1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Are you sure about that address IC Stars? There is a 459 on Ruth St. The address on Conway and Wilson are in the 2000's. 954 isn't really an appropriate address

for that area.

There are three peaks visable from the capital mall, the capital, the cathedral and St. Paul Companies. Flying down the hill, howabout in a car down John

Ireland....thoughts??

I think the clue tonight will reference something like the words streak, stir, silver or crazy. Does anyone see where I'm going?

The clue said a PEAK not a dome...they have used dome reference for cathederal, capital, etc... in the past... :)

The medallion was not found because the medallion is not in Newell Park.

I too attend St. Mark's. The steeple is lit during the Christmas season. I don't know that it would qualify as translucent.

When the medallion is found, the PP will post it as a header to all of these pages, not as an individual message.

The St. Paul Companies building is clearly a translucent peak. Peak is the key word.

I guess I was wrong about the steeple. It wasn't lit tonight, but my hubby says it sometimes is and that it sort of glows. I guess I'm not very observant most of the

time. For those of you who don't know what I mean, I'm talking about Merriam Park.

I saw the 459 and made a rather thin line from the sidewalk to the hockey rink. No luck. Then I took that line and intersected it where the two peaks of SunRay

appear as one and did a fairly major archeological expedition there, but still no luck. I can't get away from the address idea, but it still really bothers me that it would

be so obvious and so precise.

Allison you young whippersnapper, I have been at this party for three years (which is more than any of you can say). Plus, I wouldn't be caught dead drinking

festered grain (or beer as you call it). Though it did bring me fame once.

u guys are getting a little to deatailed with the addres i think...clues from that early in the hunt have to fit a lot of parks...954 is players on a baseball, basketball, and

tennis

Yeah, what's that Mississippi thing about?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 10:16 PM Permalink

There is a sledding area at Conway. Its not obvious to see from where most people are digging, but there is a relatively steep hill at the far east end and both days I

have been out there I have seen kids sledding.

Pat P: You still here? I was realy into the Newell theories. So much of it worked for me, until last night's clue. Were you really laughing at us? I was just sure that you

disappeared after the WELL/NEW clue, and were probably in a catatonic state in Newell Park, saying, "Finally! Yes, finally!"

Are you going out when Clue #9 is posted?

Jennifer Olson...Really are you my neice? I have a neice named Jennifer Olson, althought that is a common name...is your dads name Richard?

I believe adorns the front door means the numbers will appear at the front of the park...the doorway to the park if you will...not necessarily that it will actually appear

on the front door... :)

The St. Paul Companies building is visible from most any place that you can see the downtown skyline. It is the building with the glowing translucent peak (or

pyramid).

I think the 954 are 9 innings, or players on a team...5 in a full count, and 4 bases
