Great idea CM! I'll make my own damn frogpond!! Hide my own medallion there! I'll write all the clues and find it all by myself. Then I will have a t-shirt made up to say that I found the medallion and issue a press release.
Give me one summer and I'll be a finder!!!!!!
speaking of joes, my car his the 150,000 mile joe today, woo. Now I am looking forward to 150051!
Ummmmm, Timmers, Joes on cars are not good things!
CM, you're a celebrity!!
He is?? Can I get your Schnapps bottled signed?
I'm a dork is what I am - You wouldn't see me doing that nowadays \
(OK maybe you would)
I was actually on Real TV twice. Well my video was anyway. I taped a hailshaft that occurred during this huge tornado outbreak a number of years ago. I need to find that so I can save it on the net before it deteriorates.

Hahaha, thats what I wanted to do but it was on 494 during rush hour, so I would have probably died.
CM your last name is funny!!!
I'm surprised some big ass semi didn't plow me over. There was one that flew by pretty close while I was setting up the tripod. It was raining and it sprayed me pretty good.
CM your last name is funny!!!
Thanks Scribbles - I saw that first Real TV spot at work on our huge projection screen TV but couldn't turn off the closed captioning for some reason. The phonetic spelling of my name was hilarious.
Yeah dude, that's cool. But you might want to delete it after a bit so everybody in the free world doesn't know your secret identity.
Yeah... cuz you have a funny last name.
Done.
That was my plan all along - Thanks
I actually thought we were in a 'different' thread though. Ooops

Clue Funny. Clue Funny. Clue Funny. NANANA!
What's wrong with Master anyway? Green likes it.
She's a REAL friend
[Edited by on Jan 11, 2005 at 08:44pm.]
She can't read, she makes her 9 year old kid read the posts to her and then helps her respond. I sure hope she lets him go to bed soon.
Scribes kid: don't read this post to her, tell her it says that I think she's really good at standing in line or something.
Bwaaaahhhh!!
I am good at standing in line!
Â
I'm gonna go practice right now.

