The cooler crew is an online community that is made up of folks with a commonality
that involves gathering in parks in the dead of the winter and because we have this
obsession in common, we find other parts of us that have commonality too. - TerryV
Who goes to a picnic in February?
The Re-Hash Bash is always open to all Diggers, Hunters, Clue-Writers and Lurkers. Discuss the Medallion Hunt, and have a good time with those of like obsession. It's a great time! The Re-Hash Bash is a family affair. Spouses and kids (even toddlers) are more than welcome! Come early, stay late and eat, then eat some more. It's a potluck deal. It really is a fun time. It helps bring closure to the hunt for the year.
Another fantastic get together!

The CoolerHeads are a group of people who participate in the
Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt during Winter Carnival .
The Bash began in 1998 at Cherokee Park. It is always on the Sunday after the Medallion is found, and is held at the location where it was found. The link above is where all the clues were analyzed (over-analyzed !), accepted, rejected, discussed.
What you need to bring.....
- Bring a dish to share: dessert, salad, hot dish, whatever you like.
- Bring your own drinks.
- Bring your own plates, cups and utensils.
- There will be a fire. logs are needed !
- Check the forecast, but come prepared for "changing" weather.
- There have been gas stoves and charcoal grills in the past.
WILL WE SEE YOU THERE??
He showed up late tonight. He was there though.
Damn! I didn't see him. Or at least recognize him. The gals were talking to me about how we should call everyone who's first in line, Jon.
"Hey look everyone, that guy got a Jon tonight!"Â Kinda like a Joe
The girls are saying "hey theres a jon?"
Whoa!
I'm sure you seen him CM. Skinney guy we talked to before we left.
I will be there tonight.....
I don't need to give ya a CD (of photo) OTiS. You have most of my pics now exept the same ones (duplicates)Â that are already posted by others. I can still give you the originals in large format (5 megapixl) if you''d like to use them for something. I don't want to edit them, but you can if you want. Plenty of room (size) to do any cropping or what not. Let me know if you still want them and I'll burn them and bring 'em tonight. There are more than what I sent. (my own duplicates of others you saw)
I will be there tonight.....
I'll take the CD 3M. After the hunt I might get something better then I have now put together.
Cm... all that and you still had time to pump the soap twice?
wrong thread OTiS
Yes but imagine the morning when once again everyone has no clue what we are talking about!
seems to happen a lot.
Sometimes.. I don't even know what I'm talking about.
what was that?
I'm sorry, What?
yea.
what he said.
Cm... all that and you still had time to pump the soap twice?

Has anyone checked to see if the electricity is turned on down at Crosby so it's ready for Sunday?
I think K T mentioned that it was 45 dollars to do it but I haven't heard anyone metion it was set up just yet.
There were some kids who were down there partyin on Saturday that had a radio plugged in and was workin fine.. so I would imagine that there's juice.
Could someone double check? Ian always brings his sloppy joe medallions in a crockpot - and there's others that bring things in crockpots as well.
I'll bring something to plug in w/me when I go down there next Terry :) and I'll call and see if we have to pay for the winter. If we have to pay.. if everyone donates a dollar, I think that's fair.
Great! If it's on though, you shouldn't have to call. I wish I would have thought to try it out earlier today while we were down there.
Â
You don't want to call to tell them to turn if on if they forgot to turn if off. ;)
well like I said.. there were some kids down there on Sat who had a regular stereo plugged in for like 3-4 hrs!
Many of the parks leave the electric on over the winter...but there, being it's a flood plain, you'd think they'd shut it off.
yeah no kidding!

i'll try and remembere to bring my circuit tester when we're out there tomorrow and try it out. results to be posted here :)
Thank you. Someone is bound to check.
I know it's worked in the winter before. I'd also suggest an extension cord so the crockpots don't have to be placed on the bench where people may want to sit.
We also talked tonight amongst a couple of us of moving the event back a week to the following Sunday so as to avoid conflicts with the last day of the movie's showing and the Superbowl.

I kinda like that idea, too... although im next to positive that I'll be there either way...
Also... I swear, I heard someone, tonight, say that they checked about electricity, and it should be on.....
Â
We have electricity.
We also talked tonight amongst a couple of us of moving the event back a week to the following Sunday so as to avoid conflicts with the last day of the movie's showing and the Superbowl.
This needs to be decided. I almost printed out the page to post at the pavilion.
I just plum said that I'd not be able to make the SB party until the game was well under way. Initially I'd said I'd not be attending, period, but then found out the game starts at like 5:00 PM and the eating (like I'll even have room after the RHB???) won't start until the game has. And since the RHB usually doesn't go too long after 4:00ish, well... I'll be able to make the SB Party.
I think that we should just leave the date the same. The Super Bowl is going to suck. Patriots are going to win. I know that many of us have already planned our schedules around the RHB and to change it on such short notice might be a problem for a lot of people. The way we have it now, you can start your coctail weinie bender earlier than planned!
I'd go on Sunday, the super bowl doesn't even start that early does it?
thinks a lot o people have seen the post for sunday and with the madness of hunting i think they would be sad to see a change in the date at the last minute. super bowl is later in the day. i'll be in da park either way. maybe just set up camp there til next year. found quite a few comfy magical sitt'in trees and possible shelters that might make a nice little home for me and some other wild critters.
the wild critters are dangerous.... you saw how fast, I ran from the tree monster.
If we are there later than 5:00 NT Said he would bring a TV :)
So is the date being changed? We won't be able to make it the next weekend. We have Cub Scout training plus I worked it out with my ex that the boys could be with us this weekend for the Re-hash...they will be with their dad next weekend.
My two cents: The Re-hash is ALWAYS the Sunday after the hunt. It is a consistant, plannable event that way. If we start changing the date AFTER the hunt willy-nilly it won't be an open event for everyone...including lurkers that may want to come out from the shadows for next year.
Me and Pay me talked.
Consider our opinion set now for the normal date. It's always been the Sunday after then thats when it should be.
If you want to see the game there should be time.

Ok, it was a thought. Normally there aren't so many conflicts with the date, but it sounds like changing it isn't really going to make it any better overall.
Yep, let's keep it this Sunday - life is too complicated to change things each year.
I am 300.
-- i'll bring some pitas and dips or something. cheese and crackers. that kinda thing. :)
I'm new to the Crew this year... I'd like to join in the fun. I'll bring some food and/or drink and some garbage bags, if anyone wants to help clean up the area a bit. Oh, my name's Jackie, by the way. You can call me Buzzy, Buzzygirl, or Jack. I look forward to meeting many of you!
this sunday it is then. and remember to bring your hunting tools. there's a panoramic photographer who wants to get a panoramic shot of us all hunting with zephy (even if it is just a staged shot).
It HAS to be this Sunday...it's tradition.Â
Looking forward to seeing new and not so new faces again.Â
Â
NT is making a cake :)
