1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Hi there, Eitsaeb. No luck. I still think we might have been in the right spot. But I've got my doubts. Maybe this clue will clear it up.

the medallion has got to be at Conway. how badly has that park been dug up i heard there was like 200 people there. any truth to that?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 10:19 PM Permalink

that is what we thought last night, dug for quite awhile downtown, also thinking that iconclast someone who goes against beliefs could be referring to Jesse but that

depends on when they wrote the clues..

Jennifer...don't be sorry, have you tried looking in the park that is between the history center, the vo-tech and the catherdal? I've been there on and off since Friday

and everything still seem to fit.

If SPC is Saint Paul Cathedral/Capital, the answer is no, they are not visible from Conway, but there are more than sufficient other translucent peaks.

It's looking like all of the parks have been dug up, which still leaves our very "undugup" spot. It's too big of an area to cover with just one or two people. We'd need

another week.

I am a hunter who is always at the park before it is found and quite expierenced as well. Mississpi River boulevard is where you can see all these things you people

are talking about. right where they are "blasting" a new civic center and down from the ramsey county jail and across from the old pioneer press dispatch site

nope, i don't go to the U of M. I'm not really a freshman, I'm a sophomore. don't ask where I got the name

Grandma..just came in from the Mall area. Looked all over. Found two mysteries metal stakes in the snow, about 10 feet apart. Very odd. Can't imagine that they

are there in the summer. Tome..I though of Sherlock homes.. and that led me to the Book about the ice palace murder book that just came out. Know where the Ice

palace was in this book...just off the mall on Columbus and Central Park. Points right to the mall. It's a long shot.

st. francis fits in with Highland Park for sure. Others...I don't know

I don't think I saw more than 100 people there at any one time (at Conway). One of the softball fields is an ice rink right now. Two of the other fields were pretty

well dug up. The fourth field, when I left this afternoon, was hardly touched for some reason. The playground is well dug up, but the hills are not, probably because

clue #2 suggested that we stay away from the action, which was assumed to be the sledding.

I like your idea Mushie (I think it was yours) that 954 is a number on the park entrance. It seems to create the fewest contradictions. But has anyone seen such a

thing. I didn't see it at Conway, though maybe I didn't look in the right place.
