2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Discuss the 2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt here.

Allison Wonderland

I think most of us were lurkers before we started posting. In fact, I daresay it's common etiquette to lurk for a while first, get a feeling for the "culture" of the group, and then start posting things.

Like I said...I don't have issues with them.....

I'm just afraid of the numbers this year.....since PP put the address of PF in the paper.

OTiS

I don't mind lurkers....

But I never went that route. OT showed me the way in to PF... and someone here thought I was worthy :)

I wonder if the "once blue pond" may refer to when all of the river bottoms were flooded a few years back. The backwater slough was enormous then. ...again- not that it matters.

Our gang just got back from Crosby and it's our opinion that if it's hidden in this park (which the clues seem to be pointing) the traffic jam is going to be one flippin mess!  There just is not a lot of parking for the number of vehicles that will decend upon this park.  Remember how many were at Como and Phalen.  What's a hunter to do!  Hello to Allison Wonderland, the Wolfpac saw you there.

AW, I think that's a really fair point.

Besides, they can't lurk in the "invitational" and it seems to me that the other thread is filled mostly with childish junk, not a whole lot of serious thought. I haven't even slogged in the last couple days.

The word "figure" keeps standing out to me.

You're STILL worthy, OTiS- we're the ones not worthy of YOU, now.
TY again for all you , and pay me do to better our hunt.

I strongly feel that tonight's clue will guide us to what we're looking for it to be hidden in.

possibly... btw Hidden Falls has a decent bit of parking if it's not all blocked off, and trails leading to crosby, if you don't mind the extra walk.

Sniff...

K T... thank you for saying that... but for us it's the crew that makes this hunt what it is.

Okay... I am not searching here alone, thanks a lot GOOGLE : P

The 49-year-old priest was was arrested in May last year at St. Paul’s Crosby Farm Park. According to reports in the Winona Daily News, McGrath was charged with fifth degree criminal sexual assault, which involves non-consensual sexual contact. In short, he groped the genitals of an undercover police officer during a park-wide sting operation.

Yeahhh Crosby isn't exactly the safest park in the area.. I almost cringe going there at night.. on my own anyway.

Jan 20 1961   A fire destroys the Crosby family home, which had been built at the foot of Montreal Street in St. Paul and is now the site of Crosby Farm Park.

We know this already, right? Didn't see it in my slogging.

OTiS- So I guess it's reciprocal then. Or do you wanna argue who does more for whom?

Also- the road down to the south entrance of HF is closed, & un plowed. So the hike from the North down to Crosby would be gruelling. Heh- I can fit at least 10 extra people in my truck, plus all the implements of destruction, maybe I should start a shuttle service...hee

What's a hunter to do!

Park up top side, slide down a cliff and cross the waters edge in pursuit of course

Nah.... I'm at home here though. You guys let the nut in... now you gotta deal with it :)

So the hike from the North down to Crosby would be gruelling.

I'm thinking of using a sled if I have the family with me next time. I'll just pull it like a pike behind me. Keep my youngest, tools, food and such with me in tow.

Speak for yourself, KT!

I for one think OTiS needs to convince his wife to be first in line at the PP for the 12th clue 1 more time, then we let him in the real invitation thread. Hehehehe

Yeah, I was just thinking the fire in 1961 may be what "The siren calls, the giant falls" cpuld be referring to. Although, I am unsure of the size of the house.

My son stopped over after work and says a guy at work thinks it at Highland.  He says he reads the clue about the once blue pond to mean the old pool that they filled in there.

Thats why I'm saying, just get me cardboard box about my size and lets see how it goes at the bottom.

Hey Y'all

Haven't had time to slog at all until now.  I agree on Crosby for several of the same reasons.   Have come up with some of the same noodles.  Going with that for now.  Hope to see ya tonight.....Wanda the archaeologist

Good Evening!

The noodle I had for this....  down beyond the once blue pond...is that during the summer, it would reflect the blue sky.  This time of year, it's frozen and so isn't blue now but once was.

In other news, the Feds are back in my office and are continuing the auditing.  UGH!!!  I planned on taking off early tomorrow.  Now it's a matter of wait and see.

Does anyone else think it's odd that it's never been hidden at Crosby before?  Could there be a reason why?

The people who post in the other thread are here in good faith, and I think it's mean to try to mislead them with this Como stuff.  There are good people there who are just trying to get to the same place.  And there were invitations put out for people to come and join us.  If you want to keep you "best" stuff in here, that's great.  But most of this stuff is already out there in other sites.

Just my opinion.

Who's to say My stuff on FrogPond is wrong!!!

It is good stuff...

I'm telling you its kinda eerie that a guy was murder on dec. 24th.....

and NOT WHITE XMAS...comeon....that's good stuff....

tim_the_hunter

OT- we put the false stuff out there for the lurkers, its so preposterous that anyone that was half serious about hunting would know it's a joke, however if someone that's looking for free help and not interested in signing up and sharing ideas they might just jump on here see Como and go. The latter group are the only ones that we want to mess with, and the latter group are probably the only ones that would fall for our jokes.
