BASTARD

S!!!
hehehe
lol I only need less than half of what's in that set, so I'd split a winning bid on it to get those :)
I think we all need and want the lower half lol.
But... we as a crew will end up with all we need one day anyways so its all good.
[Edited by on Jan 12, 2005 at 09:19pm.]
Yeah true, trading will help, only problem with me gettin that lot would be I only need 1/4 of what's in it, the rest would be doubles and triples.
Well I still need to finish my current set plus get a second one together. They are both going to be my boys.
a second? wheew you're pretty ambitious :) I'd just have one set and let em fight it out after I was gone ;) Nah, I guess I'd get a couple then too, that's cool
Then after I get two sets together..... I will have to spend sometime trading out my not so good buttons for better quality ones. My keys are falling apart and showing their age. Glad to have them... but will be happy to hand over nice sets to them both.
I like the keys, I think those are the coolest WC "buttons" made. Wouldn't mind havin an extra set of those just so I wouldn't mind wearing em

I like those and the 1955
hey if anyone needs a button registration form to send in, I got a few 04s, 03s, 02s, and 01s
lol!
I still have tickets to the Ice Palace :)
same here, we oughta show up and demand entrance.
I don't believe those had an expiration date on em
I'm sure they would be happy to let us roam the grounds..... Not much for pictures though...
I could search around and try to find the ice block I bought
I still have that chunk of ice from last year in my freezer.
[Edited by on Jan 12, 2005 at 10:44pm.]
I got a chunk I salvaged from Phalen after they finished cutting there.
I was outbid on the buttons? eBay didn't bother to tell me.
yeah ebay is rather finicky about informing me on auctions I'm bidding on or watching
Is that thing even worth that?

Just watch...after this one closes....I bet the guy selling these does another big batch...
I hope Scribe doesn't get into a bidding war.
She's gone nuts since she discovered e-bay.
:-)
must.. have... buttons...
Actually once they get too high priced, then I'm not so sure, especially without splitting the cost. most of the newer buttons are only worth 5-6 bucks a piece, so I guess 80-100 for that lot is still about right, but it'll probably go higher I'm guessin
Not by me it won't... that Match book i got for 6 bucks..... someone has one on there for 40.00
I've bought a few buttons on eBay, mostly from a guy I know. I bought a lot more from him at antique shows. I know his quality is good. (LLvintage)
I got a matchbook a couple years ago for $5.00.
The key is to watch, and wait. Although the Armetale plates are ultra-rare, I bought a couple for $12.00-15.00 which was a third of the issue price.
I think I paid about $15.00 apiece for the keys, and a little bit less for the 1940's-1950's buttons. The 1937-1939 were more. This was prior to eBay, and there were not many places that had this stuff.
Last year I bought mass quantities of 5 different years, for a quarter apiece. The key is to watch, and wait.
IMHO
Ian... is there a list where these antique shows take place? I would be interested in hitting a few of those.

Yeah, I told Scribe not to put her highest bid out there right away.

There is, or used to be, an "official" Winter Carnival antique show, usually at Har Mar. I haven't been in a few years, and I'm not sure there still is one. You might check the website for sponsored activities, or whatever they call it. Events ??
Scribe and I met the guy you're talking about a few years ago at either Har Mar or Apache.
He was a nice guy and did have quality items. I think we bought a few things from him, but have never been in his shop. Well, maybe Scribe's been in his shop but I haven't.
I bumped her from 48 to 50...knowing full well she didn't bid at 48.....
You guys! I saw Ian, OTS, you, Scribbles all bidding on it. Anyone know who Jes is?
I want to say "Buddy, a 1987 button is NOT rare".
I"ve seen some buttons at that Antique Mall on University off of Lexington. Way in the back of the store to the West.
There are tons at j & e on payne/arcade/wherever
You get those two streets mixed up? So do I!
I really don't like knowing who I'm bidding against on there.
ah HELLO! look at least at the name who already has a bid in on the item...YOU BID AGAINST ME!!!!!! 4 coins!
J T:
Tell Scribe I'll sell her a 1964 button for $5.00
With the $11.95 shipping on the 6 button lot, and the reserve price not met, she might wanna re-think that one. IMHO
Ebay is just funny.... people sometimes bid way high on stuff, that you can find in stores for super-cheap...
I.E. WWF, had some action figures out, it was a box set of Degeneration-X, and they were wearing pinstripe suits, kinda like the mobsters wore.... well.. Toys R Us, and Target, and wherever else, had the set for like 20 bucks..... I was going through Ebay a few days after I saw them at the store, and there were people bidding close to 150 bucks for it.....
ah the luxury of having a toy store nearby.
I hope you invested then VJ
I have a kind of different look on death. Maybe because of having lost so many family members. But I think they're all waiting for us somewhere and wanting us to be happy here because the best is yet to come. I don't think they're sad to see us mourn though. You aren't sad there. Our sadness is a penance. And I think time is different there. A minute is like a nanosecond, so they don't have to wait long for the reunion.
It's hard to think like that right after a loss, but it does help down the road a bit.
I hope you invested then VJ
Im lame... I bought the things, and opened them right away, so they could sit on my dresser with the rest of the action figures..... by the time I went to go get a box to keep for collectors purposes, they werent selling them anymore.
Im lame.
Atlast, you admit to it. Thats the first step, admitting you have a problem.
The lameness isnt the problem. You are.
Looks like I posted that last post in the wrong thread. Sorry about that.
I guess I'll take that as a compliment. You know, to know that ive influenced you, so strongly over all the time we've known eachother.
That freakin' jes character is pissin' me off. I need 19 buttons to complete my second collection, and a dozen of them are in that lot. I bumped it up $20.00 and was outbid.
[Edited by on Jan 13, 2005 at 12:24pm.]
why dont you just wait til the last 20 seconds? he may have an auto bidder set up!
