1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Grant Michaels

In clue 9, orient means Japanese Gardens at the Conservatory. In clue 7, look on the road up to the Conservatory it has "Do not leave VALUABLES in your car. It

is a sign right.

Someone told me it wasn't found the year they taped it to the bottom of a mailbox. I don't for sure though if that is true.

If They stopped selling the paper @ 9pm this year it was stupid.

Alison, nice theory. When I get there tonight I'll try to recreate that scenario in my head and see where it leads!

tim-If it is not found, then the money is donated to a charity. This has happened twice before. (IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN)

Everybody it is in COMO PARK guaranteed.

Hi Mo Info! Are you thinking Conway too? I sure am... was there today and yesterday!

Conservatory is the translucent peak.

TRIANGLE PARK is about a mile away from Linwood. It was built in 1996 and is new, like in out with the "old" in with the "new" The "FRACK" matches it to this

park. It is stated in clue 6 if you think about it.

There are also clues for Conway in what HASN'T been said. 1)No clue has given a clear indication of the name of the park, which would imply it must be fairly

small. 2)There has been no reference to water, aside from the water tower. That would imply there is no body of water associated with the park. 3) There has been

no mention of woods or large groups of trees. While Conway has some trees, it would hardly be considered wooded.

Has anyone here NEVER been to Conway, and still insists it's somewhere else???

I'm willing to lost sleep over this thing, all of it. I'd rather have the satisfaction of finding it than the 5,000/10,000, but hey, I'm not turning it down. So don't worry, I

won't let it go "unfound."

I was sure it was in Como too until clue #7 which fits Conway far better than Como or any other park.

For anyone who things it at Highland, I was thinking the red thing had to do with the RED No. 1 in the First Naitonal Bank Building seen in the distance, But...I'm

not there anymore. I've abandoned my park. The clues fit there, but they're not looming in your face.

Whoever hid this thing and made up these stupid clues, need to take an absence from the Pioneer Press.

Alison has some pretty strong points there. Those have all been the types of things which are refferenced in the clues. Go back and check them if you disagree. This

doesn't pinpoint Conway for sure, but it does ssupport such a park

I agree with Mo Info. I was at Triangle Park yersterday. There were a lot of people there because clue 8 went well with the park.

The clues have started, as well as the hunting. Share your suspicions and tips here. Note: The medallion is not adjacent to or on the grounds of any public water

tower. well we know its not neer a water tower

I'm still convinced it's at Conway!

I think a baseball is too small. A softball maybe, but that seems like an awful lot of trouble. If clue #9 does refer to what its contained in, I think a frozen white water

baloon has a better shot. My gut feeling though is that they were just talking about softball in general so as to refer to the softball fields. But then again, maybe they

meant to do that just to lure people to the softball fields, if only subconsciously.

can someone tell me what "frack" means?

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 7:21 PM Permalink

I don't know how many people are still here after that last bout of web crossing error, but as for myself, I think I'm going to get some dinner, watch Ally McBeal,

and then ponder the meaning of $10,000.

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 7:23 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

And sharon, if its just you and I here, I don't know for sure, but I heard people say frack was part of Linwood Park or something. I wouldn't worry about it though.

The medallion's not there.

Tim L - THats not neccisarily good logic. The PP are just telling us NOT to tresspass the private land which houses water towers. Just as clue one says don't go on

a golf course and has no relevance as to whether or not the right park HAS a golf course in it.

Allison, Ally's not on tonight.. TV Guide Awards... Woohoo.. <sarcasm> Personally, I'd rather watch McBeal..

Ally McBeal isn't on tonight...the TV Guide Awards are on. But they are kinda good... I am going to go out tonight, after the next clue cuz i don't have class till noon

I'm Audi5000. On may way to claim my medalion. Alison, some food for thought: $10,000 is about how much it costs to buy a real true Stallion. If you get my drift .

Hey hunters! How's the snow at Conway? I'm sure it has gotten wet and heavy, but is it disappearing with this rain? I hope our luck holds and we don't get a couple

of inches of ice on everything. If that happens we might not find it until spring!

Good luck to everyone going out tonight! I've gotta go buy a new digging implement. The one I was using last night broke!!!
