I told the wife that if I got this job I need to get a motorcycle.  Everybody else in the new department has one.

Nice.  A has told me I can get one - if I get rid of the car.  Doesn't work well for the other 9 months of the year though.

I enjoyed the 20 questions to a better personalityquiz, and found the results fairly accurate.

Wackiness: 62/100
Rationality: 44/100
Constructiveness: 60/100
Leadership: 44/100

You are a WECF--Wacky Emotional Constructive Follower. This makes you a candle burning at both ends. You work until you drop, and you play until you can stand to work again. You have so much enthusiasm that you can find it hard to control on your own, and you appreciate the guidance that channels your energy and lets you be your best.

In a relationship, you require lots of attention and support. You often over-contribute and end up feeling depleted and cheated. You may benefit from more time alone than you grant yourself.

Your driving force is the emotional support of others--especially affection. You can run on empty for miles if you have positive energy behind you. Without it--as it occasionally must run dry--you are depressive, listless, and difficult to motivate.

You need a lot of affection. Get it any way you can, but never at the cost of your self-respect or well-being.

Wackiness: 34/100
Rationality: 50/100
Constructiveness: 74/100
Leadership: 56/100

You are an SECL--Sober Emotional Constructive Leader. This makes you a politician. You cut deals, you change minds, you make things happen. You would prefer to be liked than respected, but generally people react to you with both. You are very sensitive to criticism, since your entire business is making people happy.

At times your commitment to the happiness of other people can cut into the happiness of you and your loved ones. This is very demanding on those close to you, who may feel neglected. Slowly, you will learn to set your own agenda--including time to yourself.

You are gregarious, friendly, charming and charismatic. You like animals, sports, and beautiful cars. You wear understated gold jewelry and have secret bad habits, like chewing your fingers and fidgeting.

You are very difficult to dislike.

The problem is, the cable is coming down off the pole and lying in a heap in my backyard.  The install people haven't returned my calls to come hook it up, and the Tour de France is half over!

I can do a cable installation, but you need the box for the TV.  maybe you can stop by the cable office and get a box.

It's been a while, but I used to do RF cable installation stuff in college.  E-mail me if you're half-serious.

Maybe you could send the cable company a bill for an independent contractor you had to hire.  heh.

Man, I would be screaming bloody hell murder all over their asses.  Okay, that's probably a little strong.  I would be politely but rather firmly telling them that if they can't provide service, perhaps they would be so kind as to credit you a years service for when they *DO* get it hooked up.  Then haggle.  And then when they settle for 3 months free service, tell them if it's not hooked up by the end of the week, you'll be calling the better business bureau and the chamber of commerce for the city in which you reside.

Dude, I don't watch any TV anyhow.  We rented a movie on Saturday night and I watched The Simpsons this Sunday, and that's all the TV I've watched this week.

Rented Matchstick Men, and I would recommend it.  Especially if you're a Nicholas Cage fan.

E-mail from my brother:

So, I've got to start the morning off with an apology.  Here's the
story:

Yesterday we got a call from someone claiming to be carpet cleaners
saying
they'd clean a room in our house for free.  We said sure, why not?.  We
could stand for our carpets being cleaned.

Four hours and forty minutes after they got to the house last night we
were
desperately clinging to life after this crazed high pressure sales crew
for
Kirby has finished kicking our ass.  In my delirium, I handed over your
phone number just to get them moving towards the door.  At this point,
we
had said no to buying their $2,000 vacuum cleaner about 10 times and I
couldn't muster the energy to say no another 10 times when asked for a
reference.  Now that I'm a little more lucid, I'm emailing to warn you
about
a potential sales call coming your way.  I'm also going to give their
office
a call this morning to give them a little piece of my mind and to tell
them
that if they call you, I'll report them to the Better Business Bureau
to
complain about some of their "sales" tactics.

So, sorry if you do get a sales call, but hopefully it'll never come.

What a night.
Matt

I finally got mine fixed after this move...the cable guy that came out was awesome this time....
he downloaded a newer ad-ware and ran a scan...I was telling him I use ad-ware and won't have issues...but he found something else anyways.....

but then he found a small break in the cable line. Been good since.

We met our neighbors last night.  They're cool people.  Bought their lot, which is probably a full acre, back in 1955 for $1200!  They built their house in 1956 and have lived there ever since.  They've got great stories about watching the neighborhood be built around them.

Don was telling us that the whole area used to be a farm.  The man and his wife who lived owned it lived in a tin shack.  Don estimated him to be about 90 years old at the time.  Don said the guy would bring veggies by to the people who lived nearby, and loved to talk.  Once he died, his wife sold the land and it's all been developed.
