THX- What thread? I know nothing! I am lame! I use all the 'putereze to find this one everyday. If I show up anywhere else, it is purely by accident. So....*sniff* Is it too late for a nametag? I want to feel special, too. Even if I heaped all that abuse on you last night- heh.
Cool, just using Firefox and found out it has tabbed browsing. That means I can have multiple sites open, and when I close the browser, it remembers em all and brings all the sites back up next time I open it.
I know the snow predictions this winter have been a huge bust but here's another one just in time for the screening and PDG.
Winter Weather StatementAs of 3:30 PM CST on January 20, 2005
... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning...
Snow is still expected to develop Friday afternoon and continue Friday night. 4 to 6 inches of snow with a narrow band of as much as 8 inches is possible by Saturday morning. The most significant snow will likely occur Friday night. There is still some uncertainty in the storm track and thus the area of heaviest snowfall. Thus listen closely to the latest forecasts.
Remember... a Winter Storm Watch means conditions are favorable for a hazardous winter weather event in and close to the watch area.
There is a potential for significant snow accumulations that may impact travel.
How do you get five tabs to open up when you load Firefox?
You have to open all the websites using tabs (I assume you can use tabs), then go to "Tools", "Options", then under home pages click the button "Use Current Pages".
I don't know I would spend a lot of time on the road.
It won't become an issue after a week ESD. I did it and I actually enjoy my long drive to work now. I'm with PayMe, take it and keep looking. At least you can toss it on a resume so your perspective new employer can think they're stealing someone from one of their competitors.
I've never been down that road, but I'll give you my advice.
I think it's a real good sign if your boss applied for the PM job and you got it instead of her, the company obviously sees some potential in you. Your boss applied for it presumably because she thought it would be a reduction in hours from the 70+ she is currently working, so that's a good sign for the PM job as opposed to the OM at the new company. You just don't want to be sitting in your current job in two years saying "damn I should have taken that PM job". Also with the pay thing, maybe if you start at the lower wage after you get into the job you could propose the pay increase and management will be more receptive considering you started out lower than they expected.
That being said, stay where you are so you can hunt more!
Great advice you guys!! I really do appreciate it. The other factor I failed to mention is that my wife is unemployed right now and it's killing us. No money or benefits. I have a terrible ear ache and can't even go in to see if I need antibiotics or not. But I digress.
I just got a call from the OPs Mgr who's been overseeing the contract with the open PM position and took that opportunity to slip in my mistake on the wage that I preferred. At least they can talk about it now. I know I'm still going to be cheaper than the guy who was in there before for 10 years. Either way, I think I'll still be a bargain that both sides will like. I'm thinking that had to be a factor when picking me over my boss too. She might have been just too damn expensive. Bonus for me I guess.Â
The only thing I know I won't like about that new PM position is that I'll have to meet with 100+ tenants regularly to see how we're doing as opposed to meeting with my one client now. I can get a pretty good relationship going in a short period of time having fewer tenants to talk to. I have a hard time with names anyway. Kinda like you guys. As I've said before, I couldn't address you by your real name if I tried. Now if all my tenants could only have screen names, I'd be good to go.
CM - What I've always told my kids is try to find work that you love to do and pays enough to make a decent living. (Be able to pay your bills and so you can enjoy a few of the nicer things.)
Having said that, you were excited about the PM job when you applied. Sounded like it was something you'd like to do. I can't tell you what to do, but given what you've said, it sounds like it could very well be something you would like.
Regarding the other job...if you have any doubts at all, check and recheck the required hours, the real hours and the pay. Remember working at a job that pays 40 hours no matter what...once divided between 60 and 70 hours a week leaves you with no personal life and crappy per hour pay.
CM - For what it's worth....do you *know* for a fact that the OM job with the new company would require 70+ hours/week? Just because one company classifies the position that way, wouldn't necessarily mean the other would treat the same job title exactly the same.
What about benefits? I remember reading that Mrs CM had quit her job....is she working still/yet? Hiring managers always seem to treat that stuff as trivial when I've asked how much the benefits cost...but it can make a HUGE difference. When Dad finally got his job (he started the week of his last unemployment check) we figured out that by switching our insurance coverage to his new job, we'd save nearly $400/month! That's an extra 5K in my pocket!
Above all, try to stay with the job you think you'll be happiest with. Money is nice, but if it means you have to take a job that you hate and keeps you away from your family more than you'd like, well, it would take a lot of cash to make it really worth it - at least for me. If it were me, I'd try to sneak something in for the PM job for a decent increase after 90 days in the position.....that's the job you interviewed for, so there must have at least been some interest there on your part. If they like you (and it seems like your higher ups do) they probably will bite on something like that. They just don't want to have to pay any more than they have to....that's likely why they asked you what you'd work for.
I don't have a sponsor....so I might fall off the wagon....

but......I think I need to make t-shirts or something.....saying I'm a joe-holic...or something....
HA HA HA you dirty joe!

Think of the possibilities!
That's the best feature of Firefox if you ask me. 5 homepages!
I used to like having that option on Opera, but didn't like the adware on the browser, this is 10 times better.
Haveta have it all setup for the hunt. One for the PP, one here, one for maps, another for anagramming..
K... dumb question.. but what's firefox?
I also like the ability to customize your toolbar, that's kind of fun.
haven't done too much with the toolbar yet, but I'll get there.
Firefox is a web browser (like IE, but better).
firefox.com
I guess ya can call it a thingy, it's a good all around term.
maybe the cluewriter will use it this year.... since it's an all around term, it'd fit nicely with a vague clue
You said "Thingy".
say all kinds of great words! :) what comes out is not always thought out. but i try!

Ha, I bet the hiders are out this evening hiding that medallion.

Nah they dropped it before the 1st hint last year, they just hadta drop a second one cause the first one "wandered off".
I've no doubt they hide it by the first clue, but that snowfalls gotta have em thinking about going out now...

That's what I did last time and for some reason it didn't work. It seemed obvious, but I thought I was doing something wrong.

Good evening EVERYONE!!! Quick hello from work....I am actually starting to get really excited about Saturday. YIPEEE not too much longer to wait.Â
Interview went good today $10 an hour but no benefits and it's in Wayzata I don't know I would spend a lot of time on the road.
I'll be back later, ya'll.... im off to watch an evening of Smackdown, followed by taped episodes of crappy TV shows.
Â
ESD, worse case scenario you can take that job for a bit while you are looking for something better:)
Thats what I was thinking it's better than unemployment.
I don't know I would spend a lot of time on the road.

Tough choice CM the money might look nice but like you said you would have a lot more responsibility and a lot more work.
Do what will make you happy/happier/happiest.
It's impossible to work 70 hours a week and have a home life.
Money isn't everything.
