I made a side trip to the Woodbury Gap on my way over to the daughter's in Cottage Grove to watch the game.  Left Gap when I remembered I was bringing the beer and the game was just about to start.  We scored our opening drive TD while I was driving down County Road 19.  So if anyone saw an OT in a white Jeep, pumping her arm in the air and honking her horn, that was me!!!!!  Fun game!!

Moss doesn't care what they say as long as they spell his name correctly.

I thought it was funny. Not the fake moon, but the way people are falling over themselves to get to a microphone to say how outraged they are.

It's the NFL forgodsake.

I'm with the Rat on this one. Yea O.K he's a punk but I didn't think it was that big of a deal. People act so suprised, It's Moss, it's the NFL.

I do have to say I was pleasantly suprised that they won. Knocking Green Bay out at home was cool.

It's the only game I watched this year. I don't remember if I watched one last year. I'm the ultimate fair-weather fan with the Vikings.

The way the Fox announcers carried on about it, you'd think he actually did pull down his pants.

And this is the Network that brings you "Who's Your Daddy?"

Fox Execs may have secretly been hoping for a Whole Lot More from Randy.

The outrage feigned is ridiculous.

From what I understand, it's a tradition in Green Bay that those classy Green Bay fans moon the opposing teams bus as it's leaving.

They're probably praying Randy does more.

Moss likely to be fined for pretend mooning
By DAVE GOLDBERG, AP Football Writer
January 10, 2005

NEW YORK (AP) -- Randy Moss is almost sure to be fined for pretending to moon fans in Green Bay during a playoff win, according to NFL rules.

The league is looking into the star receiver's antics in Minnesota's 31-17 win over the Packers on Sunday and will announce its ruling later this week.

When asked whether the oft-fined Moss would be penalized again, a league spokesman recited NFL rules mandating discipline for ``obscene gestures or other actions construed as being in poor taste.''

A fine for the first offense under those guidelines is $5,000. Moss has not previously been fined for such action, but paid a $25,000 penalty in 1999 for squirting an official with a water bottle.

In the last year, the NFL has dealt with a couple of highly publicized situations that many fans found objectionable. There was the Janet Jackson breast-baring episode during the halftime show of the Super Bowl in February and the steamy ``Monday Night Football'' introduction this season featuring Philadelphia receiver Terrell Owens and ``Desperate Housewives'' star Nicollette Sheridan.

On Sunday, Moss caught a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter and headed toward the goalpost. He then turned his back to the Lambeau Field crowd, bent over and pantomimed pulling down his pants.

``Just having a little fun with the boys,'' Moss told a Fox reporter as he left the field. ``I hope I don't get in trouble by it, but if I do I'll take the heat.''

Moss, making $5 million this season, declined comment Monday.

Vikings coach Mike Tice said he spoke Monday with Gene Upshaw, executive director of the players' association.

``The league has called me,'' Tice said. ``I didn't see it until last night.''

Tice added he always thought of Green Bay fans as having ``a tremendous amount of class'' but that he didn't think they acted that way Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said he saw Moss' action and, ``I thought it was kind of humorous.''

``It's not the kind of thing you want to see on national TV, but I understand what it was all about,'' he said.

``Anyone who has played in the NFC Central knows what that's about. The fans in Green Bay have a tradition in the parking lot after the game where they moon the visiting team's bus,'' he said. ``It's kind of a unique send-off.''

``I had seen it seven times because when I was with the Vikings, we lost to them seven times up there,'' he said.

Fox did not show a replay of Moss' display during the game.

``It was inappropriate to replay it in the context of the game,'' Fox spokesman Lou D'Ermilio said.

ESPN declined to show the replay Sunday because, ``in the end, we decided a conservative approach, taking a breath rather than rushing to air, would be prudent,'' spokesman Josh Krulewitz said.

Krulewitz said replays were to be shown Monday ``conservatively, based on the NFL's and the Vikings' reaction to it.''

Last month, Denver quarterback Jake Plummer was fined $5,000 for an obscene gesture.

Moss was originally fined $40,000 in 1999 for squirting an official, but it was reduced to $25,000 on appeal.

Moss verbally abused corporate sponsors on the team bus in 2001. That resulted in the team fining him $15,000 and forcing him to attend anger management classes.

In December of 2002, he was fined $1,200 by a judge after being charged with bumping a traffic officer with his car in downtown Minneapolis.

And last week, he was chewed out by teammates for leaving the field before the end of a loss in Washington. Center Matt Birk, one of the Vikings' leaders, confronted him and quarterback Daunte Culpepper also was upset.

Moss, his hair poofed out in a giant Afro, had four receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's game.

After Moss' second score and resulting show, Birk just shook his head and smiled.

``That's Randy,'' he said. ``You take the good with the bad.''

I hope they don't go into Philly and lay down now. I will cheer for them but have been disappointed every playoff year. It's like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I guess I don't understand how the league can fine someone when he wasn't even penalized for it on the ensuing kickoff.  It apparently wasn't wrong then, what makes it such a big deal now?  I laughed my ass off.  Had I been a GB fan I would have bitched and moaned as well.  That's the name of the game.  Even though I thought it was funny I did think he should have been penalized 15 yards for the action. I mean shit, look at the 'excess celebration' penalties that were issued this year. They were far less than what Moss did.  But none of them deserved to be fined. Including Moss'.  Philly has an objective outlook on the incident since they have their own spontaneous player to deal with as well.  They laughed it off as well and hoped that he won't get the chance to do something like that in their house but wouldn't bitch about it if it happened either.

As far as the Philly game goes - this will the first time in a long while that I won't be bummed out if we loose a playoff game since we're not supposed to even have a chance anyway.  It actually feels good not to care as much.  That's another reason why I think we'll pull it off.

As did we, CM!  Sounds as though if we combined our groups it would be quite a party!  Did you watch it in Cottage Grove?  I did, and after the game my son-in-law and grandson went to a friends house, who happens to be from Wisconsin, and ran around his yard with their Vikings flag.

We were at my sister's party in Lakeville OT.  They have a 42" and a 60" plasma TV plus a HD projection TV that displays on their entire wall which has got to be 12'x8'!  I have my Viking mobile all done up with the flags and decals as usual.  You'll know when you see me driving down the road. I had a bunch of people give me the thumbs up and honks today on the way to work.  I usually drive my Caddie to work but I felt compelled to drive the Viking Purple Blazer today.

You're right Kitch in that this win was huge given the alternative.  Those cheesehead dipshits would never let us live it down.  It would have been better than their standard "have you ever won a Super Bowl" comment.  Which I always come back with, have you ever played us in the Super Bowl?  I made a huge poster size print of Moss' moon and taped it up in our security department because of the Packer fan who went to the game yesterday starts in a few minutes.  I can't wait to rub it in.

Sorry bout the visual Rat.  I was just kidding but I wanted to point out that being a fan of anything is like driving.  The old adage that anyone driving slower than you is an idiot and any faster is a maniac.  I look at the fat painted guys as fanatics just like you might look at us for having flags on our vehicles.  I just want to ride this wave as long as I can before they choke.  I'll still be OK with the lame ass season because of that GB game tho.

This game is in the hands of the people who bring you reality television...

"There used to be a league that was all game, and now there is a league that has allowed the game to leak, or ooze, beyond the sidelines and end-zone stripes, where what takes place there is becoming part of the game's record. It gets reported and commented on, just like a 92-yard punt return."

Anyone notice lots of parallels between pro football and pro wrestling?
