Three weeks and the kid in Guatemala will be home for a whole week and a half!!!!! We celebrated by driving north with Christmas music blaring all the way up! Christmas cannot get here fast enough!Â
Way cooler about the screening. Do we know the price of the DVDs yet? I'll want several to give as gifts and for my collection.
Sorry about the job loss 3m. The one thing to keep in mind, however, is that often once you get through the struggle of finding new work, the new job is often more fulfilling and hopefully pays better.
ESD - You go get 'em!
LL - How's the house selling thing going?
Artemis - Congrats on owning your own place! Sorry that all the bad stuff happened.Â
We received an email from the Peace Corps son yesterday. He had his wallet lifted, went home to find his plumbing had again been wrecked, got sick from something eaten and spent 8 1/2 hours on a chicken bus being sick to get to some meeting in Guatemala City. All this and he's being asked to extend his time there. Quite an honor actually to be asked. So what do you suppose this kid who gets food poisoning at least monthly, has "stuff" growing out of the walls in his house, gets threatened by packs of wild dogs regularly, and has grown accustomed to seeing dead people is going to say about that!?!?! He doesn't know. Guess that means he's either:
A)Â Crazy
B)Â Nuts
C)Â Brainwashed
D)Â Happy and out of his mind
He has a few months to decide and hasn't heard the full offer yet. I guess he'll have to figure out this all for himself. I do know he's happy there.  Feels like he's making a difference and I believe, proud of himself for surviving.Â
nothing new on the house yet, I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever get out of here. If I were your son I'd get the hell out of there! All that has to take it's toll on a person.
looking for a poster, or something to advertise the screening. i can probably even have it put placed in the metropolitan state's newsletter (i know the online editor)
Worked for 9 hours to get up all my Christmas lights yesterday and finished about 9:30 last night. Went to bed about 10:30 and by 7 am somebody ripped of 2 of my statues! Green Elves about 2 ft high. Pretty sad I tell ya! Worst part is I was going to replace them today by buying new ones and it seems nobody carries them any more. At least not menards, fleet farm or k-mart. Walmart on line don't have them either. Nothing like it on e-bay either. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places? If any one knows where I can buy some let me know! Thanks.
3m- that does suck. I wonder if Seasonal Concepts, Walgreens, Snyders or a local hardware store might stock those.
In the mid 80s we started doing some lights on the front of the house. At the time we had some 13 year old gang wannabes in the neighborhood. That year there mission was to go steal as many bulbs off a house, bushes, trees in the neighborhood that they possibly could. Several people, including our house, were hit pretty hard. The next year we tried again. The third year we just forgot the whole thing. Too much money going out in replacement bulbs or strings to keep up with the nonsense.
Darn near 20 years later and we've done lights two years in a row without incident.Â
Nice lights 3M! I usually do a pretty big lighting myself but I just don't have the spirit that I used to have. I started putting them up this year and got frustrated within 1 hour of untangling and hunting for shorted bulbs. I'm sure I'll still have a decent display, but it'll take awhile longer and never look as good as yours. Despite the missing elves.
That year there mission was to go steal as many bulbs off a house, bushes, trees in the neighborhood that they possibly could.
They're a little better in our area. They only steal one bulb from each strand to get you scratching your head. It's been going on for some time now, so needless to say I have tons of extra bulbs on hand now. I will say that if I ever catch the dip-shits messing with my stuff, they can be guaranteed a very non-merry Christmas.
Glad to see everyone is still alive and kickin....
I still am too...
Havent been able to get on much lately, because Mr. Computer (when Im nice to him, and pay him compliments, he works better), is very sick and has a virus of some sorts..
I got my button already.. which has to be a personal record, on the fastest/soonest ive gotten one.... cool stuff.
We don't decorate the out side of our house for Christmas, the little hood's can't even leave our garden statues alone. Maybe next year after we move to the sticks=)
4 years ago I was trying to get a satelite dish put up and the installer wanted to put it in our front yard I just laughed and said it would walk away within a day on the East Side LOL what a dumpy NeighborHOOD.
We lived on the east side for almost 7 years (just moved this summer, to the sticks haha) and although you're right it is kind of dumpy, I've gotta admit that we never had any major trouble. Never had anything stolen, vandalized or anything like that. But I really don't miss the heavy, fast traffic on the residential streets, the constant sirens, and the general sense that something might happen to you.
I think I mentioned a few days ago that someone tried to break in to my neighbors house - didn't get in though but messed up his garage door and another door.
Well, a couple of days ago someone stole a different neighbors truck! at 10 am! Mark and I were in our kitchen at 10 am that day. Our truck was only 200 yards from the truck that was taken. geeesh!

Thats just cruel...

Thanks TV! I'll try them out.
Despite the missing elves
They are in the picture by santa under the peace sign between the spiral trees
I've got icicle lights on the gutters of the house, and some blue net mini-lights on the bushes. Kind of a minimalist approach.
I started the same way and pretty soon my neighbor got more and then I got more and the war was on. Now we are both decked out! I really like those net lights. 1st time with them this year.
We don't decorate the out side of our house for Christmas, the little hood's can't even leave our garden statues alone.
Those net lights are cool but you need to think of where you're going to put them to determine what color wire you will need. Putting a white wire net on a green bush looks bad during the day and so does a green net used over a leafless tree or bush. I have the large triangle net lights that work perfectly for the outside of our tree. 2 of them covers both sides. I still use regular musical lights to fill in the middle of the tree tho. A couple of years ago I went with my bro and his son to WCCO where he had a live in-studio interview with the morning crew about his display. It was pretty cool hanging out. My nephew and I were making faces at the weather guy as he was looking over at the monitor off camera. He laughed afterwards.Â
Mrs. Frosti said she was glad that the fuse blew. She told me "I don't know how many times I woke up last night, looked at the window and thought it was morning!"

I like that about the city. We got a street light right in front of our house.
I go to the cabin and I can't sleep. It's just too dark and quiet.
Now, don't tell anyone this, but I use a nightlight when I'm up there.

HOW COOL ARE YOU?

Â
(its the guy across the road...laughing his ass off at you!)
Damn, I failed another test :(
It was like they knew me personally or something. Very interesting on how accurate it is.
Oh, and to compliment their findings ---Joe

That's a shame!
I like those net lights too. They look nice and they're quick and easy (once you get them untangled, that is).

Confusing the heck outta me...but is kinda cool.
Came home, my icicle lights have blown a fuse. And the kids had swimming lessons tonight, so now it's too dark to go out and dick with it. Sigh.
so now it's too dark to go out and dick with it. Sigh.
Don't you hate that! And it seems you never get home from work in time for daylight at this time of year.
Very Cooler! Thanks for the link Kitch.Â

One day a week.
That's it?!?
Looser
Day light makes me forget what time of day it is.
Mrs. Frosti said she was glad that the fuse blew. She told me "I don't know how many times I woke up last night, looked at the window and thought it was morning!"
Hi OTS! I just love that picture!

I also turn the ceiling fan on for noise.
I see daylight, don't you Kitch and OTS?
What, you guys work nights?
I wouldn't mind that. I'm actually more of a night person.
