Discuss the 2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt here.
Clue Master
Sorry Kitch - I've already checked the frog at CoNo and it's not there. I need to go back and check all those rocks around the pond though. Lotsa hiding spots in them things. It would take forever to look through all of them. Well, I'm off to meet my new crew. I'm a bit nervous. Wish me luck.
some guy called up and thanked Joe for making the clues easier. The guy said he knew it was at Crosby because of the quarterbacks. He hadn't yet figured out Homer. Joe kept denying he wrote the clues. Not much else.
Did Bing Crosby order the hit on Don Junemann? I thought Sinatra had the mob ties. They say that on Dec. 24th, when there is no snow- you can still hear his cries coming from the frog pond.
Does anyone know if me2 has the scoop on the cave down there? It's history & stuff? Not that it matters- but I dug up some very interesting stuff that tie the St. Paul mob to that park. Part of the coolerness of the hunt- finding out stuff- huh? I found out I have to work Mon&Tues. PLEASE! some coolerhead HAS to find it before then!
Are peeps noodlin'? I haven't been able to get on much yet, but I've got a half hour to kill if anybody wants to discuss...see if I'm on the same page....
What do people thing the numbers are around the small lake? I thought they were reference points for a nature trail of some sort, with the corresponding brochure only available in the summer.
I think all the numbers exist - I have a map with them all on it. I would agree they are for wildflowers or trees or something. Unfortunately, I don't have the corresponding information and I can't find it by googling.
Heheh- maybe it's a "suggested position" stop off hike, you know- kinda like excercises..... You need to be in that 'certain club' to get the pamphlet.
I say Crosby so far....I try to apply the KISS theory of keep it simple, stupid:
Clue 1, "old curmudgeon" is simply the medallion (it's being retired); was hidden higher up, but since the donut got eaten, the puck was dragged further downhill
Clue 2 buried before snow fell, so it's hidden good (base of tree, whatever, not sure yet)...can't figure out what it's hidden in yet....has a lake
Clue 3 cliffs and Mississippi nearby; don't know what the sound could be...flowing rivers (MN and Mississippi???)
Clue 4 field generals Gannon and Elway (football qb's) and (Odell) Shepard (poet)
Sts that surround Crosby could be buried nearer the upper lake closer to shelter, fire pits, etc than by Crosby itself.....don't know about sirens yet....
I think that's pretty much the consensus, however I'm not jumping on that band wagon yet. It seems too early to me to give away the park. But it's a big park, so maybe they're getting us there and because it's so large they're going to use the remaining clues to lead us there. The board at the Pioneer Press is pretty much in agreement that it's Crosby too. I don't know that park at all, so can't comment on the last part of your post re fire pits, shelters, etc.
The fire pits, etc I got from my Treasure Hunter's Guide.....I'm not real familiar with that park either...don't get over that way too often, but some of the stuff seemed to fit pretty good so far.....guess I'll go with that 'til the next clue probably blows all my thoughts to heck! LOL

According to this map, it says they are "stations".

I have to work the next three nights. But after that I'm clear sailing to the very end.
You can plan on my attendance Saturday night and beyond.
Pay Me will be going to the Friday night fun.
ok, so what happened on that date, besides Christmas eve (Christmas word again) and how did a frog get in the clues? sorry, been at school....

and Don J. was.....?
Marley when are we gonna see you down at GW? They run a Marley CD on loop there so you should come down and enjoy the tunes.
what station is Joe on??
I saw OTS mark in the snow....
Why didn't I change it to OTiS
saw the feather in the hat guys...(i think they dug around our birdhouse) (scribe)
Saw jake, Kathi H., AW, and about 10 cars of lurkers drivin' in at 4p.m.
Â
By the way... Don Juenemann was murdered when there was no snow.
I was at the Bird House.... That was my kids digging.
KSTP 1500 AM. Even Dave Dahl is getting in on the fun. He just called them the Joe Souchery's Winter Carnival Medallion Clues. hehe
They're talking about it right now.

I figured if anyone saw my mark it would be Kitch.....
Maybe I should start a new thing....
If you find my mark... take a picture and are the first to post here, I buy you a drink

kinda what i was thinkin. good noodl'in sj
What is your mark?
Joe was just joking around that Patrick wrote the clues at one point.
He said Patrick Reusse and Gareth Hiebert once wrote them.
the song "white christmas" lyrics have the words "december 24" in them
I just wrote my name in the snow.....
And before CM or Kitch say it.....I didn't write it in the snow that way!
Snow stays white :)
White snow also could have negative connotations - especially at that park. ;)
Did Bing Crosby order the hit on Don Junemann?
I thought Sinatra had the mob ties.
They say that on Dec. 24th, when there is no snow- you can still hear his cries coming from the frog pond.
Sniff.....
you guys say something about snow?
K T.. you are right... only when there is no snow.
Does anyone know if me2 has the scoop on the cave down there? It's history & stuff?

That pic of me2,mommy&mucky looks like the Hidden Falls, not the one at Crosby. Hmmm.

Read the October 27 logs, before it was moved.

I think they are wildflower identification numbers- if I remember right.
OTiS- I thought I saw your pants 'stuck' in a park- up in a tree.
Hey- did you guys spend alot of time at como today? Or did you get up to MLK park too?
I think all the numbers exist - I have a map with them all on it. I would agree they are for wildflowers or trees or something. Unfortunately, I don't have the corresponding information and I can't find it by googling.

Me2- ICU- does you know anthing 'bout that cave?
hey all, just got home from work and done reading all the posts I missed. Man, Crosbys huge, its gonna take til clue 12 to narrow down the spot.
Tonights clue ought to be a good one!
Has anyone been out to Crosby today? I'm thinking of doing a swing by on my home from work. I wonder if the west gate is open at night?

Has anyone been out to Crosby today?
Yep...

Keep in mind....I'm usually wrong. lol
OTiS---
that birdhouse....we moved it ...so somebody would dig where we moved it...
The fire pits, etc I got from my Treasure Hunter's Guide.....I'm not real familiar with that park either...don't get over that way too often, but some of the stuff seemed to fit pretty good so far.....guess I'll go with that 'til the next clue probably blows all my thoughts to heck! LOL
LURKERS ARE EVERYWHERE....
I talked to about 6 people down there today....4 of them.... but the 2 guys (hmmm) admited to lurking online...ON PF!!!!
Â
I don't mind them....but I sure as heck don't like them calling AM1500!!!! Thats just scary!!!

Yeah.. it's ok.. My kid was digging in the road, he was digging anytime we stopped walking.
and yes.. Lurkers
After I talked to Mappy and Jake some lady was following me telling someone on the phone that she thought she was following a cooler crew member.
I let her follow me to my van and watch me leave.
