Nothing

I think it more appropiate to say I believe i know nothing at all.

Saying "I know nothing" is implicaive of knowing something.  That something being that you know nothing.

I understand your point, just your language, I believe, needs to be adjusted

You believe you understand his point.  But you can't know it.  Just like I believe this debate could go on and on.  I just don't know it.

understanding and knowing are too different things.

there is no implication of knowing if one understands

I love Hunter S, Thompson. We named a cat after him.

It sounds more like the stream of consciousness in James Joyce's Ulysses. It also makes about as much sense.

Informaion is not knowledge
Knowledge is not wisdom
Wisdom is not truth
Truth is not beauty
Beauty is not love
Love is not music
Music is the best

Wisdom is the domain of the Wis,
(which is extinct)
Beauty is a French, phonetic corruption
of a short cloth neck ornament
Currently in resurgence

You're just too dishonest to have a normal conversation.

or too learn'd to have a conversation with someone who has no idea what the fuck I am talking about

Fri, 08/13/2004 - 6:10 PM Permalink
THX 1138

I know what you're talking about.

It's irrelevant to the conversation we were having.

You're just skirting the issue that Jethro is more educated than you.

You started off as a pompous ass, and you continue...

Just admit you were arrogant and wrong.

You're just skirting the issue that Jethro is more educated than you.

He may very well be, but no one knows that for sure

You started off as a pompous ass, and you continue...

Just admit you were arrogant and wrong.

Well, the former part of your latter statement is spot on

He may very well be, but no one knows that for sure

I gotta admit, that made me laugh.

Now goodnight.

I'm off to the cabin with the family early tomorrow, so I've got things to do.

Yeah, that was funny.

Hahaha

It took you three months to come up with that gem?

No, actually it took only a minute...

Really? Cuz Grandpa Dan posted that in August.

It just took you a couple days to come up with a retort.

It did?

I responded within a few hours.

WASHINGTON  Â— The father of a teen who died after taking an abortion pill says new safety warnings added by the government aren't enough to protect women. Because a third death now has been linked to RU-486, the Food and Drug Administration should bar sales of the abortion pill, said the grieving father.

Besides, I thought the pro-aborts insisted on being referred to as pro-choice. But how can they maintain a shred of intellectual honesty in this matter when they want to force unwilling institutions to provide abortions? Keep in mind that for the most part we're not talking about health issues here, but elective abortions.

Interesting piece, Jethro. Two statements stand out:

Have you noticed the recurring modus operandi of liberal activists these days of trying to radically change the status quo and then painting those fighting to retain it as the agitators? Or better yet, as the "dividers of the country."

And this one:

Liberal bullies like Senator Feinstein call measures to curtail their egregious abuses of poweras egregious abuses of power.

Yes, Bill, there are illogical wackos on both sides. I guess I just see more of the liberal types. But I don't go to places like Free Republic. I hate that stuff no matter who does it.

Well, I wouldn't call the WaPo, NY or LA Times as bastions of objectivity, but they all do have good individual reporters. AP and Reuters aren't objective, either. But you're right, looking for the same story in several places can give you better perspective as well as more detail. I watch Fox News, but I also look for alternative reporting on the big stories.

Well, first of all there was this story:

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:City w:st="on">WEST ALLIS
</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Wis.
</st1:State>

</st1:place>- President Bush (news - web sites) on Friday wished Bill Clinton (news - web sites) "best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery." "He's is in our thoughts and prayers," Bush said at a campaign rally. Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them.Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in
<st1:State w:st="on">
<st1:place w:st="on">New York
</st1:place>
</st1:State>.
<st1:City w:st="on">Clinton
</st1:City> was hospitalized in
<st1:State w:st="on">
<st1:place w:st="on">New York
</st1:place>
</st1:State> after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath. Bush recently praised
<st1:City w:st="on">
<st1:place w:st="on">Clinton
</st1:place>
</st1:City> when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded
<st1:City w:st="on">
<st1:place w:st="on">Clinton
</st1:place>
</st1:City> for his knowledge, compassion and "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."

As one commentator wrote:

Note that the AP didn't say "there were scattered boos" (there weren't) or even "one guy booed." The AP reported, falsely, that "Bush's audience of thousands in
<st1:place w:st="on">
<st1:City w:st="on">West Allis
</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Wis.
</st1:State>
</st1:place>, booed." That isn't spin; it's a flat-out lie. And the AP writer added the malicious embellishment that Bush did nothing to stop the (nonexistent) booing.

I don't know exactly.

Somehow you're copying the HTML/XML instead of just the text.

That one's a mess. I'm not gonna try to fix that one.

You could give me the link and I could try to post it.

Maybe 59 percent are saying they're tired of the culture war. They've seen enough anger, unrest and mayhem and they're not interested in busting open another hornet's nest.

Sadie said she couldn't work out
 What it was all about
 And so she let go
 Now Sadie's on the street
 And the people she meets you know
 She tried to be a good girl and a good wife
 Raise a good family
 Lead a good life
 It's not good enough
 She got herself up on the 48th floor
 Gotta find out
 Find out what she's living for

Surrender, Surrender
 Surrender, Surrender
