FWIW:Â A van can tow a boat or a trailer, but I won't be hauling either.
It's got one sliding door (Passenger side), and the rear door is auto also.Â
No DVD player. I looked at how much they are to install when I was at Ultimate Electonics getting my alarm, and they're too much $$$$$. If/when we take a long trip I'll just buy one of those portable ones. Or just use the laptop.
At least on my van is that you can't open the driver side back sliding door when the gas door is open.......
Yeah, mine has that too. Keeps your hand and pump from getting smashed by the kids. I'm speaking from experience on that one.
Well I gotta put in my two cents with the car dealership that I'm dealing with right now. Morrie's Brooklyn Park Isuzu.Â
I first stopped in to check on a car and they were nice enough to let me test drive it over night provided I filled out the paper work and gave them the keys to my rental in case they had to move it. When I returned the car the next day I was willing to deal but the salesman was off and the business manager wasn't willing to deal at all except by keeping the posted price and stretching out the loan. Yeah, that helps. Anyway, when I wanted to go they couldn't seem to find my rental keys. They suggested that I take the Caddie that I test drove the day before until the salesman came the next day. After an hour of going back and forth with the car rental place on getting a key cut, I decided that I didn't want to drive that car again to give the impression that I could leave it. After some BS from another sales associate about not being able to let me take any other car because my car already had plates installed, I said that there were plenty of cars out there with plates and I wasn't going to drive that particular car home. So they put me in a Daewoo. I laughed at first because it's at the opposite ends of the spectrum from what I'm looking for but it turned out to be a quick little car.
I had Enterprise cut a duplicate key just in case they mysteriously misplaced my keys again. I show up the next day and the salesman shows up 1 hour late making me late for work. I did get my keys back. We haggle over the phone from work and finally make a deal. (I'd go into that nickel-and-dime nightmare but this boring ass story is already too long)
Day #4 I'm waiting for financing to come in. They said they found a good rate but had to wait until tomorrow when the boss came in for approval from the finance company. Day #5 it's a done deal (at 6% - next time I finance myself) and told to come pick up the car on Saturday. When I asked if the bumper was done being painted, he said that he didn't send it in yet because the deal wasn't done. There goes another 2 days. Today was to be the final pick up day - a week later. I called to check on it and he said that Maaco had to repaint it because they screwed it up when pulling off the tape. I said MAACO? WTF? He said that they were always good at what they did for him. (yeah, I can tell)
Anyway, I supposably can pick the thing up tomorrow. But they catch is that my salesman won't be around. And he promissed me that he'd fix an outside temp indicator, find me a manual, give me a couple of free oil changes and fill the thing up. I just don't see all of that happening for some reason. I'll let cha know what happens tomorrow. I don't know why Saturn doesn't go into the used car business to set themselves apart. The #1 complaints to the BBB are from used car dealerships.
They did offer me a service plan for $1300. Anybody have any experiance with service agreements good or bad? This one is through Ultimate Warranty Corp.
One trick I learned!!! And I forgot to tell you this.....
Have your bank cut the check about 500 lower then the agreed upon price of the car.........
Then tell the salesman that the bank would only let you have this much for that car (due to your credit and the car)......bring the check with you and show it to them...........
(having your extra 500 in your pocket just incase they say no)
They were great when my husband went, But I was a little pissed when I tried to go trade in my van, the next time I try to trade in a vehicle I will definately make sure I find out how much they will give me for that before I let them spend an hour showing me something else. he went through everything on the vue with me and then I found out they would only give me $3,000 for the van, Ya right!
This one takes time and you could get kicked off the lot......but I've heard it works.......
You bring your trade in and find one of the most expensive cars (I hope you want a cheaper car) in the lot. Then ask how much you can get for trade in on it........(ask for the trade-in value get it in writing)telling them you want to look at some other lots for the same car........
Â
Then go back the next day and find the cheaper car that you want to buy.....then haggle a price. They will want to know if you want to trade in your car...tell them no at first. Get the set price...as for that in writing.
Then you pull out the "trade in value" of your car that you got in writing for the prior day.
Well I just picked up my new car just now. Only a week later. The bumper looks to be OK but I haven't seen it in the light yet or with it cleaned from the rain storm the other morning. It turns out that he said Maaco was doing it but when I checked with the Maaco that does their stuff, they didn't know of my car. I confronted my salesman and he said that the guy used to work for them and now does jobs on the side. This was something I paid extra for and it took 4 days because of his screw up.
They didn't give me the oil change certificate or fix the hanging trunk fabric. I did have them go to the gas station with me to fill it up like they promised. All-in-all I'm glad I finally have the thing.Â
These little things aren't that big of a deal anyway, it's just that when someone promises you something then doesn't keep that promise, you tend to get a little irritated.
too bad you weren't able to get all those little "extras" written down on paper with the salesmans signature and date. At least then you would have something to show to the other idiots that work there and might support your case.
What did you finally end up getting? the caddy or the daewoo?
THX - 1138...it worked for me. And I don't have a mac. Hehehehe
Dang it!
That's really bugging me.
Â
Yes, it is.
Smartie pants!
. She converted her Minneapolitan husband into a true St. Paul medallion hunter.
Heh Heh
Never did get our car back.
I'm gonna go buy a minivan today.
::sigh::
I never thought I'd say it.......but I like mine.
Â
(I was very tempted just to say.....see pansies in the shed now this)

I've driven my Dad's quite a bit, and I like it ok.
With three kids with bunches of friends always hanging out, we HAD to get something bigger than our Honda Civic anyway.
I just didn't plan on spending the money now. :-(
I'd much rather spend it on redoing the attic or something else around the house.

That's it, get the hell out of here!
One of my sisters was up from MO this week, and I was showing off my shed to her, and she said it was "Cute".
That hurt.

Got ourselves a van.
2002 Chrysler Town & Country.
I like it, but it sure sucks HAVING to buy a new vehicle.
Hahaha.... then you can celebrate having your Durango, by drinking Durango Tequila, when you get home.
We love our Durango :)
but do wish we had 2 vehicles
Â
Durango JOE :)
I wouldn't ever own an SUV again.
Not that I don't like them. They're just overpriced.
You can get a 99 to 2002 for about 17,000 not bad for a V 8
No offense, but I'd call that overpriced, just because of what it sold @ new.
The car companies are raking in the money on SUV's. They're actually cheaper to make than most vehicles, but they make as much as 30% profit on them.
You can with a pickup truck though.
what color is the van ....does it match the girlie flowers???
It's White.
Not my first pick, but I got a good price.

At least on my van is that you can't open the driver side back sliding door when the gas door is open.......
I know its a dumb thing to bring up...but I thought it was a cool thing....

I don't know why Saturn doesn't go into the used car business to set themselves apart.
The one we went to sells used cars. gordy traded in his truck for an ion and they sold his truck on their lot.
Yeah, I knew they sold their trade-ins but I want to find one that sells only used cars. How were they to deal with?
