oasis still fits (maple)
central park has oakcrest
Here is the only reason I liked Oasis last night...because before the hunt even started people were talking about meeting at the Oasis! hahaha and Reg thought it was a bar. sooo I thought last night how funny these hunts have been lately with SSP and Oakdale where we were really getting the parks on clue 2!
hahaha
We just put a Maple tree in someones front yard the other night :)
Rosebrook is on Oakcrest
Â
I can't go-I dont have the truck til thisafternoon- and I get to go see KANSAS tonight -whoowho! Looking forward to a night out-but outside? mosquitos! rrrrr
Kansas, I've heard a few of their songs before, interesting band.
BTW Howard Johnson could still work too, Woodhill, fernwood, dellwood. A lot of wood. But Oasis does sound good... I can't look tonight, stinks but what do ya do?
The 3:00 clue might give away a lot more info though....
Â
THE COIN HAS BEEN FOUND-
Its official -
TMK
saw the coin- 2 teenage girls found it under a swing bench in OASIS PARK!
Â
he is in the park now trying to make some calls to catch people before they go out.
thank you very much TMK and Me2... I would've been there for a while. I would've already left by now but I was told.
Sheesh all that getting ready for nothing!!!
2 teenage girls found it under a swing bench in OASIS PARK!
Well.. at least I don't have to worry about going out to look. Teenagers :P Tell em to get jobs!
No offense Regman ;)
BTW, under a swing bench? Lame placement...
hehehe that was a perfect setup now that I think about it
If only the two teenage girls were looking around that area and I found it :)
Lol Reg, you could have even offered to take em out to dinner with all those gift certificates.
dangit you are right
And bought them some jewelry
I wont even get into details with the hotel prize;)
hahahaha-
Â
What is with these clue writers? There clues arnt bad -it's placement! They have 28 parks-Oakdale has like 10 parks! and they give a street clue on clue 4! Now if it were say...in a city with 100 parks! geeesh! What do they expect? people are not that dumb.
lol
Well good riddance to this hunt anyways, nice to have it, but the timing really sucked for me, I barely got any time to get out and look! But at least it's over and I can get back to my plans in peace, not to mention work on my goal for hitting 300 finds by the end of the month.
BTW Reg, I nabbed the FTF on that Letterbox Ian hid at Cherokee. And the jeep TBug of course.

Congrats !
NICE!!! I knew you would!!
Of course GC.com was down this morning, might have been to my advantage ;)
Thanks Ian
Hey diggin, I got another Jeep!
Did reg tell ya tuesday I went back up to rat tree nest and managed to climb all the way up this time? Holy Cow, that whole tree was shaking!
Excellent Diggin, now you can get that 50th find in no time!
I thought about going to get that letterbox...but...hitting refresh on the "cache her if you can game" instead!!!
Okay, so I'm back. I have been out enjoying the day, finishing my book. I went out this morning, first to Langton Lake. In my book, I thought Maple went into the park. Driving to the park, I realized that it was County Road C2 instead. I then went to Oasis, as I had just finished talking to Diggin who was going there, and the park was a few minutes away. I pulled up and parked. Looked around, thought it looked promising. I saw some girls over at the softball diamond, looking under the bench. I walked along the pond towards Maple St, wanting to see if the clue pinpointed where along the pond it was. I walked down and back, just checking amongst the weeds for it. Didn't see it. I was at the park entrance, where the park name sign is, when I heard some excited screams. Two teen girls were running excitedly to their car from the direction of the playground area. They got in their car, and I thought the passenger had what could have been the disk in her hand. They pulled out, and were going to leave. I made a gesture to them, trying to find out if they had indeed found it. They lowered their window, and I asked. They said yes, they had found it under a bench swing, pointing just beyond the playground. I asked to see it, to make sure. The passenger showed me it. It was fairly big, although not as good-looking as in the picture. I congratulated them and they went on their way. I waited for Diggin to show up. Told her the story. Then waited for Reg, sitting on the bench they supposedly found it while I read my book. I have to say, the bench seemed like a poor spot to hide it. The seat of the bench was three pieces of wood, with large gaps between them. Oh well, if I had gotten my butt out of bed a bit sooner maybe I would have had it.
I like the consensus, "good clues, lame spot."
Ditto - Can't wait for me2's real hunt
If I were a sponsor of any of these hunts, I'd threaten to pull out unless they made it more difficult. Prolonging it would get more people hunting thus getting more advertising out of it as well.
Kinda sad really. The flip side is last years IGH hunt where it was never found even though there were tons of hours spent in the exact area where it was hid. It was still more satisfying than a spot right out in the open.
There was a lot out there in the park for clues. Playground, bench swings, softball field, pond, gardens, basketball, pathway.... there were some better spots to hide it definitely. More along the fringe of the park though.
Was it retrieved eventually, CM, or was it just not there
The clue writer says it was still there. But who knows? Maybe he wanted to save face. I went and looked right where he said it was hidden and it could have been there because I didn't know the actual size of the coin to begin with. He said he kinda buried it snug up against a support beam of a bridge. If it was the size and thickness of a quarter, it could have been overlooked I guess. That's why I wasn't too upset with the exception that my back was fried for a month afterwards.
This year's hunt starts June 28th. Mark your callendars, looks like summer will offer a ton of medallion hunting opportunities.
