It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

o.k. but,in the past they don't just mention a specific item without it being relevant a golf course is apretty big thing to shrug off.
I don't like the sports interpretaion in general for 9,5,4 because it just leaves the "adorns the front door" hanging without explanation. I have pretty the same problem
with the KS95 explanation. For the I-94/5 explanation, the four doesn't seem obscure enough and I really believe they would have said something to the effect of
look between a 9, 5, and 4. I don't even like the address theory that much because it seems just too specific. So I have a ton of theories available to me, but I don't
I'm wondering how Newell is being eliminated too. I've been out there every night since Tuesday and although a tough dig, I still believe it's there. Let's just stop and
look at a few of the forgotten newel clues:
1) It's in St. Paul 2) There's a sledding hill there. 3) 9, 5 and somewhere a 4. Nine players on a baseball team (baseball field in Newell) Five players on a basketball
team (basketball courts in Newell) Four tennis players, playing singles in two individual tennis courts in Clayland park, directly across the street from Newell)~hence
somewhere a four. 4) Several deep quarries full of rocks at Newell, including a couple of kids, sit down digging shovels in the sand (also considered a quarry) 5)
Volleyball court at Newell (a volleyball net is white and stretched tight. A volley ball is round) 6) Pierce Butler street on the park's north end. Pierce Butler was a
famous radical in the senate (one definition of Iconoclast is a radical) Pierce is in several large books and has created quite a stir. 7) A tome can be a large scholarly
book, but another meaning is a record. When the medallion was hidden at Newell in 1984, it was attached to a broken 45rpm record. (also~a stretch is 45rpm, a
four and a five) 8) There is a peak at the top of the childrens playground, while not always appearing to be translucent, a flash light test has proven that light most
definitely shines through it and has the ability to cast vague images.
There are several other clues some of which are vague, some of which I will keep stashed in my own secret clue satchell, but really....it's as good as anything. I
believe the abandonment comes from mere "giving up"
-just my thoughts.....if there are really good arguments for other places and someone wouldn't mind sharing, please dump the info for me, thank you.
Lifelong...I believe todays clue only references what it will be hidden IN...round and white and stretched tight....then the Peak can be seen from the park...does not
by HP there's a little church or something with a see through peak. I drove by there today and saw it. home plates in every park are pretty much all dug up.
The first clue says "A park is the spot but a golf course is not, So please don't disturb a fairway or green. Follow this advice and you won't be caught, Wasting your
The only "tome" connections I see are Kipling and Longfellow streets near BC. Or there is a Merriam dictionary or encyclopedia, I think. The "tome" bit is what's
yeah...the old as well as the New, Newell clue, I forgot that up there....anyways, thats not the KS95 tower as everyone seems to think, it's a communications array
for Capitol Communications, drive over next to it and look for yourselves.
shovel master - you go and dig your damn heart out - I really don't give a sh*t about you or anyone else on this site - I want all the money for myself!! - So Screw
hey bill king... i saw the "translucent peak" at highland.. it was at night too... was the first thing i asked my hunting partner too... i said hey look at that light way up
there... and it's in a perfect line with those (sorry cant tell everyone)..... and this was hours before clue #8 came out too...
Allison, there is also 4 periods in hockey. I was checking out the front door of the rec center, but there is absolutely nothing there. Its a real puzzler this year. I've
been able to get real close for 20 years now, but this one is the hardest yet. Hats off to the person who did this one...
If you go to almost ANY park you can find answers for those clues. We went to Palace park today because of the st francias connection. A lot of it made sence,
Allison, one of the reasons I liked Merriam for a while is that the sports explanations worked for that park as well as the door adorning. Office hours were posted on
the door as 9-5 and 8-4. Plus I-94 borders the park. This type of explanation may work elsewhere as well (or it could be brain vapor). Merriam is heavily damaged
I saw it too Barton, guess well have to hook up later tonight--what are you going to be wearing--ill have Vikings jacket, wife will have Gophers jacket--both with
Let me repost my interpretation of Clue #1 It is hidden in a park. It is not on a golf course. Said park may or may not be associated with a golf course, but since
we're making these clues so vague, and we know you won't know where to look, just do us a favor and don't tear up the golf courses like you usually do.
ashlee - This is the superstar! A couple of people have been leaning toward Conway but I haven't been out their so I can't say! I really am stumped! Where do you
Since this keeps getting talked about... Think of how early the clue containing 9,4, and 5 appeared. In my experience searching for the medallion it would be far too
early to give landmarks inside a park to denote the location of the medallion, but rather to lead you in the direction of the park. Think of major roads/highways with
Will you people please wake up and smell the coffee!!??!! It does NOT say IN a park! It says a park is the spot!! there is a park street or how bout a park(ing)
sign?!! I am trying to go against tradition . you could call me an iconoclast!!!!!!!!!!!
o.k. but,in the past they don't just mention a specific item without it being relevant a golf course is apretty big thing to shrug off.
Translucent can have a simple meaning also--doesnt have to be a tower... could be as simple as a streetlight all
ok, just wondering. i don't remember any clues that said not on a golf course...then again I don't have the best memory
its in a baseball
Bill King....how does the translucent peak clue fit into HP???
I think the golf course clue is simply to keep people OFF of them. Didn't Hightland golf course get torn up a few years back?
There is no way in hell that the 9, 5, 4 thing relates to players in sports. Because that would narrow 3% of the St. Paul parks.
A nine and a five and somewhere a four:
Nine players on a baseball team......Five on a basketball or hockey....and some people go to their local playground or park just to hit golfballs.
I don't like the sports interpretaion in general for 9,5,4 because it just leaves the "adorns the front door" hanging without explanation. I have pretty the same problem

