Friday morning at 10AM at the Crosby main fire pit/Pavilion the Pioneer Press will be taking pictures of the crew and Zeph digging and such. There will be an article in Saturday’s paper about everything we did and are still doing for him and his family.
The cooler crew is going to get a good spot of press from this I think.
We were also promised a bit of a story down the road about the cooler crew as a group. A more in depth look at Cooler heads.
As for the guy writing the article, He knows Mappy and Mr Med and said just reading over what were doing and checking out the stuff we did for him so far gave him and others at MA Press chills.
They are going to call his wife later today and talk with her as well. She spoke to Pay me and was very excited.
Please try and pass this on to all the cooler heads you talk to throughout the day today. The press we can get from this will do good for Trent, Mappy and Mr Med. Like I said, we have pretty much been given the word that the PP really sees how cool the cooler is and is looking forward to doing more on us in the future.
Pass this on to all cooler heads you talk to!

The reporter said we should become a non profit org.
He also said that looking at the pics of us all at the PDG with Zep and the the fact that we had devoted so much time in giving him a place really got to him and the editor who assigned the work to him.
I think this will be a good quality spot in Ma Press for the crew.
I've got a litte more catchy deal on Cooler Times for Trent... so hopefully the extra Traffic will get some attention.
We plugged both sites which in turn should get the rest of the crew some attention... Mappy, Mr Med and Trent.... plus GW is on the Cooler Times now too.
And thats what it's all about!
We'll toss a paper in one of Zephs personal boxes :)
The reporter said we should become a non profit org.
we've talked about that, search, in the past. and while it would be nice for companies like 3m donating things, the hoops that one has to go through to maintain that are just overhead that none of us really wanted to pursue. pay me said that last time i talked to her, and thats basically what i told her.
its a royal pain for what we do..... copied from mngca.......
Â
I suggest that we incorporate the Minnesota Geocaching Association as a not-for-profit corporation that is notgoverned under 501(c)(3), unless we need to issue receipts for tax deduction purposes if someone gives us contributions. Please note that we can elect to do this in the future if it becomes necessary.
Filing is pretty easy. All we need to do is fill out the form Articles of Incorporation, a copy of which I have with me, and the same must be signed by the president or whoever we designate as the filer (it's usually the president). We don't have to name a registered agent for service of process. We will also need an "official" address for the corporation. This cannot be a P.O. box.
I will need to send in a check for $70.00, payable to the MN Secretary of State.
WCCO and the PP? Cool! I figured the press would pick up on it sooner or later. Makes for a good story and good press for the Winter Carnival stuff also. Wish I could be there, but have to work until 11:00. No way out of it.
Crosby park eh. We were sightseeing there a few days ago and I tripped over this chunk of ice. It was wierd because it had this puck shape in it. Anyway, I picked it up and threw it into a dumpster so nobody else would trip and get hurt.
Have fun and post what times the story will be on television, if they tell you.
I was hoping you folks would see the humor in that. Seriously though, has anyone ever thrown away the medallion not knowing what it is? I see in the past it was hidden in a Skoal tin, an old sock, etc. and I could see how someone who does not know about the hunt would pick it up and throw it in the trash.Â
I haven't seen any new pictures of "Zephy". Is he out with a cold or something?
No one has ever thrown it away in the trash that I'm aware of at least. Someone put it back though once. The story is in the movie No Time For Cold Feet. You really should go see it.
Grandpa, there are some new pictures of Zeph hunting at Como Park on Monday. They're at www.coolertimes.com . Just click on the Zeph Cam to see them
No wonder he is exhausted. I think he needs to take a nap.
...after we get back from the press meetings this morning.
Hopefully you can include pics of him being interviewed. I bet he was just speechless at all that is going on. I also hope you folks had a lot of fun today. I need a full report since I couldn't make it there.
i've got pics of it, dan. clue master got pics as well. they'll be posted as soon as we get the art work for the cat he's entering in the saintly city cat competition tomorrow. :)
we were there while the cco reporter was filiming the intro to the story. i can't wait to see which one he uses for it.
Did they say what broadcast it will be on?  WCCO just talked about a woman who has a button from every year since 1886. The first one is a stick pin with a coin attached. Her father got them from a Winter Carnival official and she inherited them.Â
Well Zephy will be gettin fresh with the Klondike Kates tmrw nite :) I gots da hook up.. gonna meet TC and Aries at the Landmark tmrw evening to get the pix... it's gonna be awesome.. they're gonna eat him up! Haha no pun intended!
Hello Cooler Crew from the Reader Advocate at the "Ma Press."
Just want you to know that your message was received and forwarded to the appropriate editor.
But mostly, I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed looking over your website. Nice job.
Good luck with the hunt.- Kathy H.

Kathy H is my friend down at the PP. Too funny.Â
Well thats cool Terry. I'm glad she liked things.
Now if that silly writer would just call.......
the photo page does take longer than the front page. (not too bad though) When you asked I thought you only wanted to know about the front page.
Ok Cooler Heads.....
You wanted it, now we got it!

The photo guys came up with this with TC.

It is almost like you brought some home here for me. I have had something "big" to look forward to everyday, that was tangible here.
Ok, I am going to go now before I get really sappy....
And yes... I can almost guarantee you, this will be, for many years to come, the most memorable hunt I have ever participated in!
Thanks!! You guys rock

I wasn't saying that I wanted to pursue it.. I was just repeating what the guy was saying....
Doesn't really fit in with anything we have going on here anyways
It was a good conversation they had. You could tell this whole thing will do alot for the crew as whole.

Kitch... tell me when you need the money.
If you guys think it will help the crew then I don't care. I'm not all that keen in that department. But whatever you all decide is best.
I'm not going to do it....I just told ya its a pain in the ass for nothing...
I can just see our bylaws now....
talk about an one liner....
"a group of internet junkies that walk all over ramsey county for 11 days to be mad at a writer on day 12"
LOL.. Like I said... I don't know anything about ..... nor do I see what purpose it serves....
I was just repeating what the reporter said :)

Why would you put it back? I should go see that as I know many in it.
[Edited by on Jan 27, 2005 at 08:18pm.]
It's a long story involving earmuffs and a daughter that wanted to keep them.
Grandpa, there are some new pictures of Zeph hunting at Como Park on Monday. They're at www.coolertimes.com . Just click on the Zeph Cam to see them
Hehe Terry. I wasn't going to say anything.
Thank you OT. :-)
I saw the Como Park pics. Hilarious. Just waiting for the next batch of pics.
I think Zeph has been resting up for his big photo op tomorrow morning.
LOL, we need a pic of him "sleeping" in a bed or on someone's couch. Hat pulled down over his eyes, but that big smile still showing.
[Edited by on Jan 27, 2005 at 09:05pm.]
Probably could be arranged. I guess he startles TC in the morning when she sees him in her living room. Poor boy doesn't even have a bed. :(
I haven't seen any new pictures of "Zephy". Is he out with a cold or something?
i'll be posting the ones that i took last nite at the press on coolercrew.com this afternoon after we get back from the press meetings this morning.

You've got your work cut out for you, Search!
That was awesome crew! We got Zephs face ready to be plastered all over the place :)
Now they have Dr. Suck Won Kim (his real name) on. Nothing on the CCO page either. Maybe 5:00 news?
Hopefully the other contestants at that contest have as good a sense of humor as you guys do.
