Mr. Med Hunter
Me2 - I'm not Newbie and the stories in the book do not go that far in-depth. I have read most of them but do not store them in memory like Jake does.
I spoke to Jake the other night and he was reading things from the "Screenings" chat to me over the phone. He's definitely benn lurking in the People's Forum. My money is on Jake being Newbie. There's very little doubt in my mind.
Nope. It can't be Jake. Newbie has remained intelligent and even tempered for a whole day. Jake can't last fifteen minutes (never has, never will). Also Jake would have made a snide or inappropriate (foghorn) comment by now.
Newbie could just be a lurker that has not shown himself for years...or perhaps the new cluewriter? Maybe Boxmeyer (oldcluewriter)?
Whoever, it definitely is not Jake. I'd bet big money on that.
If it's Jake he's purposely trying to not let us know, and that would explain the different behavior. And it's just like him to do something to 'trick us' all and maybe try to 'prove to us' that he can be mature. Plus like others have said, he does know this stuff.
newbie is Jake. Jake's actually a decent writer when he wants to be. I've read some stuff he's written before and am always surprised by how good it is. He just switched his major to journalism--not that that means anything other than he's serious about writing...
The knowledge that newbie has -- Jake's the only one who knows that stuff. He got most of that info from Bill Schneider, who wrote the clues from 1974 to 1984. Bill's the guy the PP wouldn't let me talk to. I had an interview set up with Bill, and they blocked it. It's too bad because Bill has so many good stories.
Jake's problem is not raw intelligence or memory or recall, it's socialization. I think that by the time he gets in his mid-30s, he'll chill out a bit and be a much "better person."
But Jakes ego is far too large to go this long without revealing himself. When Jake comes here he WANTS us to know it's him.
I know! That's why I think we should come up with someone that it isn't and all agree that it's him/her and all praise that person for their hunt knowledge, I mean overboard. That way if it isn't Jake, the person that it really is will feel welcomed and if it is Jake he'll explode and let the cat out of the bag.
Something I noticed the other night was a reference newbie made about Mr Med Hunter. He said something the to the affect lets see if Mr Med Hunter is about his wits. Leads me to see a small "Ego" pushing from behind the fake front.

Some call him Waldo, but we've always called him Guy Smiley. He rides...or rather pushes.....his bike all over the metro area. I've seen him over on Grand Ave.
I emailed Zeph in Iraq about both books coming out -I havnt heard from him yet to see if he wants one held til he gets back. I personally think you will sell all 500 in 2 weeks.
how bout we all take up a collection at the pdg. buy each of the books, a 4 pack of buttons, the cc button, big g's window cling, bumper sticker for the humvee (or whatever his ride of choice is), and pack it in fake ice cubes and send it to him, along with some chocolate because we've got a heart?
I am also going to be getting some donations from work together. I know it will be appreciated. If you want to get that pack of stuff together I will be happy to mail it on behalf of the CC. If there is anything else you want to donate you can bring it to the predig and I will be happy to ship it to them.
