Welcome to the 5th Annual Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt!
The treasure was found just before 9am on Wednesday, March 10th, by Me2. She will get a prize around $290 plus a variety of other goodies. It was found in Marydale Park on the north side in a pit under a tree near lamp post #12.
The wrap up party will be Saturday, March 13th at 8pm at Fabulous Fern's.
I called alice or cherokee park the first clue ;)
UnJoe!
Just to fully explain the concept, post #600 would be a Joe. But we don't worry about Joe's in Wonderland. We worry about unJoes.
This post is an unJoe!
You see, they're ever so much easier to get.
Well, things aren't always what they seem in Wonderland either. That may have looked like a Joe, but it actually was an unJoe! ;)
Now that there was an unJoe.
unJoe!

just wanted to show this log for this geocache that I went looking for at C.P.! (Thought maybe might stumble on a Kitty when looking for a geocache.
Really funny looking back on it since I'm o.k. and alive...but damn... was I scared that I was going to go on a "butt sledding ride/backwards" down the entire ravine.....
Wow Kitch! I'm glad you're ok. It reminds me of a time years ago when I was playing on the bluff in SSP, and the edge of the bluff gave way and my little friend and I went tumbling down the hill, riding it like an avalanche Came out of that one ok too. But it is scary!
I'm glad I didn't have my digital camera or pda with me ...I'm sure they would have broke into pieces.....
but I really do want to sneak down there again and take some photos it is really cool down there (looks like mini-glaciers)
No kitty though, huh? Did you see anyone looking?
Nope...and I didn't see anybody on my drive by at 345pm...I was out there from about 1030am to Noonish....
for some reason I couldn't get this outta my head....
I know I'm looking for a KITTY...but I'm chasing a wrabbit...where would a wrabbit hide...in a thickett....hmmm thickett at C.P....
oh geez full of dog poop in the thickett...I looked but I'm not diggin the doggin poopinn....just yet...
Hey Diggin, you're the one that should be getting the good luck wishes! Hope things go smoothly for you and be sure to show pictures when the time comes :)
Personal opionion the PDA GPS are a little spending and not "abuse" proof....
I'd look at a good PDA and a good GPS instead...then you can find a nice GPS that is waterproof and a little more "shock" proof.
A little more shock proof meaning being able to survive tumbles down icy ravines ;)
I'd be willing to bet I threw it up in the air maybe 20 feet or so...I went down hard and all I wanted was to grab a tree.....
Kitch, I was looking along some of the ravine in the park, thinking I didn't want to be tumbling down.
Just a little while longer now...
its not my cache ...its ian...and yep i know to be careful...but being careful and doing it is two different things...
looks like 5 to
Just a few more minutes...
hope I get more info on this one
I'm hoping its not too much of a clue... I just need a little I think...
Did you all hear? We're under a Winter Storm Watch for "significant snow fall" between tomorrow and Friday afternoon.
Allison - Looks like you'll have your snowy hunt yet!
its 6 :01 pm
Clue #4
The March Hare and Mad Hatter each grabbed a platter
And offered Alice a cup with all their usual glee.
“You make it quite well, what’s your secret, do tell?”
“We simply gather up the rain and stir in the tea!”
And the previous clue:
Clue #3
Hearing of the slithy toves and mimsy borogoves
Made Alice ask for a dictionary from the porter.
But when he gave her a tome as big as a home
She asked if there was any way to make it shorter.
Clue #2
Alice's adventure had begun before she saw the rabbit run,
In an outdoor setting having some biscuits and tea.
Go now and don't be late for your very important date.
Dining and cooking you'll find figure most prominently.
Clue #1.
Only those with habits like chasing white rabbits
Look in Wonderland trying to find this treasure, alas.
Vanished is the Cheshire Cat. Which park could he be at?
You might start with a peek through the looking glass.
NICE clue writing AW..I love it....
Hmm, I think I have this clue figured out.
“We simply gather up the rain
I'm getting more confused on every clue
And stir in the tea - as in tea leaves.
If you take "rain" and stir in a "T" you get TRAIN. But I think there
might be something very sneaky in his clues. Nice Job AW!
Someone mentioned that park over across the highbridge earlier but didn't know the name of it. That would be Prospect Park.
cup:
a beaker, bowl, cannikin, chalice, cupful, demitasse, draught, drink, goblet, grail, mug, pannikin, potion, stein, taster, teacup, tumbler, vessel
that's what I was thinking Mr. Med Hunter
a platter...can be a disc, disk, frisbee, manhole cover, album
snowball or ice with leaves
Someone mentioned that park over across the highbridge earlier but didn't know the name of it. That would be Prospect Park
its Peace Park at the bottom of the highbridge
Prospect is where that beautiful white mansion sits on the bluff off Prospet blvd near Isabell.
excellent clue!
3M - that was what I was thinking.
Thinking about that Train idea and keeping an open mind to which park it might be in, I thought of the little train that used to be at Como. But nothing else up in that area fits.
There are trains near the river, but can also be seen from Mounds.
I am, however, leaning towards Cherokee. Things can be made to fit there.
Having said that though, there may be a catch or two in some of this we haven't figure out.
Open mind...open possibilities...
me 2 - That's right..but I was talking about the one on the upper side of the high bridge - across Smith from Cherokee. That's prospect, right? They have one of those viewing thingys there.
Terry you always pcik Cherokee :)
there is Duluth and Case as well as Marydale -you can see trains from many parks
The train goes right by Langford park many times a day.
No...I almost always pick Mounds! LOL!! I love Mounds Park!
Near Marydale are two railroad bridges...one that carries trains over Maryland and another one that carries them over Dale St.
no its not Prospect there - actually just yesterday I was visiting a friend at the condos there on the bluff and I reread some information and pictures in the foyer area. The land was donated by MILLER who said the land there was never to be used for houses or business that it was to stay clear for people to enjoy the view. BUT our maps tell us today it is the tail of Cherokee park to -SMITH to OHIO. soooooooo, I am on a mission to find out when or if it ever became apart of Cherokee. will keep you updated but it will take a few weeks I am sure.
Prospect is over east further by about 3 blocks from Ohio and Isabell.
I gotta go-got a meeting to be at tonight-but will peek back in after 10 tonight. Have fun!
That's right. I do that all the time with that little park - whatever it's called. There are things that get stuck and can't seem to get unstuck.
RIANT
---could be train...but could be riant..as well...
Definition: \Ri`ant"\, a. [F. riant, p. pr. of rire to laugh, L.
ridere.]
Laughing; laughable; exciting gayety; gay; merry; delightful
to the view, as a landscape.
In such cases the sublimity must be drawn from the
other sources, with a strict caution, howewer, against
