Religion & Morals

When Gary told me he had found Jesus, I thought, Ya-hoo! We're rich! But it turned out to be something different.

My first illegal drug was beer when I was a teenager. I used a fair amount of marijuana back in the day, participated in a peyote ritual with a Hopi shaman, took LSD or something like it maybe half a dozen times, psilocybe mushrooms a couple of times.

I've taken the occasional painkiller that was prescribed to someone else when I was in pain, but I've never taken any kind of downer to get high. I've taken various stimulants to stay awake (much like the Air Force gives them to pilots), but again, never to just get high.

It's been several years since I've taken cannabis in any form. Oh, yeah, back when it was fashionable, about 20 years ago, I tried cocaine a couple of times and never saw what the fuss was about; the cost-benefit ratio just wasn't favorable.

uh..."Quit talking to me crabgrass" - Torpedo-8

now..how can I quit talking to you if you keep asking me questions?

were you lying when you said for me to quit talking to you or are you lying when you asked me a question just now?

because I can't do both.

BTW, the answer is "my health is none of your fucking business"

so you mean I could have gone and bought beer when I was 15, and no one told me?

that's an amoral law, by the way.

For those under the legal drinking age, alcohol is an illegal drug. The fact that it is legal for adults does not lessen the fact that it is the most destructive recreational drug in common use in this country, being a contributing factor to a large portion of highway deaths, spousal abuse, assault and homicide, to name but a few. As such, the country banned its sale, posession and use for a time, but found that the cure was worse than the disease, and replaced the enforcement model with the public-health approach. So far, such a rational attitude towards other popular mood-altering substances has escaped us, and more's the pity.

Alcohol in itself, is legal. Because someone underage buys it, does NOT make the product illegal. The person and/or the act of buying it IS illegal.

pot is legal too then

You mean there is no prescription marijuana?

Wed, 04/28/2004 - 6:05 PM Permalink

Why yes there is. According to Bill-Fold, there are a grand total of 5 people in the entire country who get pot that way. And he just happens to know most of them.

therefore it is legal for some, and by your defintion, a legal product

So, beer is a legal product for some and illegal for others.

Just like weed.

You said beer was a legal product.

If beer is, then weed is

If grammar and punctuation are an indicator of one's mental function, jethro, I'd have to ask what you've been using -- and that doesn't even touch on what passes for logic on your planet. I'll go head-to-head with you on any standardized intelligence/cognitive function test you name, any time, anywhere, no prep classes, braino á braino.

When I posted an honest answer to THX's question, I figured I'd get responses like torp's and jethro's cheap and easy shots, but I did it anyway, 'cause I think THX is a decent guy. Torpid was pretty quick on the trigger, but it took jethro almost 24 hours to come up with essentially the same shot. Some intellect that is. jethro, a hint: when it comes to snarky comebacks, the first rule is "better never than late."

I think it's even money that he'll read that as "better late than never" and make an ass of himself.

Like I said full of yourself and for no reason.

For the record, I've smoke pot, and unlike Clinton, I did inhale.

I honestly didn't like it much, and I can't see myself driving or working or anything under its influence.

I took "Speed" when I was in High School to stay awake in class (I worked full time as well as went to school full time). I don't even think it was illegal stuff, but it was a big mistake. I was about 20 lbs underweight and simply not healthy.

That's my experience with "drugs".

I also drank a little when I was underage, but it wasn't much.

and you believe in supernatural and are therefore superstitious. Another offensive statement from an offensive individual. Christianity is not "superstitious" as the term is generally understood.

Nonsense. It is a war and both sides are attacking. There is no victimization. But the left, as you do, deny the truth.