like any of them really.
1998's "Shovel Boy"

brewdog - Why is 4 midway? I don't think it's their!
Lifelong...I believe todays clue only references what it will be hidden IN...round and white and stretched tight....then the Peak can be seen from the park...does not
take away the KS95 theory ... ? :0
by HP there's a little church or something with a see through peak. I drove by there today and saw it. home plates in every park are pretty much all dug up.
by peak, they mean a pointy thing, right?
The only "tome" connections I see are Kipling and Longfellow streets near BC, or there is a Merriam dictionary or encyclopedia, I think.

time at the wrong scene"

keeping me looking at a map instead of a shovel.
1998's "Shovel Boy"

shovel master - you go and dig your damn heart out - I really don't give a sh*t about you or anyone else on this site - I want all the money for myself!! - So Screw

still think newell, its been a long time
I just can't shrug off this golf course thing . they wouldn't put it in there if it didn't pertain......
Allison, there is also 4 periods in hockey. I was checking out the front door of the rec center, but there is absolutely nothing there. Its a real puzzler this year. I've
been able to get real close for 20 years now, but this one is the hardest yet. Hats off to the person who did this one...
Its not at hillcrest freshman and SUPERSTAR, grow up--im on a chair--not ASHLEE
Zebo... a quarry can also be something sought after...not just sand or rock etc.... get it? :)
Jaques - I'd like to believe BC (It's closest to me). If Kipling and Longfellow are the tomes, what's the peak? And what's the 954?
ShovelMaster,
If you go to almost ANY park you can find answers for those clues. We went to Palace park today because of the st francias connection. A lot of it made sence,
and there were people digging there.
This is really driving me nutz!!!!
15 minutes start the car up

the door as 9-5 and 8-4. Plus I-94 borders the park. This type of explanation may work elsewhere as well (or it could be brain vapor). Merriam is heavily damaged
by the peak clue, though. Oh well.
Hey BArt, Super, and Bill, I'm getting ready to head out there! :)
20 minutes till show time!!!!!!
I saw it too Barton, guess well have to hook up later tonight--what are you going to be wearing--ill have Vikings jacket, wife will have Gophers jacket--both with
white armbands
The clues dont fit just any park....there is one

web crossing off crap is starting up again...what the hey?
But Bill King... how does a crest of a hill become glowing translucent? :)
Allison, HOCKEY has 3 periods... Sheesh! :) -ash
