In our neighborhood cars are constantly being "abandoned" over here either in front of people's houses or behind their garages. The ones found behind garages are completely stripped down to the frame, including the tires. YIKES!
We can keep an eye open for it too...wouldn't be the first time a car was abandoned around here.
Of course the neighbors Honda Civic was stolen about a year ago - had a full alarm thing on it that drove us all nuts - went off at the slightest anything...a car going down the road, a helicopter anywhere in the vicinity, a truck rumbling down the road a block away. The alarm didn't go off when it was stolen. Â
If it was abandoned around here, it might not stay long come to think of it.
I neglected to tell you "the rest of the story". Apparently the car had been used for burglaries and there was some stuff left in there like a piggy bank with money in it and assorted pieces of sterling silver. These were turned into the St. Paul Police Dept and were claimed. Then a couple of years later I gave the car to a daughter who was going away to school. She was doing a thorough cleaning of it and found a diamond ring under the seat! Police had no record of anyone looking for a ring at that time, and they couldn't even find any record of when my car was stolen. So, it wasn't such a bad deal after all. :)
Shaggy's moms car was jacked a couple years back, and was recovered over on the west side, with shirts and socks and other clothes in it, that probably belonged to the car-stealers.
My sister's Camero was stolen from the St. Paul TVI parking lot and used for joy riding. The found it with both doors open in the middle of the University and Snelling intersection. The cops said that they ran out of gas. Just think of their panic at that busy intersection. They totalled her car too.
My sister stole my car once-when she was like 13? she and her boyfriend and another friend -I think- I can't recall all the details except that the cops started chasing them and they ditched my car and I got a phone call!!! I ended up in court -fighting a ticket due to a minor driving my car. I had to explain that she did not have permission and she had to tell the judge that I didn't give it to her. If I woulda given permission than I would have to pay a fine.
I got it to work on the edit screen but not on the posting screen. Just hit my edit button THX and see what I mean. Play with the hidden HTML if you want but I think there's something within the CC site that just won't allow it anymore.

We had our Suburban stolen one weekend from our driveway.Â
It was found a block away, down the alley in another driveway. The owners of that driveway called the police when they found it there.
We think they took it for a joy ride and thought they were bringing it back to the same driveway.
Unfortunately, the insurance company totaled it because they had done such a number on it during their joy ride.
