the "private" level...
There was Dawn, the cook at Pat's; Jeff; Arty; Marley; Terry - he's the Karoke guy; Shelly - my own private bartender that can make absolutely perfect bloody mary's!; and who am I forgetting? I think Todd and Mike where there, too...
And I did karoke for the first time in my LIFE!!! They even had "Buffalo Soldier" and "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley! And, of course, that's what I sang... Over, and over, and over and over and over... Marley finally had to just ignore me [Sat nite, I only got to sing them like once... LOL!!!].
Ignore all rumors that I got overheated...
And yes, even Pops sang!!! Though *I* couldn't hear him... He sounded just like the Snoopy parental voice to me... :D
They had the private room all fixed up - I like to think for me! - with candles lit on all the tables, and we did karoke until 5:30AM!!! There must'a been like eight o'us down there. And Arty sang - to me, dedicated to me - a-ca-pella - "Oh, Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz." Just for me! That woman has got a beautiful voice!!! So does Shelly.
Pops and I finally left at 5:30AM since we had to be bock there at noon to go ice fishing...
Well... *We* were bock at the bar at noon on Sat, and it was NO EASY feat, letmetellyou!!!
But where was our guide? LOL!!! He didn't haul in until 1:30PM!!! LOL!!! And Shelly had been there all nite and was in no shape to drive home, so Jeff took her... And then Jeff took Terry to have some disc copied or something...
And we met Marley's two brothers - Pat and Scott. Scott looks just like Marley! They're just as nice and sweet as Marley izz.
Pat whipped up eggs, bacon, toast and hasbrowns for the "family." And the day just went on and we never did go ice fishing!!!
Folks came in all day and bought me drinks for my burfday. Had a Komikize (sp?), more Scooby Snots... One from my dance partner of the night before!
I sent Pops and Jeff out to get a burfday cake and some steaks and potatoes for "the fam." You should have SEEN my cake!!! It was so beautiful with a lake on it, two pine trees, rocks - and a large mouth bobble bass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeff picked it out - to make sure I got a fish! :D I didn't want to cut it. We're going to put the bass over the bed - per Jeff's orders - and send him a pic!
I marinated the steaks - Arty says they were good, but they were really horrible... The steaks were too thin for the length o'time I marninated them. Anyway, Jeff cooked up the steaks for the "fam" and made the best chopped up potatoes I've ever had. Next time we go, I'm taking steaks from Lem's. Maybee even a rib roast. Yeah! And the grill, too.
So, again, danced all night long. Good band - Radio City. My partner from Friday nite was back.
And once the band was done... Down we went for more karoke and dancing! Met some more new fiends, and we kept going until 4:00 AM. *We* had to leave "early" because we had to head back to The Cities...
Arty and Marley gave me a burfday card - and I cried. It was really pretty and sweet. Pops got me a Hudson's Map Guide - Marley said he should have gotten the King version... And he got me a "handsome rake and a new ho'"!!! For digging next year! And the people at Pat's Bait Bar And Motel where we stayed gave me a gift certificate for a drink and a free appetizer... But we were at Marley's the whole time and I never used it! :D
See? Wasn't that THE MOST WONDERFUL BURFDAY!
Leela!!!! THANKS for the "Hippo Birdies"!!! My fav saying! :D
Oh! I forgot!!! Pat got me a green kitty/bear (I can't really tell which...) from the 'claw-thighy'? You know? The machine where the claw comes down and tries to pick something up? So, I got that too! :D
Hi, Kitch! Thanks for worryin'. But we came home Sun, I crashed until bowling, and then wasn't able to get on yesterday. Pops izz seeing to the phone bill today...
Thank you - every single one o'you - for your burfday wishes. I really appreciate it. I'm so glad you shared my burfday with me!!!!!
Hi Lisa!
Doing good....
havn't heard anything about that school lisa.
If 4 out of 5 people suffer from occasional diarrhea, does that mean the other one enjoys it?
KT - You are such a hoot!

How many miles on your truck?
Cars these days can go over 100,000 miles without needing a tune up.
86,000 miles
Has your MPG suddenly gone down?
Does it run funny?
A tune up is pretty much a tune up, but I'd pretty much skip midas, precision tune, or places like that. I'd bring it either to the dealer, or to a good garage. I always take my car to Smith Brothers in MPLS, but I'm sure that doesn't help you.
What kind of truck, and what kind of mileage are you getting? Is it an SUV?
yeah it dropped from when we bought it at 55,000 miles getting 16-17
to 86,000 getting 9-11 :(
1999 Dodge Durango SLT
we love it but I am not happy with the mileage. we used to get 300 miles to a tank-now its lucky to get 175!
we give it regular oil changes
Wow. That is low. Something going on with your combustion. Maybe it needs new rings.
Yeah, that ain't right.
I'd bring it in.

Yes it is. However, what took them so long to think of it? Takes a disaster I guess.
sometimes I fear the only way we ever really learn is by mistakes.
