I think I read somewhere today that Pike Island is actually in Dakota County.  Anyone else remember that?

Her is a highland idea for todays clue "don't run helter skelter, seek strong shelter."  A circus usually travels, set up big tents. but the circus school has a permanant building"strong shelter.??! and dos not travel

Just call me Thomas.  I haven't been convinced yet.

The generals and poet is too hard for me to ignore.

Ok, I don't even know where it is, but someone said something like that earlier.  Guess I can't believe everything I read.  They were saying part of whatever park it's by is Ramsey, but the island itself in in Dakota.

I thought about Highland to, but with all the school kids going to that Circus place, just makes it not so good.

I'm usually one of the last to "be sure".  Other times I've been so sure so early were Langford, Capitol Mall, Kellogg - when I was sure it was Harriet and those fools up there were wrong...hehehehe.

I can't even keep an open mind about these clues.  It all seems to fit.

So where's the next clue that will send us to a whole different park?  LOL!!

Thanks for the nice map, Ian

Did you guys see the catch and release only sign by the shelter at Crosby.  does that mean if we find it we can take a picture but then we have to toss it back??

That brings up something else.  They used to say it is always on the ground.  But the Official Clues don't say that.  I know it says that in the THG, but is that official?

I think it's covered with lichen and frozen in ice in a branch of the river.

Clue #5 -- January 27, 2005

A branch, a lichen, a place made for hikin',
Is where a prize is earned.
Don't run, helter skelter, seek out solid shelter
With room and wood to burn

Clue #4 -- January 26

The siren calls, the giant falls
'Tween field generals the poet sings
That down beyond the once blue pond
Is treasure fit for kings

Clue #3 -- January 25

Be safe and we pledge, neither cliff nor water's edge
Figures in your hunting pursuit
What's that you hear? Please, have no fear
It was there before we moved in

Clue #2 -- January 24

Snow we have missed much, this not very white Christmas
But the ice has come to stay
The water's quite frozen at this park we have chosen
Along its paths you may while time away

Clue #1 -- January 23

The old curmudgeon was in high dudgeon
When a critter ran off with the loot
But this year to be credible, we've made it inedible
And stuck it in a park — so scoot!

Far fetched - but hear me out - Tony Schmidt Park

Ok - so it's stuck to the tree in some lichen (which is on the north side aka north end of ramsay county)

A prize is earned - Nobel Peace prizes are earned - Schmidt park is NORTH of Nobel Street - what is the street next to it you ask?  Grant!!! (one general down - one to go)

There was also a General McCracken

http://www.richthofen.com/smith-dorrien/dorrien24d.htm

) so that be general # 2 - and there is one on each side of the park. (field generals if you will - open space - fields)

and I am not sure about singing - but Walt Whitman spent time at Chatham which is a street near the park as well.

Charles Perry Park is slightly north of it -(charles mansion - helter skelter) - also helter skelter was used in 88 when it was in that park

Wood to burn - Forrest lane, oak Ave, RidgeWOOD all streets on the east side of the park

Hear - train runs through the area - you would certainly be able to hear it.

Once blue pond  - lake Johanna is right there - blue in the summer - frozen in the winter

Chatham trails has a hockey rink (ice)

open space reference again - there before we moved in ( it was open before we developed it)

I can prolly find way more - paths (while time away - there are several parks there to do that in)

Young woman or man while you still can
gnash your teeth and put on the gloves

On cross country skis take the trail through the trees
where the eagle flies with the dove

I just had a sick thought, you may call me crazy, but what happens if todays clue refrenced it to Homer's Poetry, the Odyssee and the Tojan war.  Torjan is a brand of condoms, what happens if its hidden inside a box of trojan condoms?

thanks - I haven't been sold on crosby - so I have been trying to find any (and all) other parks that fit - I still really like highland - but today when i was looking for generals - I came across the Nobel and Grant streets - and since then - it's just been stuck in my head.
