Looks like Jackie and I are booked on the KARE-11 Saturday morning show on the 22nd.  They said they're going to do a 4-minute segment that will feature two 30-second clips from the film.  At the end of the segment, they're going to show Jesse's and Steve's books.  If it happens, that should help get the word out.

Also, be on the lookout for a piece that's supposed to run on the 23rd in the Pioneer Press.  That's it for now.  I'm still manning the phones....

Cooler Trent!!  Keep up the good work.  I know I sent out mass e-mails with the flier and have it posted on my site as well.

Very cooler ESD!  But I'm thinking it might come across as a cartoon rather than a live action documentary.

ESD, that looks awesome. Thanks.  By the way, you've been on my to-do list for the past year:  Talk to ESD re: his Cooler Kids.  I would love to interview you this year to try to stick you into the film or on to the DVD extras, or somehow, some way get you in there... if you're up for it (NOTE: ESD will actually be one of the few hunters with an opportunity to see the film first, then decide whether or not he wants to participate).

I really love your animated hunt characters, and I think your other work is excellent.

Once again, thanks so much.  I can't wait until Jackie sees it.

I think he should have used a frog on there somewhere.

jk ;-)

ESD, do you have a larger file of the poster that we can use to promote the screenings?

Your first gig ESD!!!  Give him a buck TT and he can frame it.  Unless you already framed your first buck from your book that is.

ESD, you can e-mail it to us at MedallionHuntDoc@aol.com

I will be in touch with you re: your schedule during the hunt.  Jackie and I are returning home on the 24th, but I'll be back that Friday (Clue 6) for the rest of the hunt and the other screenings.

Once again, thanks so much.  Jackie just got home, saw it up on the screen and absolutely loved it.

I'm not sure if I'm in it, I know I didn't get interviewed or anything. Do you remember meeting me last year Trent? (or the year before, I can't remember)

I know me and Shaggy were interviewed a few times.... once infront of the PP, in that bus shelter... which was proabably a real crappy interview.... due in part to us not knowing what to say, and in part, because we throught it would be funny to make fun of the giant microphone thing on the stick........ and then, again at Como, when we were either leaving to get breakfast, after having been digging in the woods for 28 hours straight, or coming back tothe park, aftereating breakfast, and, Trent just happened to be there, so we started talking to him, and in the middle of it, he started shooting...... I think that one would have been cooler than the first one.

Hey. Thanks for reminding me, I think I still owe you for the white castle that you bought that morning.

SUP NINJAS!

7 days until the hunt!

To answer the last trivia question, Bill had hunted previously at Battle Creek Park. When he went to the paper to get clue #9, the guys who had found it the year before at Highland were also there and had mentioned to Bill it might be in or around Linwood. Bill went to check it out and the rest is history.

I am curious as to where everyone thinks the medallion is.........

Sarcasm aside.... Just could be "public property". Seems like a good move.

Anything to keep us guessing :)

I believe the rules state "Read the daily clues to search for the Pioneer Press medallion hidden on public land in Ramsey County." Doesn't mention it has to be in a park, does it????

Sat, 01/15/2005 - 1:12 AM Permalink
Wicked Nick

Thats true.

But I'll stick with the chances of it being in a park, and stay with Cherokee.

Yeah its true.... Like I said... Just could be "public property". Seems like a good move.

But I still like Mounds myself. Just personal and somewhat silly reasons. If people slog back a little bit they would see my reason...

Will be interesting to see this year.

Yes we will see. I'm going to get some rest.

I think it'd be interesting to see the medallion end up outside Saint Paul, but what I'd like to see and what actually happens tend to be totally different.

Unless the cluewriters are tired of hearing complaints and change their methods, I could predict another year of obscure clues that could be made to fit any park. Of course I can understand the obscurities though, the internet is a powerful tool, and it's very difficult to balance between a challenging and rewarding hunt verses a simple and short lived one.

OTiS

You are correct KC0GRN. Some of us in here could Google 90% of the normal stuff said in this world within minutes of hearing it let alone a handful of hunt verses.

The clues have to be obscure and tricky.

Personaly I don't mind a challange so long as the clues mean what they say they mean when all is said and done.

I'll say the fist clue will say Ramsey county but it will turn out to be in St. Paul common just to keep people off the track for the first half of the clues.

Sadly, some people still have no idea what day the clues come out :(.

So true. And maybe they're  here to gage what is acceptable and what is not? Maybe this guy is real ,or maybe he's just fake! Maybe he's Lance! We haven't seen him in a while have we? He does have all this on his backups! Would make some money for him would it not?

I agree it WILL BE IN ST PAUL! MARK MY WORDS! (untill I say different)

Last year they gave us the "regional park" thing in clue #1.

On the set of clues that I was writing...I was very careful to make sure I googled everything and see the results....

I think it makes for good clue writing to try to figure out what possible answers people would be able to find.

That is why I've been testing many search engines other then google.....but then again....I love google....I just know it like the back of my hand....

I'll give you a clue......one of the Writers in PP wrote about the hunter and  family....and about the "beast"

Tim, do you know Nicole H-B?

I know this is a really delayed response but yes. She is teaching me all about the Art of Film. On day one she mentioned she previously worked at the MN film board, so I thought you might have had some contact with her. She seems really cool. Maybe I'll tell her about the screenings if you haven't, she might be interested to see how it turned out/see her best student in a film.
