Had a blast just sittin down by the fire w/KT, lilman, LAM, and everyone else who stopped by. KT.. lol ya make a good cup of coffee :) Just figured I'd stop here and see what was going on... then gonna head off 2 bed 2 be back at the park at the butt crack o'da mornin!
lol well I'm not going down to the press tonight... I told KT I'd keep her company by the fire... so thas where I'll be.. that way I can have a nice parking spot :D
ChuckFred: Thanks for sharing the CSNY connections. I was waiting for them to verify without a doubt that we're in the right park by putting Crosby with his compadres, and this one did it. For some reason, I completely missed it, filtering past the front matter and focusing more on eagle and dove.
Homer and his QB friends were plenty good enough for me, but I follow football and I gots me one of them fancy English majors.
Today's clue should bring out a wider demographic -- pulling people away from their pet parks and into Crosby en masse. If it doesn't, then somebody please send me photos of people wasting their time on Saturday at the Como Park torpedo or snooping around at Indian Mounds. Only adults though. Kids should be encouraged to look for the treasure on their front boulevard as early as age 3. Get 'em hooked young.
The first half of the clue is a giveaway for CSNY. Good. Done.
"Where the eagle flies with the dove" is giving me fits. I want to believe that we're getting into musical references with Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle" and our boy, Prince, with "When Doves Cry" but I still don't know why that would matter. I pride myself on not reaching too much into the clues, but I'm going to have to make a few wild leaps on this one before I get it right.
I mean, yo, I was looking at a Dove soap box repeat like Como Park 2001. I even got down with some condensed milk at http://www.eaglebrand.com/brands.asp. How's that for desperately seeking susan?
at this point it's hard to say what it's hidden in.. the clue writers want it to go to clue 12, which is why they're with holding so much info.. but wanted to get us to the park early because it's such a huge park.
The song also implies graham avenue I think it's near terror tower, a cave used for halloween! There is a dried up pond there that used to be blue with water, and the dove is a song referance to CSNY!
Love the pic, OTS. I'm going to show it to my Cali-spoiled, MN-born 10-year-old and exclaim, 'That's what you should be doing with your winter! Now get that skateboard out of the living room!'
But I digress. Get to Crosby this weekend, everyone. Be a part of it all. Build a memory. Work up an easy excuse to be in the area -- like a meal at Buca or a bump at Dave's BBQ. Every piece of the effort is an enduring part of the adventure, and it's not wise to hunt on an empty stomach.
I'm here. Needed some sleep. Heading out in a bit I think. I gotta talk to my work sometime today about going back sunday night. I'm gonna ask that i have vacation next week for the hunt. Not sure how that will go since they already gave me this week off. Man this situation sucks.
The first thought that popped into my head when i read the clue was the part about the glove: what if it is some sort of court reference where "if the glove fits." Thats why you would gnash your teeth. I don't know, just a thought. Is there any courthouses nearby a park?
Checking back in one more time before I toddle off:
"Where the eagle flies with the dove" is no longer giving me fits. Folks over on the PP board reminded me of "Love the One You're With" by CSNY. A quick Google search gave me:
There's a rose In a fisted glove And the eagle flies, Flies with the dove So if you can't be with the one you love, Love the one you're with
Â
That's probably old news to the pro noodlers here, but I liked it. For some reason, I missed it on my initial Google lyrics blitz. Probably because I've always been more of a "Judy Blue Eyes" kind of guy myself. I much preferred the more elaborate bird references of:
Chestnut brown canary Ruby-throated sparrow Sing a song Don't be long Thrill me to the marrow  Eagles, doves, canaries, sparrows... Avid birders, those boys.  G'night fer real.
The siren's the big siren/horn thighy up on top o'the sliding hill where you go "helter skleter."Â And the giant that fell's the big ski jump thighy that came down.
ahh i see. :) or not. not in on those inside joke/gossip things i guess.
did you see that I saw your big "OTS" in the snow near the downed tree? i was like "hey, i know that guy!" hopefully i'll see you out tonite? i think i saw you last year at the PP
nite all -
hopefully the posting faries won't leave me 500 posts by morning.

It's the Tunnel of Terror.. an old sandstone cave they turned into a haunted house.

[Edited by on Jan 28, 2005 at 05:35am.]
as far as the glove goes, i'm thinking it might be IN a glove.
OTS- are you talking medallionators eric? why aren't they allowed here?
I didn't say anyone wasn't allowed here :)
And I didn't say anything about they
[Edited 2 times. Most recently by on Jan 28, 2005 at 05:36am.]
Yup. Bat CreakÂ
I just figured out "Please, have no fear."
The MX x-country bike path. Now today we've got the skiing.
But haven't noodle the rest.
Eagle/dove... War and Peace?
The siren's the big siren/horn thighy up on top o'the sliding hill where you go "helter skleter."Â And the giant that fell's the big ski jump thighy that came down.
My take enkneeweighs.
HA HA HA HA....
Glad I don't get to do any serious snow moving till Saturday.... I think theres a big bomb coming.

Lucky100, I don't know your username, but don't be doing that crap here, or your access will be removed.
Crosby, STILLs, gNASH, YOUNG. I don't think they could make it any more obvious in one clue
ahh i see. :) or not. not in on those inside joke/gossip things i guess.
did you see that I saw your big "OTS" in the snow near the downed tree? i was like "hey, i know that guy!" hopefully i'll see you out tonite? i think i saw you last year at the PP
But again, "No Crosby."
So, no Crosby and then what do get from what's left?
I don't think ittiz Crosby. Just my opinion.
I don't see any other reason for using the word gnash. It's too weird of a word.
Besides, why use all 6 clues to tell us what park it'snot in? That's just silly.
Yes I saw that you saw that.... Kitch saw it too.
I was thinking about starting a new thing next year. First person to find my mark and take a picture of it and post it here gets a beer on me :)
Stupid I know.... but with clues like this... we have to do something to stay sane.