Crap. I think I just screwed up my screen standing on that.
Sorry.. was that line to short?
Scribes kid: It was supposed to be standing IN line, not ON line. Maybe you should beg her to let you go to bed.
Too late, she's already standing on the screen. Broke her laptop. Says she's practicing her technique.
Geez, if it's going to be this busy now, how is anyone ever going to keep up during the hunt?
Regarding Target, it's kind of funny they would turn that Roseville Target into a Super Target. I remember a long time ago it actually did have a grocery store in it. They eventually took that out and expanded the store.
Regarding West St. Paul, I remember hearing that story. I heard it from Jake who I believe got it from talking to one of the people that hid it. Personally I would kind of doubt that either Boxmeyer or Millet would be so well versed in treasure hunt lore. I don't think being the cluewriter actually makes you a treasure hunt fanatic. I suspect anyone could find out that information from reading old newspaper articles and things written here if they really wanted to know that much. So it could be anyone, including a real "newbie".
I got a call from the Pioneer Press yesterday for an article they're writing about the treasure hunt and the movie. I gave the guy a bunch of information. I also gave him Jake's number and told him he was the "villian" of the Cooler Crew. The guy kept saying how he knew nothing about where the medallion was or who the cluewriter was, even though I never brought the subject up. He said it so many times, it made me wonder if maybe he was the new cluewriter. he said he was going to try and finish the article Tuesday so maybe it will come out Wednesday.
Cooler! AW's the new writer everyone!!!
;-)
Nice of you to finally drop in ol wise one. Who was the interview with?
[Edited by on Jan 11, 2005 at 11:46pm.]
Allsion Wonderland, the article will be published on January 23rd. It seems as if some of you are hinting at my identity, good luck. Sometimes people come from the other side to gain information......
Geez, some people in this house just won't sleep!!!!
I almost forgot, time to answer the 1999 trivia question.
Don Boxmeyer, on one of his daily drives by the medallion's hiding place, noticed HIS NIECE digging very near where the medallion was hidden. Don wasn't sure how to handle the situation, and ended up telling her she couldn't hunt, for it would create a great deal of controversy if she found it. Hence, as of January 31st, 1999, Boxmeyer's niece knew the secret.
FYI, I am very fascinated as to some of your theories as to my identity. I will share it with all of you AFTER this years hunt.
Â
Since i'm up in the middle of the night and it might be a while before I return to sleep, how about another trivia question.
In what year was the FIRST treasure hunt resource published. (HINT: It was NOT the first edition of the St. Paul Parks Treasure Hunters Guide) This question may be a bit subjective, but I've done my research and I am 99% sure my answer is correct (I am sorry to say I can't be 100% sure) and if someone has a copy, I'd pay money to own one, as I have not been able to locate one, although I have verified through more than one source that these do in fact exist. I am also unsure as to the origins of this publication, I am really hoping someone has more information on this than I........ I apologize, I have edited this post a few times, but this is an important piece of hunt history, and it is something people, including myself, know very little about.
[Edited 3 times. Most recently by on Jan 12, 2005 at 01:40am.]
Dizzam.... another hard one...
one thing that all these trivia questions have proven to me, about myself...... even though Ive been hunting a long ass time, I dont know jack about anything that goes on.
However...
If you were to ask me something easy.... say.... how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? I could tell you the answer, right away.... its general knowledge, after seeing that commercial way back in the day, with the owl dude on the tree, that it only takes 3.Â
Although that doesnt really have much to do with the hunt now, does it?
and this has been yet another meaningless, latenight babble post, by
Violent JÂ Wicked Nick.I am also under the assumption that if you know what year, you will know what exactly was published.
Anyone thats still out here...... im gone (for a few hours anyhow).... MCL.
The year of that publication is 1987 I believe. My copy of that is up north so I can't be 100 percent sure. It was typed - as on an old typewriter, done by two women, and spiral bound. The cover was blue card stock. Basically it was the clues with explanations from 1952 forward. There were also some observations about what were thought to be common practices - like having a very early clue say what the medallion was hidden in.Â
That has been talked about several times. If it is NOT the answer, I vaguely recall something different, which I did a half-a$$ search for. I might have even seen the item in an antique store (years ago), and passed it up due to the cost.
Stupid.
Holy Crow, Holy Crow, Holy CROW!!!
We got this Newbie that *I* don't think is Greg, and s/he's like WONDERFUL.  This izz like a walking/talking history lesson. Like a little verbal time machine! ITTIZ WONDERFUL!!!!
Can't you just SEE Boxmeyer, on the horns of a dilemma, the scene outside his car window all black trees and white snow? The look on his face? How's he gonna tell his neice? It'll spoil The Hunt for her. And then...  old was she? How'd she take the news? With sorrow and tears? Anger?  Pride in her uncle for his integrity and honesty, his beliefs?Â
I can just see it all in my head... Wow. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! It gives me SPARKLIES!
I don't know... Like Newbie said (paraphrased) and what I've said beefore, why can't Mom Press come lurk and even post? They certainly hung out enuff watching us when we were in the original Cooler (bows head in reverence).
I'm betting' sumbuddy from "the udder side."Â Yup.
Â
And, my good fiends and loved ones, with the Boxmeyer story you should now know what I've been saying for like SEVEN YEARS:
SPOTTERS XSIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ItoldjaItoldjaItoldja.
"Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in awhile."
Jeez, Trent... *Where* did Bridgey from Bemijdi learn to call me that, about the screaming??? Sumbudy (Mommy? Daddy?) had to say it first... Thanks!
Well, better that than pick up my vocabulary...........
Morning Green. I like the sparklies on your butt. :)
FYI, I am very fascinated as to some of your theories as to my identity. I will share it with all of you AFTER this years hunt.
oh come on now. come on out to mcgoverns' on the 22nd. we don't bite. we promise.
I have a loose, well worn copy of the 1987 book with the clues and explanations. I only wish that they'd have included all the explanations instead of just using the ones that they thought were key.
I wonder why Boxmeyer didn't just tell her she was ineligible due to him being an employee of the paper? Maybe she argued with him that being a niece wasn't an *immediate* family member so he had to break down and tell her.
The guiy who did the interview was John Brewer. Sounded like a pretty young guy. He was kind of funny. He told me after he talked to Jake that Jake was trying to needle him for information.
So even though PP employees can't find it, do you think they still try to figure out the clues and guess where it is with each other?
