Maybe the 954 is crossstitched on the hoop thing.

The other thing that is stretched, tight and white might be artist canvas.

How does the St. Francis thing fit into Conway or Linwood?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:40 PM Permalink
Terry

It doesn't at Conway. St Francis church can be seen from Linwood.

Do you all see the St. Francis in the clues?

Miss V- maybe hunting tomorrow after work- depends on the clue and what kind of day I have. Have you heard from eags or is she still searching?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:42 PM Permalink
Terry

Eags is around somewhere. Maybe snoozing and getting ready for the next clue.

Do you guys think that st francis is just a coincidence? Has the first letter of every clue meant something in all earlier hunts?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:42 PM Permalink

St. Francis fits into Linwood, Highland, and what else?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:43 PM Permalink

No but that could be the new part ... i think it is yet another clue to the park

I don't know about in all the previous hunts, but in many - yes!

st.francis is close to linwood

It has been important. The year it was in BC it spelled it out

I don't believe in St. Francis or his dancing reindeer. But seriously, Terry Valentine, I like your thinking but I wonder if a drum, embroidery, or canvas would be

considered covering per se. On a softball it is the covering that is round, white, and stretched tight. I don't know if you can say that about the others.

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:44 PM Permalink
Winnie Bago

What did it spell?

Hi youall, I think nine is a address all by itself, I think five is the same, anyone agree

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:45 PM Permalink

It spelled Battle Creek

Grandma--the first letters of each clue are rearranged and spell St. Francis

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:45 PM Permalink
Dave

Or Saint Francis, if they keep it up!

I don't see St. Francis--well, I saw the Saint, but not Francis. How was SF supposed tp fit at Highland? i was out there today and didn't see any transluscent peak.

The softball thing is spherical though...round yes...but round can also be flat. Who knows? Do you suppose if a person digs up anything but snow, they'll look? I just

find noodling what it's in kind of fun. I was right the year of the broken record at Newell. Otherwise I'm often in left field without a clue.

And last year...that Old Navy baby sock was a total surprise!

I haven't been out during the day yesterday or today, have there been a lot of people out?? we dug last night at the capitol until about 1:30... No luck though... I

think I give up... I am to tired to go out tonight and have to be to work way to early tomorrow... next year going to take time off from work, so I can look during the

day...

As for St. Francis, it relies on St. Francis being as anagram. Its one thing to spell something out with one letter at a time, but it seems highly unfair to expect someone

to complete an anagram until they have all the letters, and by the time the last clue comes out with all the letters, you'll already know where it is. I think its just a

coincidence.

Freshmen...thanks hope I get out there again soon...until then I am an armchair hunter.

The web crossing has been off - once every little while tonight. Hope it doesn't go down for long periods of time.

You're welcome! I try to help

Looking back...there was one year the first letters of the clues spelled out Battle Creek. The next year they said something like Como Park Its Not. I think those are

the only times the first letters of the clues have meant anything.

Maybe they're trying to throw us off so they don't have to give away $10,000

freshmen, yes I do get web-crossing....I'm very new at this and I thought I was doing something wrong, also I have to login every time I write a message or change

pages is that normal?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:57 PM Permalink

As for what it is hidden in, I'm not that worried about it. If I dug up a really big piece of dog doo-doo, I'd probably check it out as I would with anything aside from

snow. I know the past two years the clues haven't even really bothered with it either. They claimed last year Annapolis was supposed to suggest Navy, but since

Annapolis was a critical street there was no reason to believe it had a double meaning. And even if you got that much out of it, how you would get from there to an

Old Navy sock would require nothing less than ESP. The year before they also skimped by using Bandana Square as having a double meaning with the bandana it

was wrapped in. If they did devote a clue, or even half a clue to it, its almost a waste of clue because it doesn't really make it any easier to find anyway.

Does anyone know what another name for tree's in a line is?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 8:58 PM Permalink
Terry

Grandma...if you hit the first number...as in 13909 or 13910...click the 13909...it will refresh the page and bring up any new posts. That should help you avoid

having to login everytime.

Sometimes after the webcrossing is down, you do need to login again...but not always.

On the internet at the anangram site where you type in words or letters and let it find the anagram for you the only thing it comes up with is FRAN SIS - SANS FIR,

that is with the first letter of each clue

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 9:05 PM Permalink

4.95, that's the cost of a good paperback isn't it?

Trees in a line are also called a "wind-row" as in wind break.
