This pic is cute as heck!
yep!!!!
Nancy's Landing.
Storing that away in my brain.
Wheres your Dads place in Hinkley? I own 40 acres close to lake 11 in Hinkley.
What happened to the camper? And where is it, that you spend your weekends in the summer?
I guess there was a defect in the linolium and over the winter it split all the way down the whole camper, our warranty was up but because so many people were calling and complaining, they decided to extend the warranty so it was covered. We have a site up in isanti on the rum river, it's about an hour up Hwy 65, it's a great place, the owners are pretty cool and all of the other seasonals are pretty fun to party with after the kiddies go to bed :)

He's actually in Brook Park if you know where that is, almost midway between Hinckley and Mora on 23. It's one of those towns that if you blink going past it you will miss it, But it does have 2 bars :) Or it used to anyway.
not sure where that is, I have an Aunt that lives by the Sandstone exit off 35E. My land is by lake 11 between Sandstone and Krochle. I've probably driven through that way before.
I know Brook Park VERY well..I used to bartend at the Legion in MORA..so we'd stop in there on the way to the Casino sometimes...
Cool! That's where I grew up, about 6 miles over the highway and across the railroad tracks on the dirt road. they actually had a little grocery store when I lived there but it's gone now, I think it's just the 2 bars and a little post office now.
small world...
great pics! wow are you lucky about the tile!!!
Since its a small world: my great aunt was the original owner of Tobies :) when it was located IN Hinckley before it was moved to highway 35. Luckly my great great grandparents survived the Hinckley Fire in 1894. I had a friend in Askov that I lost touch with back in the mid 80's- anyone know a Christine Pittman? Or does anyone know the CURRIE family up there?
doesn't sound familiar, of course my dad pretty much kept me under lock and key so I only talked to my friends at school, I think that's why I was such a rebel when I got to como ;)
Kitch- did you know alot of people in mora? I had a girlfriend that went to mora high school, Kim Orr, and she had a brother but I can't remember his name, I want to say maybe ken or something like that.
I know a ken that was a state patrol officer...Forgot his last name...
he married a good friend of mine.....
I have no Idea what he ended up doing.
My first shot from my Seattle trip. The area you see is called "Big Creek Falls". At the top of the falls is a lake called Dream Lake, where a geocache was located that I tried hard to get. But as you can see, it was a was up at the top of the creek, and I had agreed to meet my ride back at the trailhead @ 5:30 PM, I simply didn't have the time to make it to the top, but I had more than enough will to.
The ascent to the top of the creek took a mile, with an elevation gain of 1750 feet. I reached the creek after a 5 mile hike along the taylor river trail at about 2:45 PM. After climbing along the creek up about 300 feet or so, I decided I didn't have enough time to make it all the way, and still be able to get back to the trailhead at 5:30 (it was 5 miles back of course).
More dissapointing was that someone else made it up there on Monday (I attempted on Wednesday) and reported the lake was still under snow.
You can see his pictures of the lake here.

I would have liked to get this cache, but time was against me. It will remain a dream for me, at least for the forseable future.
Very cool pix KC.
More, more!
I got some cool ones, just didn't have much time last night. I'll post a few over the next couple days to spread the lot out a bit.
Check out Doink's page in the geocaching thread, I posted a couple pics there.
Okay getting these pics up. Hard to choose the best ones and keep things brief, but I'll do my best
First pic is going through Glacier National Park, looked across the mountains to see a freight train on the other side, so I got one good shot of it.
Same day, we stopped for a break in Glacier park for a few minutes. Actually it was just a smoke break, since there's no smoking on any of the train cars anymore, but it still gave me a good opportunity to get out and snap a few shots. This one is of a Caboose converted into a cabin.
That's very cool.
hell yeah.... that first one of Glacier is a good shot.
okay I thought of a better way to do this.
I placed all the images (well still working on them) in my image gallery. Less cluttered and a bit faster to work with.

Plently more to come, and some really good pictures there. So far I got the Glacier Park stuff, riding through the Cascade Mountains, Snoqualmie Falls, Snoqualmie Pass, Pike's Place Market, etc.
you needed a cell phone to contact that person and say you would be late...or just not show up and let them send out the Mounties for you- that would be a cool experience :) ..."but, but, I have to find the cache" as they drag him from the woods. cache (cash) hahaha, they probly think you robbed a bank and hid the money out there.
Very cool-thanks for sharing and giving me the visual of them dragging you outa the mountains.
Thanks KC - You took care of my fix. Nice shots
Incidently, here's what was going on outside my office window at work today.
Something to keep the MNDOT camera operators busy
I'm gonna kick that guys ass who tossed his cigarette out his window
Nothing like closing down the busiest hwy in the state
Might as well get out the hot dogs and marshmallows at this point (notice the glass blowing out from the back and side windows)
wow!
wow! I guess that guy had a really bad day!
cooler photos

Exactamundo. I would assume it was on the news as there were a number of helicopters flying around too.
P.S. - Thanks Kitch

JOE PHOTO!!!
Here's a shot of one of the helicopters. The low quality of these optimized web photos are killing me.

Nice skyline photo CM. Look how small the Foshay Tower looks!
Sometimes you get to a geocache that you thought would be much easier than it ended up being. That was Goose Rock at Deception Pass State Park. I thought it'd just be a rock, come to find out, it was a small mountain, or it seemed like it. Took an hour on the ascent to the top (mostly because I was unprepared for that kind of hike). But the view made it all worth it. I was just bummed I didn't bring a lunch with me so I could sit and admire it longer. It was fairly windy though, that was the day the wind storm blew through Seattle, some locals were saying tornado, but I think I knew a bit better, I didn't see any evidence of a tornado, just really strong winds.
and a closeup of the cove you can see from goose rock. Apparently in the geocache logbook, someone said on a clear day, you can see Canada from here.
Very nice! I love panoramic pix. How many shots did it take for each of them?
took about 5 or 6 for those (actually the same shot, ones just more area and less detail.
I love this post :)
Underground Skylights. Got my third and fourth days up for viewing on my site.
Pictures of the underground tour, Russian sub, a harbor cruise, and the Space Needle.
Scroll back a couple posts for the link and check em out.
Cool man! I hope you make some $$!
Can you make money off the Gollum design? Wouldn't that be copyrighted?
thanks frosti

It's my art work, I looked at a still shot for rereference but its not a copy.
Awesome ESD! GL with the $
Damn.... you should ditch the site, and do it all on your own.... be like the start up rappers that sell copies of their tapes and cd's and stuff..... you could make your own snowboards, with these bad ass designs on them, and pull into highschool parking lots and sell them from the trunk...
A good idea for down the road though thanks ninja.
