Hey KT. Wanna smooch? Thanks for sharing Ian. I'm glad your friend is out there for us. Thanks LL - I think I'm gonna start early and head out tonight for a few and find a band. ESD - Hasn't your brain exploded yet? Mine would have by now. Kitch - You suck. that's all ;-)
Holy Crap! I've never seen that before. I wonder if that was what they're handing out to the people who place during the Carnival tournament? I've been boycotting that event for the last few years because of the inconsistancies in their entry fees and prizes. Cooler! That looks like a mini but it sounds like it's full size. Reg - You see this?
Companies often sell special editions of discs to raise funds for tournaments. Gotta Go Gotta Throw sold those to raise funds for the Winter Carnival tourney.
I wanted a fundraiser 2004 USDGC Champion Roc but they sold out in less than 24 hours.
I'm not going to be able to grab anything on this crappy laptop with dial up that is really not even dialup because I'm on an island....then the damn laptop has a virus...but heck I got go weather so maybe its better that i'm not on the computer instead of spending quality time with the family....
Cooler next quarter I switched to afternoon classes so I don't have a split sift any more. It sucked getting done with class at noon and going home then coming right back 4 hours latter for work.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY CM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinkin' Green's on sabbatical... The Boy's 15th birthday is tomorrow. 1st day of spring!!!!!!!!The Vernal equinox!!!! Stand an egg or two on end on your counter for the kids- it's fun. No truth to the myth, but kids love it..... Hello to all else. NO! CM!! I DO NOT WANNA NECK!- *grumble...flipping perv- thinks I'll have jusy anybody...*grumble
We don't know how, and we're not asking, but Kollin received his Junior Gold packet today. Both boys have qualified for the national tournament in Dallas !
They called and had us call Brian's cell phone so he wouldn't be charged for the call. We had some trouble getting through the international access deal, but finally talked to both of them - mostly Brian.
Brenda says he looks really good - but lots skinnier. He's lost a total of 66 pounds and weighs less than when he was in high school.
I guess he was awake about 3am this morning to get ready for the trip to Guatemala City. He takes motion sickness pills so he doesn't get sick on the buses. He was on the bus at 4am and traveled for 9 hours today. He and Brenda hooked up, but he said it almost didn't happen as his cell phone kept cutting off. He had dinner with the group she's with tonight and has a cab called to get him back to the bus to go back to his site in the morning. He was really tired and planning on going to bed as soon as we hung up.
His camera and cookies arrived safely with Brenda. He was really glad to see her.
Brenda has had a wonderful time and is sunburned. She said she'd tell us more when she gets home tomorrow night. She has done some shopping from the sounds of it and has "lots of stuff".
Sounds like he's thinking about going back to Michigan for work when he's done. He really liked Michigan and thinks he'd like to work there - and that it works out nice for coming back to Minnesota.
I never thought before that he was so close to home in Michigan - but compared to Guatemala, it's practically next door.
Sure glad to hear his voice and to know this all worked out today.
Just a late night check in..... we're still alive.....
Mother in law is leaving tomorrow, then my Grandparents are in the process of moving up here...... new schedule !!!! and crazy times ahead.... Hope you are all doing well :)
Terry V so glad to here your kids got together. It may seem like it is very rough on your son but I think he will grow so much from being in such a primitive place so far from family and friends. He will appreciate what we have here and we take for granted every day. All and all I think a good dose of reality is good for the soul.
ESD - I know he's already said he'll never take washers and dryers for granted again. Before he left for the Peace Corps, he told my Mom that he has had so many advantages in his life that he felt it was time for him to suffer and give something back. He has certainly found a way to suffer - and a way to make a difference. The good thing is that he believes that he is making a difference there.
We should be hearing from Brenda any moment now. Her plane should have landed by now. I'm so excited to hear all about the trip!!! We heard a quick hi from her after they went through customs in Atlanta. Once she calls, we'll head out and by the time we get out there, she should have her luggage and we'll be able to pull up and pick her up.
Sounds like they had a wonderful trip. She brought back tons of souvenirs and tomorrow she's going to get the film developed that has the pictures of her and Brian and will bring those up to work and we'll have lunch together. The rest of the film she'll have developed after she gets paid next.
She must have talked about her brother all week. By yesterday when they saw him, they said "our brother is here!". Brenda said lots of them got to crying and all that when they first saw each other. She said he looks really good and is genuinely happy. He had dinner with them last night, slept there and got up early this morning to get a cab back to the bus. They spent about another hour talking this morning while he waited for the cab. She told us she thought he seemed a bit sad when it was time to go. There time together was short but sweet.
She talked about the places they saw and the things they did. One of the places they visited is surrounded by volcanoes and has a huge lake. Brian hasn't seen it yet and I guess pictures don't do it justice. Brian is going to try to take some time and go there before his stint with the Peace Corps is over.
Brenda talked about the poverty, the dogs, men with machine guns, people with machetes, lack of running water and icky tortillas. She came home with a little cold. She got a bit burned on her nose and arms from the sun, but it should tan up nicely. She said the diet was mostly vegetables, beans, rice and tortillas with some chicken and beef now and then. They did stop at a McDonald's yesterday or Friday.
HOW IS EVERYONE ELSE?
JOEJOEJOEJOE!!!!!
Aghhh two weeks left of this quarter at least I only have three projects left to do.

Today is the day my kids meet up in Guatemala. Got this email from the oldest one just a little bit ago...and they are in the same time zone.
Anyway, just talked to Brenda. I'll be meeting her a little after 4pm.

That's wonderful news Terry!
Me either!
Just off the phone with the kids!!!
They called and had us call Brian's cell phone so he wouldn't be charged for the call. We had some trouble getting through the international access deal, but finally talked to both of them - mostly Brian.

Truly commendable Terry. The kids and their parents.

It's sure good to have her home again!
Wat up crew one week of this quarter left. All I have left to do is finish my Psy report and a collage then a water color greeting card.
Glad things were OK with Brenda TV. I'm sure the experience will grow on her as she gets older.
ESD - That still seems like a lot to do in a week, but I'm sure you will turn on the steam by just smelling the great scent of spring break.
Here's something that I always find fascinating.
Vet's Stadium
Me2 said to tell everone to watch Channel 5 news today. Me2 was interviewed.
I just talked to the reporter who is going live like right now-so turn on your tv's :)
