"But Bush held only a three-point advantage among all registered voters, down from seven points in a Post-ABC News survey conducted before the debate."

Somebody is wrong on that one.  PollingReport.com has the ABC poll for registered voters at 50-Bush, 45-Kerry for a difference of 5 points.  That is only 2 points different than before the debates and well within the MOE of +-3.

Chirac warns of 'catastrophe' of world 'choked' by US values

8 OCTOBER 2004

HANOI, Oct 7 (AFP) - French President Jacques Chirac warned Thursday of a "catastrophe" for global diversity if the United States' cultural hegemony goes unchallenged.

Speaking at a French cultural centre in Hanoi ahead of Friday's opening of a summit of European and Asian leaders, Chirac said France was right to stand up for cultural and linguistic diversity.

The outspoken French president warned that the world's different cultures could be "choked" by US values.

This, he said, would lead to a "general world sub-culture" based around the English language, which would be "a real ecological catastrophe".

Citing Hollywood's stranglehold over the film industry as an example, Chirac stressed that only with government assistance could countries maintain their cultural heritage.

Vietnam is a former French colony, but only around 375,000 of its 81 million people speak French. English is considered by most people a far more valuable and practical second language, particularly among businessmen.

Chirac calls for lifting arms ban on China

Paris, France, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- French President Jacques Chirac is calling on the European Union to lift a long-standing arms embargo against China.

"France supports lifting the embargo," Chirac said in an interview with China's official news agency, Xinhua, adding it no longer reflected present day realities.

Meaning Well we're not getting any more coin in the oil for palaces scam and we can't sell any more weapons to Saddam so I guess we'll have to find a new market. Great idea. Thanks Jaques.

Unfortunately, he might become a hero to some of the 'scared' nations not willing to say boo to us.

Michael Moore Prepares For 8-Minute Hunger Strike

10/11/2004 - Matt Myford

Rotund documentary filmmaker Michael Moore will conduct an eight minute hunger strike next week, sources said yesterday.
Moore will attempt to abstain from food for close to ten minutes, which would smash his previous record of six minutes and eighteen seconds.

The hunger strike is a protest of President Bush's foreign policy, Moore said. Moore's personal physician, Dr. Andrew Ulrach, will monitor Moore's "upper northeast sector," while a team of nine other physicians will be responsible for various other places about Moore's massive frame.

"840 seconds is a helluva long time for Mr. Moore to go without food," Dr. Ulrach said. "The danger zone will be at the 7-minute mark...if Mike starts to look pale, I'll step in and end this nonsense."

Oh my God those Greens are scary. His platform is the closing of most of the military bases across the country and a carbon tax on everything made from fossil fuels.

No wonder no one takes these wackos seriously.

Anti-Bush Political Flyer Draws Wrath of Special Olympics

Susan Jones
CNSNews.com
October 14, 2004

Leaders of the Special Olympics say they are "astounded and appalled" by an anti-Bush political flyer being distributed in Tennessee.

It shows the head of President Bush superimposed on the body of a Special Olympics athlete; and it reads, "Even if you win, you're still retarded."

"We see this communication as an egregious, gratuitous insult to our almost 2 million athletes in over 150 countries around the world and a stunning affront to the more than 200 million people in the world who have intellectual disabilities," said Timothy Shriver, Special Olympics chairman and CEO in a statement.

"We cringe at the thought that any one of these capable and courageous athletes would ever have to endure the agony, embarrassment, pain and suffering that this flyer would certainly cause."

The Special Olympics said it hopes the people responsible for the "outrageous political advertisement" would come forward and "explain to the people of Tennessee and everywhere else why they would choose to denigrate the spirit, courage, and accomplishments of the Special Olympics athletes."

That guy is a complete and total turd.

VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY CHASTISES SEN. KERRY'S REFERENCE TO HIS DAUGHTER'S SEXUALITY

CHENEY IN FT. MYERS, FL:"You saw a man who will say and do anything in order to get elected. And I am not speaking just as a father here, though I am a pretty angry father, but as a citizen."

ELIZABETH EDWARDS ACCUSES LYNNE CHENEY OF "SHAME" OF HER DAUGHTER:
"She's overreacted to this and treated it as if it's shameful to have this discussion. I think that's a very sad state of affairs... I think that it indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences... It makes me really sad that that's Lynne's response."

A) Liz, you don't know if hse has any shame because you're not her and B) Because it's none of your damn business.

LYNNE CHENEY AT POST-DEBATE RALLY:
"The only thing I could conclude is that this is not a good man. This is not a good man. And, of course, I'm speaking as a mom. And a pretty indignant one. This is not a good man. What a cheap and tawdry political trick."

DICK CHENEY TO NBC AFFILIATE WHO:"I would have said Sen. Kerry was out of line to bring my daughter into it. I thought it was totally inappropriate."

Kerry's campaign director Mary Beth Cahill said she was fair game. Fair game? I guess the unwritten rule about leaving their kids out of it is off the table, then again what can you expect from these people.

WHAT KERRY SAID:
"And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as."

KERRY CAMPAIGN:Senior Kerry aide acknowledges "it was not his best moment," but calls charges that it was inappropriate "ridiculous... The woman is in her thirties. She's public about her sexuality. It was brought up in the last debate. So, what the hell?" ABC News' Marc Ambinder reports...

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/NotedNow/story?id=156246

Well at least he didn't say she was retarded too. What a class group of people.

Everyone wants to speak for Cheney's daughter . I wonder if she cares at all.

Victimize?

"All Kerry did was invoke the veep's daughter to point out that obviously homosexuality isn't a choice, in any meaningful sense. The only way you can believe that citing Mary Cheney amounts to "victimization" is if you believe someone's sexual orientation is something shameful. Well, it isn't. What's revealing is that this truly does expose the homophobia of so many - even in the mildest "we'll-tolerate-you-but-shut-up-and-don't-complain" form."
