8th Annual Re-Hash Bash

Submitted by THX 1138 on

The cooler crew is an online community that is made up of folks with a commonality
that involves gathering in parks in the dead of the winter and because we have this
obsession in common, we find other parts of us that have commonality too. - TerryV

Who goes to a picnic in February?

The Re-Hash Bash is always open to all Diggers, Hunters, Clue-Writers and Lurkers. Discuss the Medallion Hunt, and have a good time with those of like obsession. It's a great time! The Re-Hash Bash is a family affair. Spouses and kids (even toddlers) are more than welcome! Come early, stay late and eat, then eat some more. It's a potluck deal. It really is a fun time. It helps bring closure to the hunt for the year.

Another fantastic get together!

The CoolerHeads are a group of people who participate in the
Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt during Winter Carnival .

The Bash began in 1998 at Cherokee Park. It is always on the Sunday after the Medallion is found, and is held at the location where it was found. The link above is where all the clues were analyzed (over-analyzed !), accepted, rejected, discussed.

What you need to bring.....

  • Bring a dish to share: dessert, salad, hot dish, whatever you like.
  • Bring your own drinks.
  • Bring your own plates, cups and utensils.
  • There will be a fire. logs are needed !
  • Check the forecast, but come prepared for "changing" weather.
  • There have been gas stoves and charcoal grills in the past.

WILL WE SEE YOU THERE??

No, no, no, the city aquired a larger plot of land just east of downtown. It was completed last summer. Oh how the kids had fun on the water slide!

many have seen the shores of Harriet Island for the last time

I heard that some of the pages of his book were actually made with parts of misguided treasure hunters and their shovels

It's gonna be a long day with the screenings and PDG later.  I don't think I could handle a long day of drinking then getting up early besides.

You're gonna be with Me2, your gonna wish the day would never end!

A lot of people are at their best when drinking. I would say that if you are worried about beer intake being a problem, look no further than one of the greatest Simpson quotes of all-time.
"Alcohol; the problem and solution to, all lives troubles!"

Yeah, first time ever, I'm pretty excited about it, any advice?

My wife just had it a short time ago. They called a bunch of names and told them to go home and come back tomorrow. Then they called more and said the same thing. Then she waited. After a while they called more and said go home and come back tomorrow. She waited some more. Finally they said to everyone else, Go home and don't come back at all.

My advise is be patient. :)

I got called for jury duty once. The week before I was scheduled to go someone called me up and said "We have more people than we need, do you want to just skip it?" And I said sure. And that was my jury duty experience.

Just got back from my second day, let us out early today. So far I have just sat there for 6 hours yesterday and 3 1/2 hours today just watching movies on my laptop. So I guess I'm doing the same as you rosie, just no blanket.

Get to find out if I have another day of "doing my civic duty" after 5 tonight, your tax dollars hard at work.

What a classic Simpsons episode when Homer actually enjoyed being sequestered and having room service. They also had a funny "Curb Your Enthusiasm" episode where Larry David gets out of jury duty by letting a few racist remarks slip during his jury screening. I would hate having jury duty during the hunt. Good luck.

I am a teacher at the Junior High level and I heard that little gem from one of my students and had to share it. Humor is good this time of year because after combing through Phalen park at 11:00 at night with a spelunker light and a shovel for two weeks in sub-zero temperatures, you need to be able to laugh.

Oh don't worry, I originally had it scheduled for October, but I had school. Now that I'm done I scheduled it for the week before the hunt so there would be no conflicts.

daughter just came home yesterday with a homework project: Interview an adult, ask them what they think being a good citizen means. Being a good citizen is getting what I want when I want it-It's the American way!

Me2... how are you?? lol I think I saw ya a few wks ago running into the Rockin Lobster. Not 100% sure if it was you or not, I was waiting inside the doors at Ecolab for my bus, and stuck my head out to call yer name but either you, lol or the person I thought was you was already inside.

I teach in Hopkins, but I live in St. Paul.  My first year I taught at Central High School in 01.  Unfortunately a lot of the adolescent humor finds its way into my brain via osmosis.
